Oh please, it's easy to take dragons normally on the ground. Playing on middle difficulty I never had problems taking them quite head-on so far (go away for some distance when they used their fire breath was the only thing I really needed to do for defense).

havent played skyrim,but i would go to the ground so it could land and hit it easier

@stormer4ever You are a lot more vulnerable on the ground, but it's a safe tactic for the first one because you have so much help. For the tougher fights, especially on harder difficulties, you need cover a lot more.
