Back in 1989 I was 15 yo and heard this song on the radio. It was played on a national metal show called (I believe Buzzsaw). The signal was weak but the chorus was always on my mind. I didn't catch the title of the song. I wanted to know who the artist was but it was until 2010 that I heard this on Sirius radio. I flipped me out and played the the outro about a dozen times. It gets me all the time. RIP DIO \M/

Awesome...this song hits you like a hammer! Wish I'd had been alive to see them play it live! Question: the version I've got on my 'Rainbow Rising' CD doesn't have that synth pad during the riff, or the sound effects on the drum fills in this version. Why??

@MrTMarshy i think on a cd version they changed the synthesizers as well as they took out all the keyboard riffs and all the vocals and delays but restored it on a remastered cd where its the same as the vinyl

@TheFreakWithTheCap - Think of it this way, my son: The fadeout in most songs is a copout, granted, but with STARGAZER (and its super-long fade), the fadeout device achieves that which most other songs are trying to convey and rarely do: that the song lives on... and on... and on... echoing into eternity world without end amen...
