  • Little did the crowd know, there looking at soon-to-be one of the most famous metal bands ever.

  • just 8 days after my birthday lol

  • fuck i was born in 83, close to 29 years ago....

  • and I've heard people witht he cheek to say Kill Em All is the first thrash album. Clearly they never have heard of SLAYER.

  • @ConorSomerz that was when metallica was still thrash...but they still back then couldnt withhold the speed and aggression FUCKIN SLAYER had and still do

  • Fuckin A man. Shit is still going strong.

  • killer jam for 83

  • @jasafj06 for 83? i find it better than 99% of metal made after this one!

  • Almost 30 years ago ... And it still kicks ass

  • Buncha' zombies...

  • EPIC HEADBANGING

  • Today, i'm going to die with this song in the mosh. WELCOME BACK TO ARGENTINA!

  • No one's moving.....what a waste of a crowd.

  • @MuIdoon man, thats in slayer very first years, oviously they dont were so popular

  • Kiss thing going? PLEASE, kiss are a bunch of pussies!!! This is 1983, listen to how heavy this is. The only difference with SLAYER today is Kerry King is bald and Tom Araya can't head bang, SLAYER are legends forever.

  • @entenmannj old kiss was pretty good, but yeah, i admit, that gene simmons is nothing but stupid money whore

  • The guy at start 'Ladys and Gentlemen to open are show this evening please welcome slayer...0_0 what the fuck is this BINGO? your Meant to say ' to open are show tonight please welcome FUCKING SLAYER!!!!!!!!

  • to the comments wondering why the audience is just standing there, keep in mind the date: 03/28/83. They had probably never heard *any*thing like this. Kill 'em all wouldn't be released for another 2 or 3 months. These dumbfounded people are witnessing the birth of thrash!! Only like 2 other bands in LA were playing this fast at the time - Circle Jerks and Wasted Youth. And they weren't even metal bands!!! LOL Slayer did more to bring hardcore punk and metal together than Metallica did.

  • @nervouswreck75 BEST youtube comment ive ever read. SLAYER! First and Foremost!

  • @nervouswreck75 wasted youth!!!!!!!!

  • @nervouswreck75 metallica was majorly influenced by motorhead. don't think to many punk bands influenced metallica.

  • "Let there be Slayer!"

    And then God committed suicide.

  • what a fuck is wrong with the fucking crowd??we have thrash music but the crowd isn't fighting this isn't thrash crowd this is pussy metal crowd!!where are the injured people and the blood fuck???:P

  • why those motherfuckers aren't beating the shit outta each other!!??

  • And then the was FUCKING SLAYER!!!!!!!!!

  • Crowd isn't lame... They're in shock. It's 1983. They can't believe what they're seeing. There mouths are like... :-O

  • The Woodstock. I totally remember that place! (It has been torn down) Loved Slayer back in the day- still have my tour t-shirt from that year and the vinyl LP. Memories!

  • Does anyone know the setlist for this gig?

  • I wish we couldve gotten a close up of the guitar solo!

  • Id like to see a scene/emo/hardXcore faggot get in the pit. rip those snakebite lip piercings right off lol

  • The force of evil light!!

  • AWESOME......

  • rofl the audience must be waiting for glam metal or something to come on next

  • WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!! Heavy metal history!!!! Whoever shot this needs to get an Academy Award!! Sure, the award is for movies and blah, blah......but they need to make an exception for this footage!!!! The person who owns this will rule the heavy metal world!!!! \m/

  • Audience has no idea what they're witnessing. Awesome.

  • wish i was there,seeing slayer in 1983 !!!!!!!!!

  • front row is stoned from awesomeness i guess... :D

  • @KrsJH Actually no. 1983 was the time, when people practicaly didn't knew how to react to this kind of music after listening ratt, kiss and other lighter music. When slayer, metallica, megadeth came on the stage in that time, mostly everyone was in shock, like what the hell ? Hell yeah!

  • @no0neX smartass, you don't understand a joke do you, thank you for ruining everybodys day :)

  • @no0neX Overkill doesn't ring you bells?

  • Great performance, lol at the crowd, thats just how it is when there are only 20 people in the building, Ive played a few shows to crowds like that.

  • Im sitting yelling at my monitor going "MOSH YOU FUCKERS!"

  • @GRAFFDEMON hahahahahaha

  • Caralho gosto de música ruim mais essa ficou uma bosta parece que o Slayer fez cover deles mesmos que lixo e não estou falando da qualidade do show que é antigo e sim da execução ,perdi meu tempo.

  • lame crowd

  • @LemmYFRT And lame comment about you. This the very begining.

  • @LemmYFRT they probably opened for some poser glam band

  • @TheMechanix55 Which is a shame because this is FUCKING SLAYERRRRRRRR

  • @TheMechanix55 I guess they didn't do an opening act for any artist. Their setlist for this night was too long for an opening act.

  • People in this concert think that Slayer members are making fools of themselves, but they don't who they will become :P

  • the crowd isn't moving because they're watching slayer and realizing that they're about to change metal in many ways!!!!! Fucking SLAYYERRR!!! \m/

  • the way he said 'slayer' sounds so weird

  • The crowd is scared to death ! None of them are moving a single muscle ! Slayer is to strong and evil

  • MOSH!

  • how can i make this louder! >:) awesome footage

  • Stupid people. I was at this show! Jeff is playing a flying V only time in his life he played one. The only reason he did is because of idolizing KK Downing. Look at the playing out the Judas Priest roles. Pioneers!!!!!

  • wtf whit the people

    fucking idiots

  • Dammit I wish I was alive in 1983.....

  • Just so you younger Headbangers know, Venom from England influenced Slayer, Check Venom's shit out, they are cool as fuck. If you don't believe me enter this into youtube and you will be a believer. "Venom Senile Decay". Holy shit! The song Senile Decay is one of my top 20 favorite songs of all time. Venom destroys!!!

  • @joeltrae

im a young headbanger, i just turned 14 a couple of days ago, and ive known Venom for like a year, still its good that youre spreading the awesome music of the first thrash metal and black metal band

  • @MetalHeadFilipeG96 same here rock on

  • Slayer make Metallica sound like pussies! I am 40 years old. Metalhead for the last 25 years.

  • man if i was there i would have been going crazy, people in crowd are a bunch of dumbasses.

  • why the hell the crowd just stand and watch?!?!?!

  • @MrKiller2505 i think they're expecting a glam band, and they get Slayer in their face lololol

  • From the very beginning of their career.

  • Amazing footage . Check the crowd - they dont know what to do .They were very before their time soundwise. You have to think what was around and popular in 1983 .Its kind of increadible to see the comparison with any band from playing to 300 non interested people then and today -30000 nutters .

  • Gods from 83! Thx:)

  • just imagine seeing them back then.. would have been sick!!

  • God this is fucking old skool man! I love it!

  • they were opening for bon jovi

  • @bergAgreb lmao you serious? slayer opend for bon jovi? thats fuckign classic

  • SLAYER RULEZZ

  • In the old times tom often was not using a pick.... In my opinion it's better and when I'm playing Slayer I also don't use them...

  • oh my god look at the guy pumping his arm in the air?!!!!! i will unscrew his head and shit down his NECK!!!!

  • @alifeofarcticsounds I like you, you can come over to my house and fuck my sister

  • They loks like iced over by the black magic.

Nobady even pick up a hand...

  • The crowd looks like they are watching Romeo and Juliet, not SLAYER! :S

  • @undergroundCCCC lol apperently moshing and head banging wasnt established in North America lol check out Mercyful Fate live 1983 their crowds moving but thts in Denmark :P

  • @smurfman95 moshing was invented by hardcore punk in the early 80's, and thrash metal wouldn't be fast without hardcore punk

  • @morethanfights Sarcasm.....

  • WE'VE STRUCK DOWN!!! Down in this Hell...

  • Man this is epic stuff! Love that first album

  • thats awesome! its probably not but it looks like Tom is playing a Fender

  • CURSED! Black magic knight.

  • They had abit of a KISS thing going on 0:32 seconds

  • @Ezza1974 Ha ha, you're right dude!

  • @Ezza1974 priest

  • @Ezza1974 judas priest actually

  • This show is insane imean look at the crowd they are going nuts

  • Talk about slow paced, or is it just me? ;)

and they look like some hair metal band at 0.30 xD

don't get me wrong, love slayer!

  • Caralho....não tem ninguém no show....vai num hoje para você ver....

  • As a amazing as Slayer is they are the only group that can get away with terrible guitar solos. Someday those guys are going to have to get better than when they were teenagers. Cuz bands like Nevermore, soilwork, mastadon etc. Are eating them alive.

  • @duelofthe what! hell now those bands are slayers bitches

  • The crowed are stood there thinking "who are these people"

"dunno some tramps we found on the road"

bet they never thought that they were watching the gods of thrash metal.

  • classic early 80s thrash-one of the founders.Slayer were just a damn good metal band

  • damn way back trip out, theres only like 20 people there

  • @plasteredbastard77

thats exactly how all shows look when there either a local band or just started as a band. i've been to like 3 local shows in my life, and they were all grindcore and i hate grindcore but i was sort of forced so i was nice and join my friends in the crappy show, anyways when i was there 3 times, everybody was just standing like mindless zombies and just watch the band played, nobody headbanged except 1 to 3 people, they had mosh pits for fuck sake but they cant headbang.

  • no, if you look, one guys headbanging on the side.

  • Baah cara muita pouca agente, e tu ve, agora os cara são os cara mais foda do Thrash Metal...

  • That well wasn't a extreme intro xD

  • I fukin' love Show No Mercy's Slayer

  • this video is awesome, early as it gets, its quite beautiful if ya ask me \m/

  • lol.................more people headbanging on stage than there are in the audience....that's a first......

  • AWESOME !! There's only like 20 people there!

  • @damianbranica Everybody has to start small

  • The beginning is like judas priest !!!

  • Now that's heavy metal!

  • good thing you erased that comment you sent me cause youre were wrong

  • I'm just saying that I like to enjoy the concert by watching the band.

  • well thats cool too but for some people the music just erupts inside them that makes them want to move

  • @wolfsblood07 no its thras metal! :D!

  • We don't need all the subgenres of heavy metal! It's either metal or not metal!

  • @lleo11

    Its thrasH metal >:)

  • Haha, imagine seeing Slayer at a venue this size nowadays!

  • This video is so funny, OMG. Head banging in unison? Shows you how far we have come in music. Then again even Pantera looked liked fools early on and look how they turned out.

  • lol i think headbanging in unison is cool.

  • the anouncer said slayer wrong lol

  • man that was the shit back then i wish i was there

  • there is no one there! its crazy!

  • Judas priest movements!

  • the voice is killer!

  • seriously if i was ther, not knowing this band.i would think it was spinal tap.the lights and synchronized moves lol its hilarious and fucking EVIL!!!!!

  • lmao i love enthusiastically the guy announced them. "please welcome..slayer..."

    it needs to be... "SLLLLAAAAYYYERRR!!"

  • @Xception2Rule lol yeah, or to combine what you suggested and what he said: "Please welcome.. SLAYYYYYYERRRRRRRR!!!!" :D

  • @Xception2Rule

haha true that. when i went to go watch the big four some guy yelled SLAYYYERR! while entering the room and everyone cheered.

  • @Xception2Rule how about the fact he says the opening band is slayer

  • good sound quality shit video quality

  • it's year 1983, so what you are waiting for

  • TOm isn't using a pick in this!

  • I know. Sometimes, using your fingers causes numbness.

  • shows how godly slayer is

  • @crazykb And a fender bass i think

  • the best song (favorite 5)

    METAL

  • 1:08. Bottom left corner. Fail.

  • And crowds stood still that time. :-)

    Great Music.

  • Cool, bad ass old Slayer vid.

I also loved those VSD vids from 1987. " Kill your kids" was a great metal song. And I loved the super fast VSD song " Life Of Scum". Old metal rules!!!!!

  • that was awsome this a rare gem

  • thanks for posting this super old Slayer video.

Check out some more old, unheard of metal by Baltimore's VSD on here. VSD- Kill your kids, Conformity Sucks, Mental Breakdown and 2 other songs, all recorded live in 1987.

  • wow. they must have been real low key back then, there's like no audience.

  • wow I see it but I can't belive it, is Tom Araya actually playing a Fender I'm not sure is it a precision or a jazz bass

  • @nemakur

This is a Fender Precision Olympic white (they were an iron Maiden cover band at the beginning :-), but I saw another shot here in which he plays a Fender Jazz Bass 1975-1979 (?). Tom turned to B.C. Rich before recording Show No Mercy, a wonderful NT Eagle special release I never found anywhere in the past two decades... And Kerry and Jeff were 19 years old in this gig, the "songwriting" is unbelieveble, more than other things! Tracks were as original (it was 1983!) as consistent!

  • this vid's badass!!!! gives me hope that my band can make it as big as slayer...specially seeing that we can pull a perty good amount of crazy fuckers haha... hope in a few years i'll have a vid like this and look back.

  • What's with the KISS moves?

  • seriously they do it like every 20 secs lol

  • wow. the ONLY slayr album that had standard tuning. after that they just got lower

  • actually, you cannot really expect the crowd to jump up and fight, this was infact one of the first gigs of Slayer. They just witnessed the born of greatness, they just didn't recognized it yet ;D

  • hahahha really nostalgic! love it!

  • tight as a fishes arse even back then

  • thers only a front row.fuk tht lol

  • There's no pit? Fuck that!

I'd be in there in a fucking second for that shit....

  • a pit didn't exist back in the day, people would just bang their heads and wave with their fists

  • there were pits. they started in the 70s. but this was slayer opening for anathor band and the crowd just sucked. it was weak

  • well pits weren't as extreme as they are nowadays, but yeah the crowd could at least bang their head or kick the shit out of each other, btw were they opening for bitch..? i can't quite remember. this is "EvilAggressor" btw

  • right, cause this crowd is gay

  • Comment removed

  • @SlaytanicMegaforce i think they opened up for bon jovi

  • nobody know what today is impossible watching the Slayer concert in first line without massacre

  • haha I know, you can't just watch a Slayer concert without gettting into a pit & murdering somebody, haha

  • Yes! The concert of Slayer is pure Armageddon!

  • dude.. those people had no idea who they were seeing open up that set.

  • Is no one there or is no one into it

  • lol LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, TO OPEN OUR SHOW TONIGHT, PLEASE WELCOME SLAYER!

    in a nice calm voice

  • Yess!!! My favorite Slayer song <3

  • Imagine the chiropractor's bill after 25 years of that kind of headbanging. I hope Mr. Araya has some good insurance coverage. All hail SLAYER

  • ha ha, love all the synchronised headbangin n shit; great song, great band, eagerly anticipating the new album.

  • I love old Slayer! They lost me after D.I.

  • they lost you with paul bostaph .. dave lombardo rules

  • sync headbang ahahaha.. slayer rules

  • wow thats so damn cool....watching a vid when they were just starting fuking amazing...

  • hey kerry king wasnt bold in the 80s?

    i didnt knew that

  • @quilmesredlager he shaved his head in the mid 1990's i beleive

  • wow...great fucking singing!!!!

  • Lol i wonder who they are opening for. Probably winger or something.

  • Why would Slayer open for a non Thrash band this early in their career?

  • Idk there weren't alot of thrash bands at the time. Just them, metallica, exodus. They are most likely opening for a hair metal band

  • Hur hur...to think, a Thrash band opening for the one thing they despise!(Thrash is retaliation to Glam, dude!)

If they would open for a band, it would be Venom or some other British Metal band.(oh yeah, that's what I meant. They'd open for the classic bands...but just not Glam.)

btw There's Anthrax and Overkill too(from New York), but Thrash bands stayed in their area at this time.
