  • It's a gt 80 enduro

  • I'm actually working on the very same bike. (Red) it's a 1974 Yamaha GT 80 Enduro. You can find parts on Dennis Krik and Bike Bandit.

  • are the carburators on these all the same because i cant id mine and i need carb parts

  • @MrTimmy153 I'll try to find out. I can't sell you any parts though. Give me till Monday.

  • @acadenas06 that would be great thanks

  • @MrTimmy153 ..I need a carb too..I got this bike for my 8th birthday and it means the world to me. Parts are impossible to find. Please let me know if you have any luck...

  • @MrTimmy153 ..I need a carb too..I got this bike for my 8th birthday and it means the world to me. Parts are impossible to find. Please let me know if you have any luck...Mine is not an MX..looks just like the one in the video.

  • @marthahanson1 ya no problem there are parts on bike bandit and ebay im not sure what year there for though

  • its a 1975-1981 dt or gt 80 i think its a gt yamaha its the enduro model, i use to have 1 that look exactly like that one and it was a 1978.

  • No, not 1973. May be a 1975?

  • That is a 1973 Yamaha 80 GT. It is not the MX model. The MX model that year was grey. The yellow one that you have came with lights, but someone has taken them off.

  • Ah, a blast from the past! Thank you EPA, thanks to you, they don't make 'em like they used to!

  • This is an Yamaha 80cc Enduro bike, this bike is made for driving on dirt roads and gravel 'stuff'. The top speed is around 40-45 mph and its having an 'quick' gear. Its very slow but back in 1974 - 1978 this was almost the best gear you could get. Its made in Japan and having cheap metall. (If your clutch is gone DO NOT RIDE IT! )

  • I got a early 73 Yamaha 80 same as above would like a reasonable offer for parts or fixer upper i located in Saskatoon,SK email flyingbuffalo2001@yahoo.com

  • man i wish a had an old bike D: i got a 2009 yamaha ttr 4 stroke so idk

  • 74 GT yamaha all right. that was my second motorcycle every. purchased around 76. I really wanted an XR75 but it was cool to be riding a two stroke.

  • i had 1 when i was a kid had to take it to school to weld the box fram where the lower rear control arm met the fram it crack right across hows yours ?

  • Yup, 74...My brother had one. I had a 76. Great bikes!!!

  • Definately a 74.

    I owned this very bike.

Bought it from my grandfather when I was 10 years old and had a paper route. (when it was still legal to be a kid and do so).

Wish I never got rid of it.

Mine didnt have the Speedo.. That was a DT80 Component.

The 74 GT80MXA had the mount for a speedo and the cable, in fact, you could make it an Enduro version very easily. The GT was typically devoid of all Street ware. Not alot of power, but reliable and awesome on gas. :)

  • That's a 1974 Yamaha GTMX 80, i have the same one except that mine doesn't have the speedometer, if you want anything from the manual send me a message on my profile and i'll email the info to you. hope this helps, Good luck.

  • @cftigerz Howdy. I see you mention that you have a manual for a 1974 GTMX 80, and I'd love to get one. I can't find one on the web. Is there a chance I could get a copy from you, sir ? Thanks for considering. Jerry

  • yamaha 74 gt 80

  • might be a 1977 yamaha gtmx

  • i had the same bike its a gt 75 i know it says 80 but if it was a 80 it wood say 79cc on the motor it says 72 thean its a 75.

  • Gday if you havent got an answer on this it is for sure 100 percent a 1974 gtmx80a that is what it is called I have a 74 gt80a I am fully restoring I know all these 80's the mx 80 was non existint in 74 these were made and sold a bit cheaper because they didnt have all the road gear.

it should not have a speedo though and should have a front raceplate in yellow hope this helps if you still have the bike thanks Michael.

  • This looks to be a 1974 GT80MX or GTMXA to the guy who thinks this is worth $14000 I got one he can have for $400 than he sell it for a 3500% profit

  • This bike is a 1974 Yamaha GT MX 80. The 1973 model was gray. The 1975 was white with yellow in the center. The GT 80 was an on & off road bike. The GT MX 80 was the same bike except it had no lights and it was a different color. This bike is a 1974 Yamaha GT MX 80.

  • i have one just like it except white, and mine is a 72 or 73

  • GT-MX-DT are are the same bike in different configurations from early 70's till early 80's your i believe is a mx year is hard to tell take the vin number to your local dealer.

  • best bike ever i wish i didnt sell mine its the best

  • i did some research and i am betting its a 1973 GT 80 cause of tank style and other features

  • early 70s gt 80. i have a 78, the tank has a different paint job, and its not oil injected.

  • Dylans503, i think you are right, its an early 70's GT80, my friend a a GT50 i learnt to ride off in the 70's. Both 50 and 80 are identical except the cl. bore.

  • ha your username is my real name

  • @deidara633 Oh cool, my user name is my real name too.

  • Lanny is not a very common name

  • That an EZ one 1974 Yamaha MX-80

  • @tejastiger61 Do you know where I can find a transmission for this bike? I've looked in ebay but I am not sure if the parts are compatible because they are not of the same year or model bike.

  • @acadenas06 Dear Sir , I think I can help..... I would bet and I feel pretty damn sure you can find one in "Walneck's Classic Cycle" it seems they have one of everything or can point you to the right person .... You gotta check this rag out its awesome...... PLEASE PLEASE ..... let me know what happens ...... I will call my good friend who owns a Honda/ Yamaha dealership in Louisiana and find out if I might can locate a brand new one..........

  • @acadenas06 this bike could also me a yamaha gt80 relitivly the same thing as an mx80

  • @acadenas06 give me the serial number ill tell you the year :)

  • @acadenas06 what's the song

  • I think and beleave its a DR80 about a 79 model

  • My Guess is 1977 JT 80

  • this bike is a 1973 yamaha gt 80 i have one and my uncle had one when he was young and his dad road it it is a goood bike

  • it might be a 1984 yamaha MX80 but a fully restored one has a collector price of about $14,000 and accourding to this video the bike is semi restored which you can get about $7,000 for it from a collector

  • Man you're outta your fucking mind. Stop pretending to know what you're talking about.

    14 grand.... GTF outta here.

  • are you retarted aperfectly restore one of these will bring 600 $

  • hell no i know my bikes and a fully restored yamaha 80 GT MX bike like this one sold to a collector can make about $7000 and i know for a fact that i can get $14,000 for my 84 yamaha dt 125 enduro bike. i've done my research so I'm not retarded and a 97 80cc or less bike can get you about $600

  • @deidara633 Yes, I need to know what year and model this bike is so I can buy parts like gears.

  • well i think its a 1977 Yamaha GT 80 Enduro minus the lights if it has holes on front or back fenders

  • were is ur shifter??

  • We removed to check out the fly-wheel. We've owned this bike for about 6 years and never have we hear it start till about a month ago. My brother and his friend got it started about a month ago. The problem was we were adding mixed gas in the tank which clogged the valve since it is oil injected. We took it to bike shop and they told us it had an airleak somewhere in the motor which was causing uncontolled RMS. That was complete bullshit. Its a good thing we didn't pay for the repair.

  • looks like the mxa 80 from 74 i had , its missing the front # plate i bought it new for $455.00

  • I need to find my model also. The only numbers I have are on the headstock?? I know its an 80,please see my vid. of it...Thanks to anybody that can help!

  • I used to have a MX100, I think mine was about 1975-76....I don't think there was much different between the motor of it an a YZ.....I would really fly....Same color scheme as yours..you have a MX...Mine did'nt have a speedo..I believe "gr8crashes" is correct..I also believe it was added from a GT....

  • You have a 1974 GT80MX. The speedo was added from a GT80 (street legal version) and it is only missing the stock rectangular number plate. A very nice old Yamaha mini.

  • oh wait sorry its a gt my bad

  • looks liek a yamaha TY 80 trials bike from about 1975-76 believe me it looks exactly like mine ill even put photos up!!

  • Mx80

  • that is actually a YZ 80, first year...i think 1975. they were rushed by the popularity of the Honda XR 75 and the Suzuki TM 75 and turned out to be a toad as it was merely a GT 80 without lights or instruments. 76 brought a redesign for the YZ 80 and Brian Myerscough succesfully campaigned it in California that year, landing a ride with FMF for 1977. now that was unheard of back then, a mini rider with factory sponsorship!

  • Looks exactly like the one i

was given wen i turned 5,

    about 15yrs ago.

Dad said it was a GT80.

try looking on the front under the light there should

be a vin/chassis number, run it through google

  • ITS NOT A 73 OR 76 CAUSE I HAD BOTH YRS

  • well its definately either an mx80 or gt 80. i can tell because the mx and gt 80s had a black engine, everything else was a bare metal. but as far as years go, i would say that its no earlier than a 77, and no later than a 81. i hope i helped.

  • that looks like a 1973 or 74 gt or dt80

  • MX80

  • Nice bike :)

  • I had a very similar bike. It was a Yamaha DT80 Enduro. I still have a pic of me on it in like 1980ish. It looks nearly identical.

  • lol i had this same 1 only it was red

  • me too

  • Twin shock rear....Pre 1975

  • looks like a 1973-74 mx80

  • well its hard to say i kno mines a Yamaha 1980 80cc Mx80 mine looks very similar but its got a different desinged seat and it could have had a spedometer at 1 time heres a video of it

  • Mine is a 1974 Gt 80 and it is that bike for sure.

  • i have the same one it is a 1966 or 64 but my is white

  • 1975 gt 80

  • hi it is a 1979 GTMX 80 i have the exact same one and i told the yamaha shop my serial numbers off of the motor and this is what it is it is classified as a GT and MX 80 im 1000000% positive about it well i hope this helped

  • that was my first bike in 1979

  • mine too man

  • its a yamaha 80 1973

  • its a 74 gt80 b

  • It is a 1974 MX 80....for sure.

  • 76 for sure

  • i think a 1974?76 idk but i want one

  • im pretty sure its a '76 gt80. dont fully count on that, but do some google image stuff and see if they look alike.

  • 76 yes but its an mx 80

  • thats what we call hell on wheels

  • literally

  • dunno if you figured out what it is yet,

but give be the first 3 digits of the serial number (thats whats known as the 'part number')

  • I have a Yamaha GT80 1979 and looks the same except for the cilinder head. You should post the engine ID number to know what year is, as far it must start with 3J8-xxxxx

3J8 means 4 shifts and 72cc, the 3M8 one is 79cc and five shifts (i did the upgrade to the mine). Beautifull bike dude!

  • i have one its getting fixed and it is red

i think that is right. i have 2 that are just like that and thats what mine are.

    good luck bro.

  • i have the same one its a 1973 what kind of oil do u put in urs

  • use 2-stroke oil for the gas,,

and 10W30 or 10W40 for the crankcase

    but don't over fill it

all you need is an inch and a halve of oil in the crankcase

"mine doesn't have a dipstick so i use a wire or long screwdriver to check the oil

  • what we got here is a 1980 yamaha mx 80,this bike will run backwards,my buddy had one a long time ago

  • i jsut sold one jsut like it i cant remember the year tho

  • slightly older than 1986 (my bikes year)

  • i just picked up a GT80 for $150.00 last night

    don't know what year

    it's in the 70'z i'm almost positive it's a 73

    my engine # is 367-512231

  • i have a 1973 yamaha gt mx 80 i was wondering if u know what kind of oil goes in it

  • i think its a early dt 80.

  • mid 70's

  • i have 1 its red & dude go under the seat and look at the back fender it will tell u the year of it

  • i have one in red its a 1988

  • nice bike good condition i have a gt 80 mx to but its white and i love to ride it up and down the street ther fun little bikes but i rather go out on the trail wiht my ttr

  • That is a 1971 or 1972 yamaha GT 80. Pretty cool little bike.

  • I have the exact same bgike, exept i think it is hte year befored model, and mine is red/yellow

  • Pretty sure its a is a 1974 MX80 - that was the color scheme for that year...

  • Don't sell that bike it is nice!!!!! you could get about 1200 for that bike because it is allmost complete my guess is its a early 1970s gt 80

  • Pretty sure its a GT80

  • it ran really good when i got it though pretty fast the guy said it only had 3 gears but it had 4 from the person we got from

  • i had that same dirst bike it was red my dad messed with tunnig screws on carb and lost all its power nice bick though

  • Oh, and the 2-stroke oil reservoir is empty (The little sight-gauge in the left-side panel). Fill it before you run the engine or you will destroy it.

It is a two-stroke engine, but you didn't have to mix the fuel as it would mix it for you, as long as you kept the oil reservoir filled with 2-stroke oil.

  • I had a 1973 Yamaha GT80 (My first bike) and the striping was different for the '73 model. I think yours is a 74 or 75 GT-80.

I loved that bike. I got it for my ninth birthday and it broke my heart when I outgrew it. I followed it with a 1979 Honda XL-100, then XL-125 and CR-125, then ... well, lots more; but the yamaha 80 was my first and still holds a special place in my heart.

  • WOW thats a real niice mint condition bike WOW!!!!

  • ujdzie

  • nice nick foa a old bike!

  • It was my first bike, 1972. Found it under the christmas tree. Raced it at Elsinore TT every Saturday night. Ended up with a J&R power pipe, layed down Koni's, and a 34 Mikuni in it. After that I smoked all the XR 75's. YZ 80 came out in '73.GOOD TIMES!

  • sucks

  • sucks

  • dont the last 2 numbers in the serial number tell the year of the bike

  • its a enduro dt 80 i had the same bike but 1981

  • its a pw 80

  • pw hell no

  • i think it is a 1979 gt 80 trail

  • GT80 or DT80, early or mid 70's Yamaha Mini Enduro, great little crotch rocket!

  • Is it a suzuki?

  • It looks identical to a YZ 80 with the exception of the speedometer. I believe the only difference is the speedo.

  • that is, according to my 1974 buyer's guide, a 1974 yamaha gtmx 80. the gt 80 has lights, turn signals and a horn and it is street legal (or at least it used to be). the gtmx is the same bike stripped for dirt only. they populated lakeside mx for a few years between 74 to 78 along with the occasional honda four stroke.
