  • James Brown in an emerald green suit.....BAAAAD AZZZZZ.....

  • @archieoogly--to each his own, but how about the scene when The Dr. picks up "Mom" and drops her in the junkyard? OR the stoned hot tub scene with the "Girls"? TK Carter imitating Skridlow on the phone:"Say, man, how you gonna get away with all that yarnghh sh**?" This movie is camp AND it rules.

  • TK Carter at his finest

  • an 80s classic!

  • Daniel Edward "Dan" Aykroyd is always great and funny. Audience can't stop laughing. Doctor Detroit received an honorary Doctor of Literature degree from Carleton University in 1994. Well deserved Doctor.

  • anyways else notic Dr.Detroit kinda sounded like his other character the Conehead lol this came on last nite randomly on hbo and caught me by surprise..I NEVER heard of this shit lol and I'm usually up on all the ill movies! funny tho

  • Dan, what happened to Dr. Detroit 2, the Wrath of Mom? Always loved this movie.

  • James Brown did the move..!

  • Is there a reason Doctor Detroit looks like Elton John?

  • Donna Dixon and Fran Drescher, a couple of super-hotties, not necessarily in that order, either.

  • GIMME THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE!!!!

  • love the chubby white dude on the bass, man. "keep goin' James, I'm wit ya!"

  • IS'NT FUNNY HOW YOU GET OLD the beauty of a woman just fades away when you're in your late 50ish and then your body starts to get wrinkled and saggy at 65 but fran descher is still looking good & hot for age at age 54

  • love it,love it,love it!!i am a big fan of dan ackroyd and he is a genius!!! i loved him in the blues brothers and i loved him in this movie..cable companpies refused to show this movie for some odd reason..i have not see it on the air..since the early 90's..what is up with that!!!

  • "The only scene worth watching..."? Really? Have you even watched the rest of it? Have you ever seen a movie that was done pre-1990? The dream he has is hilarious and well-written, along with the comical turnouts of almost every situation in the movie. The whole beginning partying trip? You need to open your eyes when you watch movies.

  • YOUNG'nnnnnnnnnn!!!!! aLL i recall from this movie was thee title & "did they rape you, did they molest you...i want to know ALLLLLLL thee details" lmfao

  • This is one of the greatest comedies of all time! So many classic quotable lines.

  • Oh and Also Triva about the Second Movie as said by Fran :)

Man: Why didnt they make a second DR DETROIT

Fran: Well we were told that if we made a profit we would be alowed to do a squeel we had an 8 million buggett and the movie made 8million 100 thousand we made a profit like the contract, we had signed said a small one but we still made one so we could of made the second one if we wanted and Dan was writing it but Dan got a better offer and scraped the idea

  • Only bad thing is there isint a second you but the cast as of now isint that old and i think the could and should do ir

  • NO way ~ the 1st mom face off was classic ~

  • As a kid I LOVED this movie, I was 4 and 5 watching this and had NO CLUE what in the WORLD it was truly about.....hookers.....its still a great movie but I was just into the character of Dr Detroit

  • @1980Triumph EXACTLY!!!!! I just enjoyed the adventure of Dan Akroyd turning into a different person. Not even realizing that he was a psychedelic, claw hand PIMP!!!!

  • @Ronlg1

LOL, yes that is what it was, its great though that the wicked tones went right over young heads. I wish there was a part 2

  • yeah, me too!!!! didn't they hint at a part two at the end of the movie?

  • @Ronlg1

they had a full splash at the end to showcase that there would be a part 2, but because this wasn't a success as they hoped, it never came to be

  • ah man, that's messed up

  • @Ronlg1 Now THAT'S the original Funk Doctor!

  • Diablo...drive my man go, go, go

  • Oh my fucking god... Fran "the Nanny" Drescher is in this ... I think I just jizzed in my pants!

  • If you liked that cameo you'll love her in Spinal Tap.

Best line in this movie; "I'll rip off your head and shit down your neck, Mom..."

  • I do adjustments to the human spine

  • I have chicken chains

  • That dance scene will be going down at my wedding. I swear it on my 80's birth heritage!

  • @JGordonPanic: that's an awesome idea! Do it!

  • Love this movie, Doctor Detroit is one of the underrated films of the 1980s. A funny film, still funny to this day, like this dance scene and James Brown singing an awesome song.

  • @jeffman52001

    hell yeah

  • I loved this movie! I actually knew the dance scence!

  • LOVED this flick when I was a kid. Good memories :)

  • movie was AWESOME!!!!1 DOCTOR DETROIT DOCTOR U U DOCTOR DETROIT DOCROR U U :D:D:D

  • I think that was if not the best, splits james ever done.

  • Donna Dixon was so freakin' smokin' in this movie. I guess Ackroyd thought so too as they were married shortly after.

  • still a Highlight!

    R.I.P -. James Brown

  • funny as hell when he is the southern lawyer

  • All I have to say is........Dr. Detroit is alll that! If you havent seen this movie, then u have missed the boat!!!!! Pure Comedy. A Classic . TASHA G.

  • "But the Dr. doesn't exist! There is no Dr.!.....He does if you believe in him brother!" yeah, it was a little corny, but this was a damn good scene!

  • When I heard Rush Limbaugh refer to Obama as 'Dr. Chicago', since he seems to play one on the health-care talks, I thought of this scene from Dr. Detroit. Of course, I think Ackroyd dances better. Also, you did not mention the blond who plays one of Dr. Detroit's women is Ackroyd's wife, Donna Dixon. Great video.

  • DOCTOR DETROIT II: THE WRATH OF MOM

  • The ultimate Players Ball on film!

  • A Cult Classic in my book. Excellent and stupidly hilarious.

  • I saw this movie when I was 8 yrs old and had no idea he was a PIMP, lol... I thought it was funny movie though

  • Doctor hoooo hoooo Detroit !!

  • What ever became of Lydia Lei who played the beautiful Asian babe Jasmine? She is sooo HOT!!

  • She hasn't made anything since a late 80s cop show episode.

Probably got married and became a stay-at-home mom.

  • Holy shit!!!!

I have not seen this movie in years!!!!

    Doc-tor De-troit!!!!!

I love this movie for Danny Ackroyd, T.K Carter, and Fran Drescher!!!

    Too much!!!!!

Did any one notice Anthony Kedis' (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) daddy in the the last few minutes of the the movie 'bidding 500' on the Doctor? LOL!!! Blackie Dammitt? He's in there, too ! Love him from National Lampoon 'Class Reunion'!

The 80's were so-o much fun!!!

  • oh shit T.K. Carter ...aint seen him in a movie in a while

  • love the big hair

  • I'm going to rip off your head and shit down your neck, Mom.

  • Dr. Detroit turned that Playa's Ball out!

  • git up off that thang!

  • The Funky go Doctor!!

    :D

  • There are quite a few memorable scenes & lines from this funny film, though, this scene, is, clearly, one of its highlights.

  • THE DOCTOR IS IN!!!!.....

  • Doc-tuh.. Detroit, Doc-tuh.. Ooo-ooo

  • The blonde, Donna Dixon, became Dan Akroyd's wife, thanks to this movie.

  • lol.. i have the soundtrack to this movie :D

  • This is the best version of the song I've ever heard. I rented this with a friend back in the 12th grade and we loved it, especially this scene!

  • Obviously, you didnt see the movie, since Fran Drescher is not just a back-up dancer in the movie. She is one of the leading characters.

  • Of course I watched the movie and know that she's one of his prostitutes. What I was refering to was her role as a back up dancer *in the scene I posted.*

  • oh, sorry then

  • @azzkeeker I was going to say the same thing....uhhhhh, she's in the entire movie!

  • @azzkeeker

That is one of the nerdiest comments I've ever read...I am visualizing the comic book guy from The Simpsons.

  • @catheterhero speaking of nerdiest... nice face, douchebag!
