  • desuforeverlulz He stole that from 7 habits of highly effective people. At least give credit where credit is do, before you start filling jars with credit that isn't due

  • It's a song called 'snow and lights', not 'rocks and jars'

  • First snow of the winter fell today in NY :)

  • Their music is so relaxing and beautiful, why is everyone getting worked up over the human race when they should be appreciating the song?

  • @loopylouise7 because the human race is fucked up, which is why i think we appreciate this beautiful music even more . I agree to daze at the beautiful, appreciate life and all, but let us not ignore the ugliness either.

  • Explosions in the sky takes me to places where I have never been to before. A thousand words can be said from this song.

  • to bring up another point, i hate when people say that humans are so "stupid" and that we arent intelligent beings. we are literally the most intelligent things that we know to exist.

  • The Earth is far more powerful than we are.

  • @ac1013dc:

The Earth is a rock. And we are miners.

  • good work

  • All these long comments are just faf, i like the song, end of, bye bye

  • @lolhiitstombye thank you! finally someone who can just appreciate good music and doesnt have to be so queer about it. do peple seriously think they are being creative or artistic by talking shit on material things? what a unique idea!

  • CTFxC!

  • @Yeahreset well said, my man

  • @Yeahreset you will learn, grasshopper.

  • gorgeous. cant wait to make my way along down to pioneer park to experience it live.

Days fly by quickly and children move on.

Before we know it the "old times" are gone.

But as we look back at generations gone by,

We, reflect on the memories that serve as a tie.

    Binding us together with future and past;

and building a story that forever will last.

  • I think they can make songs with lyrics and then they will be popular and the songs will be great

  • slc live baby!!!!

  • look up "while the city sleeps - back when we knew", kind of similar big soundscapes and grand crescendos.

  • If you like this, Check out Past and Language with Vicous Misadventures from Las Vegas. AMAZING. Reminds me so much of explosions in the sky.

  • Every time I hear this song I think about pie.

  • still jammin to this...11 years later...in the same place

  • @RiverPhoenix1993 Ahaha, sick. I love this song.

  • everytime i go into a post-rock video there's a top-rated comment that involves drugs!

  • maybe nature destroy herself because of us

  • I just like this for the music.....you can look into it all you like but it's only a song.

  • Music is Love

    Love is Music,

    but where is it at?

  • Interesting commentary... All this talk of being against corporations, technology, society, but the ironic thing is that without those things you could not be listening to this song right now. Consider the cost and the consequence of both angles. You may want to move into nature and return your feral state, but would you want to give up this art which needs technology and modern society to be shared and enjoyed? Humans can destroy nature, this is true, but remember nature also destroys itself,

  • Comment removed

  • @ladymeridian23 You're absolutely right, we're also getting better and better at not destroying nature as we expand. In fact, by 2050 we should be able to feed our projected population of 9 billion with the same amount of cultivated land we have now. Thats all thanks to progressing technology, GM foods, and better agriculture. We may have to break away from society's patterns to bring about the changes we need but that doesnt mean condemning and regressing.

  • @ladymeridian23

Also, Does nature not destroy us just the same? It is a vicious cycle; but one that is needed.

  • @ladymeridian23

The funny thing is, humans destroying nature IS nature destroying nature. Humanity isn't some separate entity from the Earth, we just as much a part of it as a blade of grass. Out materialism, our societal views, implant the idea in our minds that we're something above and beyond the Earth. But think about it, if we were to say an apple tree "apples," using apples as a verb, then the Earth is simply a planet that peoples. But I agree with your views =)

  • @ladymeridian23 (you may already know this) he meant that in a religious sense...music in itself is religious (in a spiritual sense)...music in itself brings the mind to a higher perception of itself...this is why when you listen to music like this...and certain forms of trance...you tend to think in a better quality...this is because the music you're listening to, reaches your emotions more efficiently than anything else...the sounds then bring those emotions forward and they clear your mind.

  • and yes...I did wright that while I was listening to this very song :)

  • @ladymeridian23 shut yo mouf bitch

  • @ladymeridian23 either way we need to get back to the old ways....i rather give all this up to go back to theland...nuff said

  • @ladymeridian23 Humans are nature, as much as we deny and set ourselves apart from it, we are still biological beings surrounded by electronic creations of which are our own.

  • @ladymeridian23 technology isn't really bad, just how people use it.

and corporations aren't needed, and society really just needs a bit of help to stop being mindless drones to the corporations.

And humans can revive nature as well.

    I think, anyway.

  • @QuietIndigo how are people mindless drones to corporations? people want things. businesses provide them. people willingly work for said businesses to make a living. the only reason businesses exist is because of the people themselves willing to trade their own goods(work) for something else(the products of other peoples work). this is how society has worked since ancient times, but instead of trading specific goods, we use a monetary system. its essential to a society of our size to trade goods

  • @seanmitchell88 do animals do that?

Cos I'm pretty sure that's what humans are.

And there have been countless "society's" that don't do anything like that.

  • @QuietIndigo LOL. humans have been exchanging resources for hundreds of thousands of years. and the population of humans on earth at that point was in the hundreds of thousands. we now have almost 7 billion. so tell me, how in the fuck our we supposed to all just go out into a field and hunt for our own meal? if you wanna go shit on a tree and eat squirrels, be my guest. just dont tell me i have to do it. also, you may want to do a little reading on modern societies. youre uneducated obviously

  • @seanmitchell88 you don't need to exchange food to eat it.

    fucking grow it.

    and share it.

and the population being huge isn't a good thing.

I'd appreciate it if you stopped talking to me, because I never asked you to and it's just getting overly obnoxious.

  • @QuietIndigo LOL. grow it and share it? so basically, we have a handful of people do all the work and then we all get to eat for free? well ok, only if you volunteer to be the one who has to bust your ass all day just to give it to me, after my hard day of laying in my hammock and smoking joints. you should write a book with these ideas.

  • @seanmitchell88 It's been done. It's called the Ant and the Grasshopper.

  • Comment removed

  • @ladymeridian23 oh pls...that is not what we are talking about and you know it. we are talking about world issue not randomly destroying the technology and humanity's knowledge. we are talking about those bastards whom are too concerned about their wealth and asses. it starts with us, over consumed and consumed by ourselves. and the rest consumed by their illusion of happiness.

  • @theworldofwonder what business is it of anyones to care if someone is concerned about their own wealth and asses? who gives shit? why dont you live your own life? i see people targeting wealthy people all the time, like they are the problem. the problem is people only focus on others rather than themselves. i doubt most of the people who bash so called "rich bastards" probably arent even doing shit for others anyways.

  • @seanmitchell88 ya okay i agree about starting on ourselves and i said that "it starts with us, over consumed and consumed by ourselves. and the rest consumed by their illusion of happiness.". what i meant was not particularly rich people but people whom live for money. they may not be rich at all.

  • @theworldofwonder "the rest consumed with their illusion of happiness". an illusion? you talk as is you are a prophet. how do you know these things? the answer is you dont. their may be an over emphasis on material goods in the US, but to suggest that everyone places sooo much emphasis on it isnt correct either. the majority of the people in the country arent rich materialists. they are people with families and are deeper than u make out. im sick of people talking like they have everyone pegged

  • @seanmitchell88 hahah you'r so funny. a prophet. ya well, i only agreeing with you know orwell, huxley, Fitzgerald etc. if i am wrong then you can might as well call these people idiots and spit on their faces. tell me, do you think these people are wrong?

  • @theworldofwonder do i think they are wrong? if they say everyones happiness is an illusion, then yes i think they are wrong. let them speak for themselves.

  • @seanmitchell88 well, you see whether you like it or not we are trying to prove the same point. i am not saying its an illusion to everyone but to the general public. you are frustrated with people ignoring there are people with families and are deeper than some make out. but they are not the issue. its those people can't seem to think for themselves and fall into the pit of illusion. sadly, it is the majority in us

  • @theworldofwonder i dont believe it is the majority AT ALL. i think that is an illusion.

  • @ladymeridian23 We'd find a way to make it. It would all have to be live of course.

  • its the cycle of life and maybe finally our purpose its to accelerate or contribute in the creation and destruction of the things that surround us, even our selfs! To make art you have to destroy in order to transform the matter. Its only natural. All its a paradox in the continuum!

  • Have you ever just wanted to forget about everything, and move into nature? Because the world is definitely ruined. Everyone tells us how we need to get great jobs and make stacks of money for us to live and be happy. So lame. Society needs to focus on the real needs. not money, girls, cars, electronics and whatever else. I don't know about you, but I'd just like to get away from it all. like, move into the montana wilderness or something. yeah, montana sounds good.

  • Music is Love

  • Read bottom one first ;)

  • Life is enormous, every human has trillions have events in their life, but through all of this, in comparison to are galaxy, in comparison to the universe, we are nothing, all of our thoughts, all of our events. So if it’s nothing, why can’t the motives be happiness, love, and being peaceful with nature? This music brings out those motives, I’m sure we can all agree on this.

  • it was shared as if all beings were equal, they all had their precise position on this planet that could have been maintained forever, but unnecessary advancements that humans had done made it worse to a catastrophic scale. Humans have destroyed earth, a beautiful planet that cannot be fixed if continued abuse to its natural environment persists.

  • The problem with society’s motives for human life is the pressure put on humans. Life is now pressure, pressure to conform to society’s motives, but the problem is precisely that. The motives that society claims practical, are completely unnecessary. People forget about happiness, about love, about nature. Everyone minds are set on corporations, money, resources, land. A land we can all share, a land where it didn’t matter thousands of years ago if you were human or any other animal,

  • does anyone know this tabs for guitar? I can´t FIND! and I want it so MUUUCH!

  • listen to the song and then fill the whole universe with love

  • @antikrist616 love is the key for everthing!

  • This sounds like something I'd play after a night of binge drinking and pot smoking, but couldn't sleep cause I took 3 "Yellow Jackets". When I was f*cking 17.

  • I like to think that this is the song that will run through my head while I'm dying and that I'll be entirely happy as my happiest and most profound moments in my life flood my mind at the same time. This band knows how to reach you in that way.

  • every morning i wake and bake and play this song!

  • This song makes me think... think about everything how i could improve the world to make it better not with technology but with sharing love compassion im not the best person to do so but its worth a life to give to change any one persons life.

  • "i went to the woods because i wished to live deliberatley, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if i could not learn what it had to teach, and not when i came to die, discover that i had not lived" - Henry David Thoreau.

  • This music is good for your mind

  • reminds me of some of 65days of static's work, love this music

  • smooth

  • holy SH T. @BREENNTTT

when i was listening to the new album i was doing the same shh t.

it was crazy. i was stoned all i could do was stare at this beautiful view. it was insane

  • @xrobgarrett It's not really the song it's the chronic that brings out the need to think and debate, but this song amplifies that need.

  • I want the part from 6:11 on to be playing when i overcome a huge obstacle in life....that is the exact feeling i get from that part

  • @pickles1234567890 Me too. =]

  • how did i miss this all these years?

  • I jizzed in my pants...

  • Funny thing is, this is their least favorite album. But it is my favorite =/

  • @hellisice No, I think All of A Sudden I Miss Everyone is.

  • @qte00 Someone's got some good bud. ;)

  • @DysprosiumJudas or some good doses haha

  • The Universe doesn't care about your car, your house, your iPod, your next-gen games console, your ten million other material distractions and impractical garbage. It just doesn't give a shit and we seem to be forgetting precisely that.

  • @qte00

you can turn your YouTube post into a poem...just saying :D

  • @qte00 Holy crap. You've completely written out every thing that I, personally, think about/feel when listening to this album. Like exactly. Sometimes, if I'm listening to this outside I just look up at the sky and think about how huge the Universe is and how incredibly insignificant I am. Humans need to reconnect with nature in our own unique way and stop worrying about material stuff.

  • @qte00 Well.... we're part of the universe, and we're conscious, and we care about those things, so in a way the universe does get quite a bit of shit about that crap. Unless you exclude us from the universe, then it's just a bunch of inanimate objects, so it would be impossible for it to "give a shit". Sorry, just felt like saying that.

    Great fucking song though.

  • @qte00 cool. and what does it have to do with this song?

  • @svesinieks That's a thought that the song made him feel.

  • @qte00 It doesn't give a shit about you, either.

Nothing in this great cosmic nothing makes sense, has purpose, nothing is crafted for the human condition.

  • @qte00 The most important thing in the Existence is Love, the meaning of life, right here in our hearts waiting to be experienced by most, being experience by some ;)

  • @qte00

  • @qte00 it's not that we forget, it's that there's no point in letting that keep you down. If you think like that you might as well don't come out of bed tomorrow morning, and lay there untill you die from dehydration.

The universe can't give a shit because it's not conscious. Only you can give a shit.

  • @qte00 Games aren't "impractical garbage". Play before talking, idiot.

  • @MrHentaination

I don't know if you're joking or not. I hope so.

I play a lot of video games, and sure: they're pretty, some are even artistic. But ultimately its just a waste of time. When I think of how much I could have been doing instead of wasting my time in front of my computer or tv killing something that doesn't exist, I know that ultimately games serve no purpose other than to distract. Maybe I'm different, but I get so much more happiness from actually doing and making things.

  • @23skidoonk TRUUUEEE MEN!

  • @23skidoonk actually games can be very educational :)

  • @qte00

that's exactly what you think when you're baked and listening to this

  • @BeatnickIntellectual dont always have to be baked my friend, but still its better... stay high :)

  • @qte00 Thats a comment i would of liked to read anyday,. thanks buddy for sheddin some light

  • @qte00 foreigners dont care if i call them names or make gang signs at them, they dnt care if we spit onto them, because they are as universes, mere "things" boardering on concepts. COMING OVER HERE TAKING OUR JOBS!

  • @qte00

I just put this as a "favorite quotation" on my facebook.

  • @qte00 Someone just watched Fight Club :3

  • @qte00 I didn't mean to vote down...

  • @qte00 Hmm. And you think the universe gives a shit about you? Or do you give a shit about the universe? Or what? Distraction from what? What big scheme are you planning? I don't get your point, although what you say feels very cosy inside, I have to admit that.

  • @qte00 when i think of that, and i do alot, i realize that everything we do is pointless, everything we try so hard for is pointless

  • @qte00 You can fill a large jar to the top with rocks, pebbles and sand. Rocks represent the bigger things in life. Family, love, children, and your wife or husband. Pebbles represent the important things that don't matter as much. Your job, your car, your home and your health. Sand is everything else that is small. iPod, clothes, jewelry, and money. If you start with the sand, nothing else will be able to fit. But if you start with the rocks, you can put everything else in between the cracks.

  • @desuforeverlulz Your health doesn't matter? lolwut

  • @AmeliaJadeWhite Doesn't matter as much. Lrn2context.

  • @desuforeverlulz er, it does matter a lot, though. You're saying it's equal to your car. your health impacts you the most, more then your love and whatnot, innn my opinion :p.

  • @AmeliaJadeWhite Well, maybe you're right.

  • @desuforeverlulz I think a job IS the jar. You can't have anything without the jar.

  • @Pianomantodd1 The jar is your life. You can have love, children, and a happy marriage even without a job. You can't have anything without your life.

  • @desuforeverlulz sorry, i'm a realist. I believe in things that are possible. You LITERALLY can not have a family without a job. How are you going to pay to have your children? You have to have a job to have children, period. Wish it wasn't so, but it is. You can't refute that fact. Good day.

  • @Pianomantodd1 You might not be able to RAISE a family without a job, but you can surely HAVE one. If you are a man, you have a dick, find a woman, stick in inside of her, ejaculate, and nine months later, you officially have a family. And what if you are a stay at home type of parent? You don't have to have a job to help raise a family, don't be ridiculous!

  • @desuforeverlulz Focus on the bigger things and everything else has a way of falling into place

  • @desuforeverlulz If you take a jar, fill it with first sand, then pebbles, then rocks, you will notice that it represents ones life in their own view point. Now take this into consideration, without one the size would be eratic and quickly go small to huge or look as a missing link. However, with all 3, when you poor water into this jar, the big rocks it bounces off. The pebbles slow it down. The sand prevents it from getting to the bottom. Without everything, one would drown.

  • @desuforeverlulz I forgot that I commented on this video, just thinking about my post makes me cringe. You know when you're affected by a song and it makes you feel something so indescribable, something so emotionally evocative that all else seems completely fallible and unnecessary? I suppose it's comparable to when one first views the milky way complete with its infinite star clusters and unrivaled splendour. It's a moment of enlightenment that deserves to be revered, not renounced.

  • @desuforeverlulz Plus, as a geology student, that analogy is almost a literal interpretation of my life.

  • @qte00 Heh. What did you originally post earlier?

  • @desuforeverlulz you just blew my mind, and changed my life at the same time..thanks(:

  • @qte00

    Deep, bro, deep.

  • It's everything you've ever loved, everything you've ever lost. It's not necessarily joyful, nor is it shamefully depressing, it's what you make it. This music doesn't care if you die a brutal death and leave an orphaned child behind, in the grand order of things it's completely irrelevant, which is why music has such an incredibly symbiotic relationship with the universe, or how we perceive it. The natural beauty of existence is what creates humanity.
