@InDifferenceBetween The 81 is better for tight metal rythm style sounds so it's better suited at the bridge. The 85 is better for solo/cleans tones so it works better at the neck, but you could switch them around if you wanted!

I used to have EMG's in my Jackson DKMG. I realized that EMG's active pickups compress the signal badly trying to push some sustain out of them. It's much better to EG your amp properly to get that sustain and use better pickups, so the compression doesn't suck the natural tones from the guitar out of the signal. I switched over to passive Seymour Duncans, on of the best guitar decisions I have ever made.

well take this as compliment^^ every1 think Jackson is the best guitar... i was buying new guitar months ago and i was choosing between Jackson and Ibanez. After many test I can say Ibanez is the real beast out here my friend:) i own xiphos XPT700 and it has the best body most comfortable for playing while you stand or sit, extremely think neck and good pickups and nice floyd. But after all Ill exchange my picks for emgs very soon:) if guitar sounds good that doesnt mean it must be Jackson;)

My tastes are pretty simple personally. The majority of it is about the sound, so I choose that and playing comfort, then choose something which looks nice and clean. I think some of the metal guitars nowadays look way over the top with their styling, and really detract from them. Hope that helps.
