@Guderian80 Exactly what I wanted to say. It had a certain feel to it, NATO vs Warsaw pact, I love all the aircraft from that era no matter the side, they are all legendary. Tu-22M and Tu-22 even more just look awesome.

You know, if u look at the Tu-22, u can clearly see that it's actually a very enlarged Su-24. I liked the shots where the bomber was shown dropping bombs. I'd like 2 see more of that too. What bombs were those from 2:45? FAB what? 500? 1000? I'd really like 2 see a vid with Russian bombers bombing something using the FAB-1500 or FAB-3000. I heard those bombs cause havoc in Afghanistan.

The Tornado's payload is not as extensive as the Tu-22Ms, The Tu-22M can fire ballistic missiles at supersonic speeds way beyond the range of Patriot missiles. But true, if you can extend the range of the Patriot or the pilots are not careful enough they can have a bad day. However, on the other hand if a stealth fighter (F-117) can be shot down from an old SA-3 missile, I can bet a B-2 Spirit can be easily shot down by an S-300 or S-400 surface to air-missiles.

Well the B-2A is the only aircraft along with the F-22 that can penetrate an airspace contested by an S-300 or S-400 missile complex. I do agree however that the new breed of Russian anti-radar weapons such as the Kh-31P (NATO:AS-17 Krypton) are potent threats to systems such as the patriot especially since the US does not have point defence systems such as the 9K22 Tunguska (NATO: SA-19 Grison) or the pantsir S1 (NATO:SA-22 Greyhound)

I can agree that the F-22 and B-2 can enter an air space guarded by S-300 or S-400. However, this is possible only theoretically and one of these planes will test this theory only in case of war. Also F-22 is a superb fighter, but it is not designed to fight other 5th generation fighters, the Russians already tested a successful prototype and the Chinese will do that soon, which "may" (not for certain) be superior. However, I don't know whether this is going to be tomorrow or after some years.

whatever it original intended target was, what was eventually assigned to T-22M was the role of "aircraft carrier buster". And it performed/threatened to perform highly effectively. US took the threat of T-22M to its aircraft carrier very seriously, which, if my memory serves me right, directly led to the development of F-14 and its uniquely powerful radar and long-rang air-to-air missile. Even so, I'm still not sure US aircraft carrier could withstand concerted T-22M assault, as told by Tom

At its time, the Tu22 was conceived as a strategical bomber, but became tactical with Tu-26 and Tu-160 's arrival. i don't think Blinder is on IA-PVO, but who knows? Russians only buy something when they're sure it's gonna work on the worst possible conditions.
