i've listened to many goth bands, and to be honest, som doesn't sound goth to me.in fact,i don't know in what gender to put it,this is a band with great character, and i can't find anything similar.
I used to sneak out of my house every night and walk coatless through the subzero NY snows for miles to see my lover--just to hug her for 20 or so minutes before returning home--when I was 15. I'd go home and fall asleep to this song. Really takes me back.
@Lengsel7 my parents were meticulous about keeping things "in their proper place." to get my coat would have made too much noise and they would have woken up. fortunately, I did have a hooded sweatshirt and wore multiple tshirts under it. still way too cold though, as I recall. she broke my heart five years ago and I only just got over her 5 months ago after finally falling in love with someone else.
@CorvusKorax17 Sorry. It's NOT Goth, thats why he says that. When this music (and others like it) The Cure,The Cult ,Siouxe Sue,Bauhaus etc, etc. It was called Deathrock. "Goth" was a term started in the early 90's NOT Late 70's early 80's.And even more over We in the 80's also called this Music "Batcave Music"
batcave or old school goth... it's referring to the same thing, so who cares. it was more of a reference for people buying the music than the actual music itself. i doubt too many people in the 80s bought this and a madonna album too. @70bignuts
@70bignuts I recall people calling this Goth in 1985. I first heard the term applied to the style of music when The Damned's Phantasmagoria album came out.

This song is so beautiful and original. Sisters of Mercy is my favorite 80's goth band and the best in my opinion.
