Maaaaan... Grace/Wastelands is just so wonderful! And in 15 Days I will meet Pete in Munich, he presents his album: Grace/Wastelands at this concert!!!!! I can't believe it that I will see him live :)
Always have this one when I'm revising - I'm doing poetry in English and one of the poems is Salome by Carol Ann Duffy. This song and the poem fit nicely together.
@ciaracustard Havisham and Education for Leisure are really very good, but seeing her live just ruined her for me, she just drones them out with no emotion or passion for them, she could of been calling for the register or something.
@fetta666 Think this song id borrowed from Wilde who was a decadent and wrote about the pleasure of the body and beauty and 'art for arts' sake and all that jazz so to speak, so I don't think it would be strange to find a song influenced from the decadent trend shallow.
The 2nd verse,"In the morning, shaken and disturbed, from under soft, white fur, I see the dust in the morning bright, sets the room alight." I love how Peter takes a scene we have all experienced: Dust particles suspended in sunlight--and with his poet's soul and artist's eye celebrates this simple, lovely moment in lyric and song. He so manages to set the scene with the magic of that description. Thank you, Peter for taking a universal experience and appreciating it's merit as wondrous.
Magical!! How does this guy not get seen as what he is, one of the greatest artists ever!! Look past the leeching media and listen 2 his music!! Love u pete. X
I may be completely off the ball but the first time I heard this I assumed that it was all about the crack pipe. Lighting the fire to get out of the dreadful cold and being seduced by what comes out of it but with the horrible repercussions. Obviously I know the story and the wilde play but I got the feeling that was petes spin on it.
its actually how he felt at home alone freezin at xmas in his crazy big country house i think in wiltshire ? alone & sad an yes ofcorse piped up but salome isnt the kick as u put it. if u rese4arch who an wat she is an did u ll get it. :)

@everythingswonderful That's a shame. I've had the same thing when I've heard authors read their own work. Sometimes it's better not to.

Hi,
I really love the first picture you choose (looks like Klimt). Do you know where I can find it? It's for a little girl named Salome.
Thanks a lot.

Pete's first solo album is a complete triumph. This song is devastatingly beautiful. Yeats, Verlaine, Dickens, Docherty. God save Arcadia.
