Lohan means 18 Palms of Buddha also 18 buddha palms, which can be translated as 18 palms of GOD, The basic 18 Lohan/ Arhat postures that is taught at the temple of most wusu schools is also a foundation of the Lohan. Lohan was taught by Daomo apprx389=500 A.D after the Ba da jing chi gong system, then came yi jin jing, followed by 18 Lohan. 18 Arhat is a more advanced form than the Lohan but similar. You learn Lohan first, then you learn Arhat.

nice. after years in themartial arts I have discovered the two lifestyles I want to master. One is the shaolin luohan for defense and the other is the tibetan trul-khor for spiritual enlightenment.

Luohan comes from the postures of 108 movements of the saint statues in the shaolin temple. Which means that it probably descends from Trul-Khor.

Which originally was a energy and full body and spirit cultivating exercise. But the shaolin morphed it for fighting.

Actually luohan quan comes from the "18" luohan statues and from there postures not 108, the statues each only have one pose each andf there were only 18 statues...hence the name and the first form of luohan is called luohan shi ba shou(18 hands of luohan) LATER on they add more movement when they turned it into self defense and made 108 postures. and shaolin has no connection historicly to tibetian lamaism, so why would you think it desends from trul-khor? lol

also bodidharma came from india during the 500 ad. not from tibet and the arts he brought were from india, where ever you got your information from about luohan(arhat) forms desends from tibetian exercises is strange, please research alitlle online before you feed the unknowning false information.
