Debut albums seem to be the best 'ten', 'parachutes' , 'debut', 'blue lines' , 'appetite', 'dire straits', 'gish'. What does this say about record companies?????
gish=psychedelic, SD=hard alter. and hard psychedelic, MCIS= soft and hard psychedelic and alter., Adore=soft alter., machina= hard and soft progressive alter., machina 2= hard and soft electronic alter. and progressive alter., Zeitgeist=hard and soft progressive alter. this band is genius musically and even more genius in how they're music progresses and changes throughout the albums
@saturn761 ahh how could i forget!! well they're all beautiful in there own pumpkiny way. did u guys read that one of the girls on siamese dream actually is in the band right now! far out!
the rhythm and the chords from the beginning probably drew their inspiration from Rumble by Link Wray XD billy is known for acknowledging his influences. i wonder if i'm right 'bout this one.
If Nirvana had never happened, Smashing Pumpkins would have shaken the world. As it is, they still took their share of the limelight from Seattle bands, all during the dawn of the 'Grunge" era. It was Nirvana, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins. I hate the way the Pumpkins went out, but their early stuff made my life magic, and I will miss those times forever.
@eqsheiky, I saw the pumpkins open, followed by Pearl Jam, and then Red Hot Chilis back in 1990. One of the best nights of my life. American Theater, St. Louis, MO.
@ThatRascal WOW, whip out your crayons and color me jealous! So much good music was coming out then. That sounds like an amazing line up, especially considering where those bands were, musically, at the time.
@eqsheiky Yeah basically this guy got to listen to stuff from Gish, Ten and Blood Sugar Sex Magik, fuckin amazing. I can only imagine how badass it was being there since I was only like 6 months old haha.
it's just sounds different... Mellon Collie is great but band was 4 years older at the time and they can't make the same music for sure... Gish was a psychedelic masterpiecie, one of the best records EVER made.
I also wanted to say that the lyrics in the songs represent Billy Corgan intellectualising the divine. In this song, Billy is writting about the demons (shadows) around his spiritual heart, weighing him down, blocking divine love.

i like how psychadelic it sounds. A song like 'bullet with butterfly wings' is too pop for me.

Are you an idiot?
THIS made them famous.
You type like a 12 year old valley girl.
