  • Bruce Pritchard (Brother Love) heading the commentary.

  • Bruno greatest of all time

  • Special commentary by Gilbert Godfried.

  • Comment removed

  • "too many spaghetties and meat-a-balls?"

  • Pittsberg Pennsylvania must be the birth place of great wrestlers Bruno Sammartino and Kurt Angle. FTW

  • @Dewaynesite1 Bruno was born in Italy - Not PA. They immigrated after the war. For yeasrs the WWWF billed him as from Abruzzi, Italy

  • why they said livig legend

  • in this match bruno had a hip replacement and a disc replaced in his back. he still kiked his ass!!!

  • @HeartPiece4u The sad thing is, Bruno (unlike Flair and Hogan) did not want to return to the ring and hang onto past glories and future paychecks from Don Vinnie-but McMahon, despite his now putting Bruno into the twilight zone of history, knew when certain houses were slow, the name of Sammartino on the card put asses in the seats and money into his pocket. I loved Hercules Hernandez RIP.

  • Ring the bell, Hercules tapped at 3:16

  • Bruno broke the count, Big Herc is the true winner in my books!

  • Since when did Gilbert Godfried commentate wrestling matches?

  • Who else would love to see Bruno return and literately shove Vince's head up Cen'a ass

  • @Paul8820 I would-thx to Don Vinnie we may never see the best matches of Bruno Sammartino from 1963-1972.

  • Respond to this video... Mike McGurk was a GREAT announcer.

  • @RPenta yeah but as ring announcer she kinda fell flat

  • @Paul8820 You mean you want Bruno to reverse their current positions?

  • Mike McGuirk should take Michael Cole's place in the booth or take Justin Robert's spot as the Raw ring announcer. Thumbs up anyone

  • Bruno changed everything, there would be no Hogan, no Stone Cold, no The Rock, and definitely no John Cena. Brunot the greatest WWE Champion of all time. End of story.

  • I noticed that the WWF has doing exclusive house show tapings in the Sam Houston Colesium. And these were always the commentators. Kinda like MSG network exclusive New York house shows. Where these shown in full for texas viewers?

  • Mr. Bruno "The Italian Superman" Sammartino will 4EVER be The True LIVING LEGEND of PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING of ALL TIMES! =0)

  • Pete Doherty sucked

  • @AceDagger1 yeah.....such an idiot he was

  • That annoying voice would be career contender Pete "Dude" Doherty; as annoying in the ring as at the announce booth.

  • Who is that guy who sounds like Gilbert Gotfried doing a pirate impersonation?

  • Doherty sounds like a parrot

  • Judging from this, Bruno could've legitimately wrestled til he was 60 easily. And by legitimately, I mean as a genuine athlete and wrestler, not like Hogan and Flair etc who were only really there for there persona after they got older.

  • sorry I take it back,he was more active slams and hiptosses and groundwork in an earlier match than this,he looks alot older here,it was a different time,I grew up in the 80s era, can't stand the days of our lives shit they have on wwe these days,so I guess in his day Bruno was good.

  • All the matches I seen Bruno have were him punching and kicking, never seen him bodyslamed or him bodyslam anyone,he didn't seem to take much risk at all, even andre the giant and other 70s wrestlers were more versatile, and im not from that era, nothing against him but dull to watch.

  • intense at 4:54

  • Hercules had "the look". All the best wrestlers had it.

  • Bruno should have jobbed, looks like hes about 60 here.. Herc never got a decent push..

  • @ontheroof99 first of all you replied to the wrong person, and secondly steroids didn't kill eddie. did u read his damn book? His body was worn down from years of painkiller and alcohol abuse.

  • was this before wm3?

  • @ontheroof99 it wasn't the roids that killed Hercules. Pills kill.

  • I want to choke out that annoying, hoarse-voiced idiot on the commentary team. He tries too hard to be funny and he fails, epically.

  • Bruno is into his 70's amd still benches more than most of us. He is and always be Our hometown hero. Kurt Angle has a lot of work to do to catch Bruno

  • Mike McGirk for Hall of Fame

  • WTF Brother Love, Mike McGuirk and Pete Doherty on commentary??? Was the WWF hijacked that week?

  • @buttercremehonda This isn't unusual. This trio did commentary for house shows in Texas during the mid 1980's.

  • Bruce Pritchard LOOOOOOOOOOOVES YOOOOOOOOOOU!!!!

  • After announcing this match, did "Duke Dory" go chase Batman with his henchmen?

  • One of the announcers sounds like Gilbert Godfried! :p

  • Bruno was legit one the the overall strongest wrestlers ever. Plus being steriod free. He benched 565 and also could squat like 850. Now Hercules was always booked as one of the strongest and could probably legit bench 500 plus, but 850 squat I don't think so.

  • in bruno's prime, he was a lot bigger than hercules was in this match, and steroid free.

  • @mferg240 In Bruno's prime, he was probably close to 285 pounds and he was much more powerful than any wrestler at any given time.

  • @AccordionProfessor without a doubt, bruno was documented doing 38 reps of 330 pounds on the bench press without hesitation and as raw as you can get. and the man did it without steroids.in i believe 1959 he did his 1 rep bench of 565 pounds, which was unheard of back then, if it wasn't for his strenuous wrestling schedule, he would have been the first man to ever bench 600 pounds.

  • @mferg240 Growing up in the 50's and 60's, Bruno was my hero. I idolized Bruno as a young boy who loved wrestling. I met Bruno a few times and was also fortunate enough to see a few major bouts with him wrestling. I was present at one of his matches with the great Ivan Koloff who was no slouch in the strength department as well. Bruno was a power house of a man and yes, I agree 100% with your views on him. Have a great week. Too bad wrestling had to change so much.

  • pete doherty's voice caused more suicides than depression

  • @BrunnerJamFilms

sorta makes you wanna hit the mute button doesnt it? LOL!

  • @BrunnerJamFilms LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!

  • well hes 75 years old today and can still put guys half his age to shame!

  • Bruno was 53 in tis video.

He was born in 1935...he still looks just as great.

  • Bruno held the title the first time for 8 years not 12,then hel;d it again for like 3.5 years the second time.

  • @donn409 and mrach198, "tapping" as a form of submitting in pro wrestling (in the United States) didn't get acknowledge til the mid 90s when Ken Shamrock joined the WWF and used the ankle lock as his finisher. The popularity of UFC is helped educate the pro wrestling audience to understand what tapping out meant. If you watch prior to that it was rare for top stars to submit, especially babyfaces. Nowadays, see you tapping the mat as a sign that the guy submitted

  • @MangaMoogleMan Bruno is the greatest WWF/WWE Champion of all-time. Bob Backlund is in second place for his 6 years as the champion with Hogan in third place with 4 years in his first reign as champion.

  • penis

  • @mrach198 Tapping is tapping regardless of which era it was in.

  • I saw Hercules tap at 3:17. Hercules must've had the referee in his hip pocket. I guess Hercules loss to Hogan was justified.

  • Despite only winning the WWF/WWE Championship two times Bruno is still the WWE's greatest champion. Bob Backlund is the second greatest champion with Hogan in third place.

  • @donn409 Uh, sorry, but Bret Hart takes 3rd, then Hogan

  • @awesomedude111able No, Bret doesn't take third. His championship reigns didn't come close to Hogan's four years as champion. Only Bruno's and Backlund's title reigns lasted longer.

  • Doherty sounds like Gilbert Godfried, lol.

  • The guy commentating sounds like a cartoon villian! lol

  • RIP big herc

  • mike is funny

  • The Hercules was a great wrestler.

  • Dont quote me on it but didnt bruno work for the wcw after the wwf

  • @wrestlebash82 I know he was guest referee for Flair/Sting vs Funk/Muta at Halloween Havoc 89, and appeared at some anniversary show on TBS, which also featured Andre's last appearance on a wrestling show in the USA. I don't remember any other WCW appearances other than those two

  • @wrestlebash82 No but Jesse Ventura did. He was an announcer from 1991-1994.

  • The difference between Bruno's physique and Hernandez's physique is Bruno got his through weight training and good old fashioned hard work, while Herc got his from a vial of Dianabol or some other steroid. By the way, the ref in this match is former Texas wrestling favorite Nick Kozak.

  • @elc1960 wow and he was 52 years old here.

  • @elc1960 Which is why Bruno is still alive & Herc is dead.

  • @Lfdjake91 Precisely.

  • Not remotely believeable.

  • i think the one comentator is the bird from aladin

  • Bruno Sammartino = The True Legend of Professional Wrestling

  • @JeffTheFutureJaros This, I think was he last ever televised match in the WWF

  • Who are the brutal announcers?

  • @fjccommish LOL - you got that right. The announcers, such as they are, are Bruce (Brother Love) Pritchard, career jobber Pete Doherty (not Kate Moss' ex-boyfriend), and former WWF female ref Mike McGuirk (who sued Vince over various personal issues).

  • @elc1960 I can't fault Pritchard too much. He did what was asked of him and knew the business. Pete was probably trying to launch into a new aspect of the business for him. McGuirk thought too much of herself.

  • @elc1960 Actually Mike McGuirk was a ring announcer not a ref. The female ref who later sued Vince McMahon was Rita Marie.

  • What tipped you off? Italian Immagrant

  • Once Bruno couldn't lift guys up anymore and throw them down with full body slams, he really had nothing left.

Bruno should have taken some suplex lessons from Harley Race.

  • Suplex is tougher than a body slam, plus Bruno never lost his ability to throw slams. He had a lot of back problems by thistime but still benches 350 at 75 years young.

  • @Stugazza --Really? The way Race does those suplexes, it looks like it takes leverage and a single burst of energy. Technique is much more important that strength. I'd bet Harley could still do 'em when he was 65.

Body slams look like they require a lot of arm, back and shoulder strength. Bruno seems to have been unable to do them anymore in any of the late-period clips.

I bet Race could have taught Sammartino how to do one or two of his suplexes if Bruno had been willing to try to learn.

  • Bruno had to be in his 50's.

  • @RangerRob2009 51 or 52. Born October 6, 1935

  • That is one of the most annoying voices I have ever heard. 7.09 is more than I can stand.

  • guys look up sammartino now, he is still in great shape. still muscular, but just a size smaller (you know what I mean).

  • 6:35 I like how the ref ignores Bruno's interference and continues to count Hercules out.

  • Yes he is. It is obvious

  • Awesome posts of The Duke of Dorchester. Check out the Duke of Dorchester Appreciation Society on Facebook. Thanks for the vids.

  • nice to hear Iago the Parrott doing commentary

  • You can tell by Doherty's voice he's a heavy smoker

  • @NYCman530 That voice is gimmicked.

  • R.I.P. - Ray "Hercules Hernandez" Fernandez

  • Awesome, Bruno vs Herc, Nice Post man, Lovin' the vids.
