Can anyone tell me if this game has improved? I know it had alot of problems but i've heard they're trying to fix everything. I really wanna play this cuz it looks great but i dont want to play for looks alone lol.
@cmurda31080 I played at release and it was pretty bad but I recently came back to see all of the changes and I am having a lot of fun. It is playing better on my machine and I am having fun leveling up and getting into the storyline. There is a patch coming that will add White and Black Mage, Bard, Monk, Warrior, and Dragoon. They are advanced type jobs after getting certain classes to 30. At 30 you get a Goobue mount too and it's HUGE xD End game there is the Ifrit fight and Good King Moogle.
Im sorry to all gamers who still play final fantasy. But final fantasy has truly gone downhill now. The only great Final Fantasy game that has ever been made is Final Fantasy 9

Storyline in this game is great and the cutscenes are amazing. I hope they pad it out with more and more and more story driven content in Version 2.0 which is what I think they'll be doing. And hopefully all storyline content is voiced and a few HD cutscenes wouldn't hurt either.

The cutscenes, the art design that you see here in this video is from the OLD DEV TEAM of TANAKA... and NOT YOSHIDA. Yoshida stated in MANY comments, that FFXIV is not Final fantasy typic enough.. in EVERY way.. art design, classes (gladiator etc.)... and the new dev team is driving it more into the final fantasy direction (jobs like white mage etc.) and the art and story/world design as well!
@Max9string Not saying its much better now but they're overhauling it and its a lot different than the one shown in the video here, this one is outdated now. They are implementing a job system in the next patch too which should bring with it new abilities and weapon skills and stuff and according to Yoshida (director) a lot more abilities are planned for Version 2.0 for the classes currently in the game. They completely overhauled the system. I think its better now but I'm waiting for 2.0

@GrayFox2k8 No~ it wont. If you're referring to the real patch v2.0 that wont come out till September -October 2012. Patch 1.21 will have 7 new job classes which summoner is not one of them. 2 months ago this information was available.
@SwordandShield Sadly nothings been announced. Only classic magic classes coming back in 2.0 are Bard, White Mage and Black Mage. I only that when they put Summons in the game they don't make them as useless as they were in FF11.

@EDDY5311 whilst that year old news is clinging to the game like a bad rash a vast majority of the problems that caused friction with the players have been addressed and fixed, hence why i've returned to the game quite happily recently.
can buy it off ebay for like 15 bucks hey, there is no subscription fee for like the next month and a bit at least, so if you want to give it a go, get it while its cheap

@VvAnarchangelvV I know this comment is 4months old but this person has got a wonderful point that many people miss. A beta test isn't just for you to get access to the game early, it is to help with finding bugs. However FF14 started out bad before the beta, so that wasn't the case there xD.

@ploppingplop its a lot better now. combat is like nothing you see here because it is more fasts pace and improved. the game is still going though the fixing phase, so its nice to play through it for free and see the changes first hand.

Well FFXIV will be re-released in a year, with new graphics engine, new client, new areas redesigned.. it will be a complete new game.
and jumping/swimming is planned as well.
Leviathan gets also redesigned by the new team.
