I doubt very much this is the first comment to mention it; nonetheless my own 2¢ worth is that in several cases, the example seems to illustrate the technique's failure. Certainly it's a matter of individual taste (in itself an element of uncertainty, individual taste>impossible to factor in perfectly>a sliver of hope?). So failure, I'm heartened. Best example, the results of "improving" an already appealing little boy: the features eerily transformed, appearing somehow cold, even vaguely alien.

@TheAlienesque I agree that it can be taken too far. But some retouching is necessary at times. For example, hair; i have no problem with retouching when it comes to hair because it's something that can be perfect. Its different every day. So taking away stray hairs, adding in hair where there are gaps, and changing color, is not unethical. Same thing with blemishes like pimples, if someone has a pimple, there is absolutely nothing wrong with removing it. Now liquify Liquify is the devil.

This is not an attack on any person's appearance. Yes, everyone is beautiful the way they are. This is only to showcase an artistic skill (whether you agree to it as art or not).It is easy to blame this kind of work and rationalize that the world is shitty because of it. The world is shitty to begin with, not because of portraits but choices people make.

@AmmoSpongex True true. Thats what I have been saying to friends and family when they give me credit for my photos, and that I always have so beautiful models. But in reality the average girl/dude in the street look as good if not even better than most of the celebrities.

Also, my girlfriend said she wished to look like a great model . So one day I had a photoshoot with her, and I edited the pictures so she would look like the average commercial girl. So media beaytu is usualy fake as can be.

As a photographer and one who does retouching of old photographs, I am able to do much of this myself, but I would NEVER put out a video to show off my work. Doing so takes the HUMBLE out of one's work and puts the EGO right smack in the middle of YouTube. I guess some people just need lots o strokes.

It's funny how blue/grey/green eyes tend to change more than brown-toned eyes. Mine used to be super bright blue and now they're more grey with a lot of yellow. Strange.

@mrcooban It's standarizing anglosaxon features as the highpoint of beauty. Marketing, movies, tv, all started with white people in charge. So they promoted what they saw as pretty to everyone else. Society envelopes these so when other races aspire to be standard beautiful, that means aspiring to be white.

An extreme example is Michael Jackson and all of his plastic surgery.

Whitening creams, hair straighteners, colored contacts.

It's the reason why any other race is considered exotic on tv

@yahooghanendra photoshop elements is the extremely scaled down version of the CS's. Apparently it is only for photography (nothing like graphic design) but I used it for a while and the range is really limited

@maggieXbarnes you select the eye in question with lasso or pen, whatever you want. then click the little ball with the black and white sides in the layer box and find hue/saturation. click. then mess with the saturation to make the eyes look brighter. works best with green/blue eyes.
