  • He never stood a single time to prove the county wrong!

  • j'adore !!!!

  • love this song...bless you Kenny.

  • it does not matter what colour your skin is we can all learn from this song as it is so true to it words.....

  • WHY WOULD U BOTHER PUTTING THE VIDEO UP IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO PUT THE ENTIRE VIDEO!!!

  • @acemcd1 Another one when I put this video on there was no other version on youtube it was recorded on a VHS abt 1992 So get a life and just enjoy what I have put on.

  • @musicman70splus yes indeed, I remember when you first put it on and was glad to see it. This one still has better sound quality than the others.

  • @acemcd1 wtf??????????

  • It takes more energy to walk away from a fight then to get into one. I should know, I've been in this situation MANY times. Mr. Rogers was wise in this tune, and I appreciate him for it.

  • some one always makes it about colour this is a great song...regardless of skin get a job and work for your money, dont rob or hurt ppl and ya wont go to jail ya dumbarse

  • The only people who are dying in prisons in America is Black people, laws that was written against people based on the colour of thir skin. Now we have WW3 based on colour, America is killing the people of colour world wide, using poverty, disease, weapons of war, and politics based on lies and foolishness. And money the Rothschilds invented. Mother earth charges us nothing to grow food but the Rothschilds and the Rockerfellers do. They gave us their paper & their plastic cards and watch us fall

  • @maria610421 What planet do you live on?

  • Why did the original poster cut out the bit where it is strongly implied you're weak if you don't turn the other cheek? I think you've done violence to the song and to Christ's teachings (and the song matters more to me personally because the world has moved on and Jesus of Nazareth wouldn't recognise this world, so he'd probably be less bothered about it himself, compared to Mr Rogers).

  • I don't give a rip what faith you are, or even if you're an atheist, but I'll tell you somthing right now. If someone hurts my family they're getting a whole lot more than a beat down in a bar. Turn the other cheek my ass.

  • I like this because he has a brown mustache with a gray beard

  • wen i was a lil girl i wasnt aloud to watch this movie, cause i was told it was tooooo nasty for lil ones to watch it...but then i grew up n i watched this movie, and to me there was nuting nasty about this movie...

  • Mittendrin angefangen und mittendrin aus, trotzdem Daumen hoch!

  • i been picked on since i was 5 years old for my looks, im 17 now and fed up. i remember a bully just like thewisetyronian was talking about, always bullying me and thinking he was so cool and better than everyone else. he made fun of me in class one day and i got so fed up i threw my chair across the room at him, then knocked him the fuck out....the suspension was toatally worth it.

  • My Daddy told me not to take shit from anyone:

  • Kenny is the boss of bosses.

  • Heared this on YES DEAR!!!!!

  • Nice Video check me out singing at : Ron Howard singing at the Palace Theater part 2 Greensburg Pa.

  • wtf 22 dislikes how can anyone dislike Kenny Rogers

  • This song was an inspiration in my life for three reasons: 1. My name is Tom 2. I was picked on relentlessly throughout junior high school. 3. I grew four inches and gained 30 pounds going into freshman year which helped in kicking the crap out of my enemies. Thanks Kenny!

  • I am a person who has always loved country music, I love this song and I is a wonderful man I've Been my favorite Country Singer Then I remember thanks..

  • I was always the strong one and could hold my own even with boys twice my size when I was just 4 years old! I am female by the way! I never punched until forced to do so and then all hell broke lose! My mom had to defend me more than once when the parents of the boys came to complain to her! Most of the time I had to protect my younger brother who had a big mouth but was a coward when it came to fighting! Somebody had to do the dirty work! LOL!!!

  • @Nevermore1953 LOL,.....this reminds me of my childhood friend Laurie, we were great friends but due to some minor altercation, she got pissed off with me* and WHOA, she dun let me have it,...BIG TIME!!! Total RESPECT for my beautiful Sistahs!!

*Laurie was 6 years old and me an ol' man of 9 years! =P

  • Actually this was released November 12, 1979. I was 19 at the time and loved the song so much that i decided if i ever had a kid i would name her Becky which i did, Plus my second name is Rogers, and i have a lad who we all call 'Son' who is a coward......only kidding on that bit.

  • Hell yeah bro!!! You fucking nailed it!

  • My son was bullied by a gang of kids at school. Eventually they insulted me and my son flattened every single one of them. he was never a coward, he just had self restraint. now he's the young man who people refer to as the kid who beat his bullies. 2 of his bullies are in young offenders institutions, 1 is in jail and the other has been taken in by my family

  • @LisaKee73 lucky fucking you my family alll on shut down s o fuck offf

  • @vivian21able

    Why should I fuck off??

Is it my fault your family are all "on shut down"? You should also be in shut down, for the blatant murder of the English language.

I'll await more poorly spelled, illiterate comments.

  • SE GOSTO DE O OUVIR TENHO O DISCO DE VINIL

  • Kenny Rogers?is he the owner of delicious chicken food chain? :)

  • I agree, he is the best for ever.

  • I am only 31, but i remember listening to all of kenny rogers songs with my father . i know every song by heart i finally got to see him live on long island i got the tickets for free and it was awesome. he looks good and he lost a lot of weight. he got more grey hair but still puts on some show i think everyone should see him at least once. my dad passed away in 1999 but i always listen to kenny and elvis to remember the good times. thank you kenny!!! you are the best...

  • I've listened to Kenny Rogers since i was a lil boy...maybe 6 or 7...and i STILL love listening to him...now at 41...i play some Kenny on my guitar while my lil brother (39) and I sing along to him...we knows good music when we hear it.. :)

  • @meaumoney You sure do, i'm in the early 30s and have been a fan my whole life. His music was the first I ever heard, my parents had all his records.

  • que grande rogers!! tengo 24 y desde que lo empece a escuchar no lo pude dejar ; me ayuda a pensar

  • give em hell tommy

  • my altime fave lyk! reminds me of my mam listening to it when i was younger lol x

  • it never fails 2 make me teary eyed.... there's always a meaningful story to his songs.....

  • 15 Stupids Listens TO NO CRAP MUSICS

  • I absolutely love this song! An all time favorite n I'm frm tx!

  • my old man always sings this on karaoke.

  • an old friend comes to mind..

  • I get tears in my eyes and a smile to split my face open EVERY TIME I hear "But you could have heard a pin drop, when Tommy stopped and locked the door..." When you hear that, you KNOW you are listening to good music!

  • @andrewames247 another person who confuses good lyrics to be good MUSIC... two separate things

  • @ishredu Not at all. Some of us like lyrics and lyrics are PART OF the music. Bob Dylan hardly has "beat" to his music, yet is praised for his lyrics. Even The Beatles had stronger lyrics than melodies in most of their songs. Don't make me laugh by claiming good lyrics are not a strong factor in good music... they are... and this IS good music!

  • After reading the comments posted on this video, I get the impression that his entire fan base is located in Alabama.

  • @ishredu lololol. Ditto. How did you like the, "15 Stupids Listens TO NO CRAP MUSICS?" That's my favorite. :)

  • @bigmanoooo1 Your absolutely right. The way I figure it, if you don’t stand up for your friends when they get picked on, then who else will.

  • wunderbares lied das ist mein lieblings song danke fürs Posten

  • Como puedo bajar esta cansion

  • I am a Teen and i respect his music majorly :) The Man is a Legend!

  • Those were the days of Good Music.

  • when my fiance and I had only been dating a couple weeks, this came on the stereo at a party and he started singing along, singing to me, (I'm a rebecca) and he got a little way in before I pointed out that Becky gets gang raped in this song! He almost fell on the floor from embarassment, but 5 years later we find the story funny, and he sneaks the song onto any mixed cd he makes me!

  • thnx

  • 11 people are Gatlin relatives

  • When I was in high school, I was always the underdog. Until, I finally got fed up with the bullies giving me so much bullsh*t all the time. Evan Joseph Lukens was on the football team, and he had nearly every student and teacher worshipping the carpet and linoleum he walked on. One day, he made the fatal mistake of picking on a good friend of mine. I stood up to him, knocked him off his perch, and showed the whole school that I'm one-hundred times the man he'll ever hope to be.

  • @TheWiseTyronian

I wonder if he too enjoys telling anonymous people on YouTube fictional stories of his heroic exploits.

  • @Pizuzuzimmer I didn't make that story up. It's as true as the sky is blue.

  • @TheWiseTyronian Thats so right done of you.

  • @TheWiseTyronian Wow. You need to let this go. I can't believe you named that kid. haha.

  • @TheWiseTyronian says the geek to his dorky friend....J K.....Im sorry man i didn't mean it

  • @TheWiseTyronian you should respect your betters

  • @hstaubyn I have no respect at all for anyone who tears other people down to build themselves up.

It’s never mattered to me if someone is a jock or not, what’s important to me is how other people treat me and my friends. If that bothers you, that’s your problem not mine.

Just as this song says (in the part that’s missing at the end)

“Sometimes you have to fight when you’re a man.”

  • @TheWiseTyronian And jock's a racist term for a scottish person. Don't be racist.

  • @hstaubyn NOW WAIT JUST A COTTON-PICK’ MINUTE!!!!!!

Isn’t it painfully obvious that I was using the word ‘jocks’ to refer to people who are involved in high school sports?

  • @TheWiseTyronian The other thing that slightly confused me is that you criticise for putting others down to make yourself feel big. Isn't that what you did when you sparked out that bully??

  • @hstaubyn Certainly not. I sparked out that bully because I finally got sick and tired of putting with his nonsense all the time. I was also standing up for a friend of mine that he was picking on. My first comment states this in black-and-white, clear as crystal.

  • @hstaubyn Its not a racist term for them its like calling Australians Aussies or americians yanks

  • @TheWiseTyronian Right you are !

I think no one has enough balls anymore to do such a thing, but there is a time and place to fight, such as your reason.

  • @TerriHogan1 Thank you for your kind reply. I have always believed that there is a time and place for anything and everything on God's Green Earth. Just read it for yourself, as it is written in the Holy Bible in Ecclesiastes Chapter Three, Verses One through Eight.

  • Tommy whooped that ass

  • Aguante Kenny the best !!

  • They dont make songs like this anymore...

  • That song is great my dad forced me to listen when I was going through a rough patch

  • @TomTresh3 thanks, never really payed to much attention

  • Comment removed

  • I love kenny rogers music,always have since i was a kid

  • Lovely music.

  • Great song, and good words to live by. However, when i discovered the ending was missing from the video, i wanted to punch somebody, but i didnt have the guts...

  • The complete video was shown recently on TOTP2.

  • Great story song, loaded with visual images. No wasted words

or cliches. Beautifull written and greatly performed.

    Thanks for sharin'.

  • and gun powder.

  • called him yella because of the chinese; their affects on the railroads and how the west was built; chinese laundry. philosophically and traditionally asians avoid fights; doesn't mean that we can't fight. we created MOST of the arts used in MMA today.

  • I love a good gang rape song. And I love how there were 3 Gatlin brothers. Just like the 3 Gatlin brothers that would tour with Kenny. How awkward was that back stage

  • I'm 12 and hes the only country singer I ever liked

  • @Killeraustin6969 I've been a fan of Kenny's ever since I was born. I remember my parents playing Kenny Rogers records before I could even walk.

  • @Killeraustin6969 im 13 and i agree ;)

  • dedicate to my ex..

  • We teach our children these words, however we knew we did not turn our cheek. This has such meaning oh what memories to all bottled up.

  • it is a shame that the end is missing, but thanks for the great upload :P

  • I never knew why they used the Gatlin's name for this song lol I know the Gatlin Brothers were not happy at the time.

  • MUY BUENA CANCION..

    Y MUY BUEN INTERPRETE...

  • CRECI CON ESTA CANCION,PUES A MI PADRE LE AGRADABA ESCUCHAR A

  • my wife helen jimenez likes this song

  • I NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING THIS MOVIE OR LISTENING TO THIS SONG

  • @gnoccafan The movie is excellent. I love the bar room scene. Take that gatlin!

  • Love that man!! And the song.. I get shivers at the bit where he beats them up in the bar.. Would love to see a video of it

  • Wonderful singer Kenny Rogers is , and this is the first time i ever seen this version of it s well . keep the songs uploading to youtube , They are wonderful ,

  • Por increible que sea, muchos crecimos escuchando estas canciones que oían nuestros padres y ahora despues de casi treinta años al oirlas nos recuerdan momentos increibles de nuestra niñez.

  • Adam Carolla had interviewed Kenny Rogers, who didn't write the song, but it was the songwriter's dig at the Gatlin Brothers (and yep, there's three of them). Funny enough, they toured with Kenny when the song was out.

  • I used to get Kenny Rogers Roasters chicken at the drive thru and crank this song on my home.......LOL......good memories of an innocent age

  • cool! Thanks for the upload! This was the first song I learned to play on guitar back in 1981...

  • Very very good song

  • Always great to hear this tune! We used to blare this in our jute box~

  • the gattling boys were innocent she was a slut lol

  • folks violance sucks. and don't ever start unprovoked violence against a fellow person. but if they assualt your gal, mom, sister. attack your dad or brother or if another country attacks your fellow american its okay to do what needs to be done.
