You need to check the technology behind RFID. The chip is 'powered' by an external source, somewhat like the new cellphone charger pads - no wires connected, just magnetic pulsing. My two dogs have implanted RFID's with unique serial numbers to track them if lost - I don't condone for humans however. Yah, 'Logans Run' was/is one of my favorite science FICTION movies.
