  • brings back some amazing memories...like being afraid to walk around the next corner because i thought the strogg were going to come get me.

  • Wicked graphics for a old-school game.

  • I love in how this game you could blow the heads off enemies or shoot them and they fall over yet they still with their last ounce of strength fight back and try to kill you

  • Quake 1, 2 and three are cool (Q1 had better story and monsters, Q3 best for multiplayer and Q2 in the middle).

    You are right about Quake 4, it lost it's . . . well . . . quake-ness

  • It's fake! Original Quake 2 got only 3 difficult levels: Easy, Normal, Hard. Nightmare is fake!

  • @PikoSimonek123 Think before you type. Some Q2 ports have the Nightmare difficulty as a selection, but you can still play Nightmare mode on Vanilla Q2 with a simple console entry. So no, Nightmare is not fake

  • wtf wrong song epic fail

  • Nightmare in Quake 2?

  • I have found out that on mine by entering skill 3 into the console and then map base1, that it comes up with something called hard+, the total number of enemies on that skill is about the same as on hard skill, but typically the enemies are a bit harder to destroy on hard+, but is there a special way of actually getting the true nightmare skill level itself on quake 2, like using some special code or something? Or is it available only on certain editions of Quake 2?

  • @erastpetrovichfandor Of course he is not playing on hard level. On hard level in outer base there are 14 guards and 5 enforcers - a total of 19. In the video shown, there looked to be about 18 guards and about 10 enforcers, a total of about 28. So clearly that was the nightmare skill level. How does one access this nightmare skill? Mine has just easy, medium and hard skill. Is it a special code that has to be entered into what I call the "console"?

  • THIS IS FAKE the real quake is better and that´s not the first music its all wrong dumbass

  • @magnusm4

Let's just ignore the "fake" part and goto "that´s not the first music..".

You DO realize that Quake 2 music plays off the CD, right? You know, CD music? Tracks? Changeable/skippable tracks?

    Rings a bell?

    NEXT!

  • @magnusm4 How do you mean it's fake?

  • @magnusm4 wow, your a moron arent chu buddy

  • @magnusm4 this looks pretty damn real to me?

  • Much harder than hard. Looks like there were about 4 more "enforcers" to deal with on nightmare than on hard. My version (which I am having problems getting to install on Windows Vista - it used to work on the old Windows XP) has only easy, medium and hard levels on it, but maybe there is a special trick to get the nightmare level. All that said, I would probably not manage it anyway, because it looks so much harder than the hard skill, which could be quite a struggle in parts.

  • he's probably playing with the EGL engine, witch has the Nightmare level btw

  • how do you nightmare on quake II (if it exists)?

i've had it since 1997 and never even thought about it. if it does exist then that would be cool since Hard is too easy for me now after playing the game a 100 times :(

  • Only people that lived in 90s will get this xD

  • DAMN How many enemys are their

  • wow that brings back some memories

  • I would love to see a BFG10K shot with this version... fuckin badass effects compared to the 1st one

  • what mod you use

  • Whats the difference in Nightmare? Are there any damage multipliers or do the enemies have more health? Or is it just a S-Load of spawns?

  • Maybe it's smarter Enemy AI.

  • This is verssion with custom effects or what? Its my first FPS too (im from 1992).

  • no crosshair?!

  • Emh its kinda nightmare mode

  • yea u dont need no x-hair if ur on nightmare

  • ...and the resolution set high enough to make the hud numbers almost invisible :/

  • Infinitely spawning enemies? Id or not I always thought that was a DOOM only thing, that must be fun

  • It is all fun and games until someone runs out of ammo. :P

  • Good ol Quake 2 :D The tastey Spleen server is always populated.

  • hell yea i play on all there servers.

  • First fps I had ever played as a child(1993 I was born)

  • Same here :)

  • I have a question aobut the games. I have the PC version of Quake IV with Quake II expansions on it. But, the music isn't working. Anybody know what the problem is?

  • same prob here, don't know what the hell's wrong with it :/

  • not sure if your still having the problems but i use to have that problem with Quake II and Dark Forces II but one time when i restarted windows after a virus, the music was working fine. also many old games have the music on the cd so make sure thats in when you play it.

  • I'm looking for a team to play the whole game on co-op without dying. msg me.

  • Ive got a problem I dont know how to install the Knightmare engine and unfortunately I lost my disc to the game so I had to get it back by using a torrent )= how do I set this engine up with the torrent?it didnt come with an exe to install its just all crammed into one folder.Could anyone help?send me a message.

  • So, you beat the game to unlock Nightmare skill, or something?

  • the normal shotty is my favorite gun from quake 2, along with the nade launcher

  • i like quake 2 more than crysis

  • how do you get the nightmare skill level?

  • what cheat did u use?

  • quertzoid, I wouldn't be taking damage in godmode, and I wouldn't be running out of ammo if using weapons cheats. So take a wild guess.

  • ahhh Quake 2 memories coming back. Fuck this game was great and the music was badass too. This game shits on any new games. It was all about speed and percision and blowing everything the fuck up. Many o summer nights up till 3-4am playing CTF multiplayer when I was in junior high. hahaha Do ppl still play this online? I still have my disc. You need to jump more.

  • Yeah, jumping and strafing around to dodge (I never really got used to that).

I am just ruined after playing games slow as fuck these days designed for gamepads (ie. console ports) mostly, eleminating the need to jump at all. Compare games today with games like Quake and Unreal back then. Hell, even Doom3 was slow as hell (hehe). Although ROE expansion was kickass.

Anyways, probably the reason why games like Crysis and GearsOfWar don't interest me at all.

  • yea people still play this online. me and my friend do all the time

  • r u sure this is first levil

  • to think people once struggled to get a good video card to make that work :)

today even one of the oldest video cards can make that run on maximum graphics

  • dude this isn't on nightmare skill!

    but cool graphics!

  • How do you know this isn't nightmare? This is from first level where there are only two types of enemies, besides, you can see that enemies keep on spawning up until I exit the level (else they keep on coming).

  • sorry... my mistake... watching it twice... i see they are respawning... i played this first level on hard and there were a lot more enemies.. but it still looked like they weren't putting up much of a fight... but the fact they are re-spawning proves it is nightmare skill, no hard feelings???

how do you choose nightmare skill anyway???

i only can choose from easy / medium / hard

  • Nightmare mode I believe comes after installing few updates. I had this copy of Quake2 in my old collection disc (which has all Doom/Quake/DukeNukem games and mission packs) and it runs with improved graphics and updated difficulty settings.

It probably looks easy because, like I said, it's the first level, it's not much of a challenge. I posted the video to only show what the difference of Nightmare difficulty does to the first level itself.

  • oh okay!, that's cool!!! do you know possibly... where i could find this difficulty update?? or are you going to tell me to google for it? ;)

  • (i only watched about 1 minute and thought it looked like it was on easy

  • There are 3 different enemies in the first level actually:

The Light Guard, The Shotgun Light Guard and the Enforcer

  • It is night mare. Theres wayyyyy to much enemies for even hard

  • yeah i know it's nightmare now!!! but my question is! how do you get this modification that allows you to choose the nightmare skill level, because it's not on the original quake2

  • I really can't remember where I got it. I'll take a look and see if I have the install somewhere (or a link to the site).

  • thanks so much!

  • I'd like to know it too! I'm planning to make a Q2 playthrough, but without nightmare skill it would be crap =/ So can you please let me know of it? ^^

  • mmm... quake2xp?

  • OMG!! Someone who probably searched the Google or knows about the secret world of Q2 mods.

Amazing. (lol seriously dude, you are like the second guy who knows about it here)

  • Trorro-torrote!

  • When I play Q2, with the XP mod, I get these weird black boxes every time I blow something up ?

  • quake 2 by far the best of all quake games ...

  • quake 2= Best quake ever, #4 imho was terrible, not quakey enough

  • this is indeed a pure fps and btw Quake 4 rocks ars

  • I remember thuis game.....lots-o-gore lol WUAAAAAAAAH! *SPLAT* *BOOM* AGHHHHH!
