@mudawhite If you're alternating knit and purl rows, it will naturally curl. It doesn't mean you're not doing it right, it just means you need a border around the edge or to use another stitch pattern!
@mudawhite Yes! For example, if you're making a stockinette scarf, knit 3 or 4 rows garter (meaning you knit every row), then work 3 knit stitches at the beginning and end of each purl row. On knit rows, you just knit all the way across. Before you cast off, work as many rows in garter as you did at the beginning. If you don't have Debbie Stoller's book "Stitch 'n' Bitch," I highly recommend it!
Stephanie, this is a stretch, because i don't think you have ever mentioned it, but do you know anything about the Yorkshire knitting technique of one-handed knitting using a sheath or knitting belt? I keep hearing references to that, but have never seen it or had it explained properly. I knit with a sheath, which is very similar to your pit knitting, but how on earth it could be done with one hand is totally beyond me.

@spershall so if I border it with 2 or 3 knit or purls then it won't curl? My knowledge of knitting is only knit purl cast off :)
