  • I like this part when he starts singing sadly to slowed down tune of Brand New Day, this is probably the saddest part of the song.

  • i felt so bad for dr. horrible when i watched the movie and it got to the end! he got what he wanted by accidentally killing the girl he was in love with! and captain hammer is a cry baby

  • what game is this from

  • @Scarredgraymouse Not a game, it's a "short movie" called "Dr Horribles sing Along Blog" that was released on the web by Joss Whedon during the writers strike a few years back.

  • This is one of the very few movies that actually made me tear up! The first time I saw it I started crying at the end... :( But at the same time... it was such a perfect ending to a fabulous movie... I'm becoming convinced that Joss Whedon is indeed God.

  • It's called "Everything you ever" (:

  • "Could have been a better ending"??? Are you a Joss Whedon fan? If you are you should know he's known for killing off fan's favorite characters at the most unexpected times in the most unexpected ways.

  • I thought the ending was amazing.

  • i really love these vidieos! they are sooooo cool! and i kinda love the fact that the villan wins for a change. its a good plot twist to have Captin hammer wind up in therepy too :D

  • @222lostgirl VILLIANS RULE

  • The ending is perfect. The story is perfect as well. I believe it is from a different prespective so the ending shouldn't be happy for the general population but happy for the "hero" of the story. If Dr. Horrible was told from the persepctive of Captain Hammer then the ending should differ from its original version, but it is told from the perspective of the super villian (or lack there of) because Joss Whedon is a great writer.

  • @canonelan07 because being hurt by an exploding gun and suffering major trauma and having to go to therapy with a psychologist..... that's considered good when you look at it from captain hammer's perspective.

  • @garmo1968 lol yes

  • @canonelan07 The writing of this show is amazing, but you are wrong, this isn't about perspectives. Dr. H wants to join the ELoE to rule the world just 'cause, but 'Billy' wants to join to make a world that mirrors Penny. when she, the only reason Billy trumps Dr. H, dies, so does Billy, the only part of Dr. H capable of emotion. His victory is complete, as he has conquered the good in himself, but it is hollow as he has lost the only part of himself with a reason to fight.

  • @secretagentmann9 perfectly said

  • Part of me really agrees that there should have been a different ending. But the rest of me is to busy sitting there with my jaw open, shocked at how... beautiful the ending was. It may not have been happy, but I think it worked out better this way.

  • They should've had Captain Hammer go apeshit and try to kill (among other people) Penny. Dr. Horrible freezes Hammer, and winds up becoming a hero (the opposite of what he wanted, recognition as a villain by the ELE). He gets the girl and the masses' adulation, but he just thinks it's kind of weird. :D

  • That's the typical Hollywood ending, this one was better, Whedon was telling the birth of a new supervillain, and supervillains (or at least Marvel supervillains) usually get that way through tragedy.

  • At least my ending was funny.

  • But it wouldn't stay with the fans as this one has. Casablanca could have ended with Rick and Ilsa going back together and Victor Laszlo conveniently dying at the hands of the Nazis to make it "right", but then who would have cared about Casablanca 70 years later?

  • @samsam29 I fully agree with you. This is a tragedy in the Greek sense. He has to kill someone to get into the League, and who does it end up being? The one person he actually cares for. I think the whole song here is dripping with irony, leading up to the last scene - not in the meeting for for the League, but back in his apartment. Everything has a price - caveat emptor.

  • It''s called Everything You Ever.

  • Such a Whedon-esque ending...

  • The story echoes the warning of Buffy's sixth season.

Actually, if you think about it, Penny was the real hero of the story. Without any superpowers, she worked tirelessly and anonymously to help the people who needed her most, even though they could never pay her back.

Joss Whedon really knows how to make you feel it. I wish I was half as creative as he is.

  • I'm one of the weirdo's who almost cried at the end...This song brings me on the edge of tears every time I hear it...:( Great song, regardless.

  • i actually did cry.... :(

  • Same here

  • ya me too

  • anybody who doesn't almost cry doesn't have a heart =) Jking yeah i almost cried too

  • I cried my eyes out!!!!

  • I think the ending was spot on really. The irony behind it all was quite fitting.

  • the ending was harsh (for me) but this is kinda effecting me in reality: i want to ask this girl out and i want to join this lil group (they say they're gonna change "things" idk what they mean by things) which the girl is against :( cant make up my mind

  • I personally think you should go with the girl, because if you don't, a crazy string of events will kill her, just like in Dr Horrible. Because If Billy had gone and talked to her that day she was hunting signatures, she never would've died. Sorry if that was a little harsh, but hey, you're the one who said that your life is like this story.

  • Ask the girl out and forget about the group. That is just my opinion but you have got to decide for yourself. Which is more important to you? The girl or the club? It's choices like this that can lead you down a light road or a dark one.

  • I think the ending was perfect in that it's not really an ending, but a beginning.

  • This is my Second Favorie of 3 songs.

    1. It's a Brand New day

    2. Finale

    3. Slipping.

  • Joss Whedon is the only one who can make me sob like this. he really knows how to make it hurt.

  • goddammit, i didn´t see penny´s death coming... damn you, joss whedon, and your propensity for killing characters so it really, really hurts! but, well, perfect ending anyways...

  • Its perfect couse a hero is the motivation for a villain... Not the oposite! Just like in Batman the Dark knight!

  • Joyce, Tara, Wash... Penny... he always kills the best of us. ;(

  • Hey asshole, maybe you'd like to try to censor your comments a little. I bought the dvd's for Serenity and Firefly and even though I just started watching it, I now know that one of my favourite characters is going to die.

    Thanks, you bloody wanker.

  • well this song takes place after she dies so i figure you arent going to go and search for the song if you havent heard it already so sorry

  • Why the heck are you listening to the songs before you watch the series anyway? They give away a lot, like the bad horse calls.

  • Did you bother reading my comment? If so, why were you not able to realize that my comment was pertaining to Firefly, not Dr. Horrible. I've seen Dr.Horrible, not Firefly.

Why should a spoiler for Firefly be under a Dr. Horrible video when the two have nothing in common save for having the same creator?

  • well then thats your bad...get over it.. you can still thoroughly enjoy the series and the movie with that knowledge.. i go bacj and watch episodes like shindig and all that all the time.. wash is still one of the best characters ever.. and if you had been looking any stuff up ANYWHERE i'm sure you would have seen "i'm a leaf on the wind watch how i soar"

  • BS. There's absolutely no reason for any Whedon fan watching a music video for Dr. Horrible to be spoiled about Buffy, Firefly, or anything else and vice versa. I've been staving off watching Firefly MV's for that exact same reason, so as to not be spoiled.

The least anyone could do is be considerate in their commenting for others who haven't enjoyed the series.

  • @thelonew0lf Please calm yourself. You're getting riled up over a simple movie! Besides, it's better that she dies, how can she be your favorite character. HA! Dr. Horrible is my favorite. :)

  • I loved the ending to this movie, it's so heart breaking because he has to give up everything about himself to become Dr Horrible, and you see what it cost him and that even if on the outside he seems ok on the inside it's tearng him apart. The blend of Dr horrible and Billy at the end is amazing. I love this song.

  • Not only did he pass the initiation, but by "killing" Penny, he erased any lingering emotional connection he had with the rest of the world.

  • Couldn't have put it any better myself.

  • @Gigaspine7 Thats a great point! It would make for a good sequel to see how different he becomes after penny dies and he joins Dark horses team.

  • The fact that the people who watched it can't get the ending out of their head demonstrates how good it was.

  • the moral of the story was be carefull what you wish for you might just get it

i learned this from the lines

    then i win

    then i get

    everything i ever

    all the cash

    all the fame

    and social change

    (slipping song)

and in this part of the movie it shows him first robbing a bank then the groupies with the picture of him. then something i forget. which proves that he got what he wanted... but at what cost :| :( :C

  • no i personally thought he would kill the bad... err... good guy and get the girl, but im old fashioned like that.

  • @EvilDuckMe15 I like that idea

  • I thought the ending was perfect. Penny had to die in order for the last two words to be as powerful as they were. And those last two words were so impactful that I can't help but listen to this song over and over again.
