I have no idea where you get this shit -- Sherman never owned any slave, nor did Grant. But at least Grants wife -- from the South -- supposedly owned them. Not so with Sherman. Lee however, did have slaves with hiim most of the war.
Lee also was torturing slave girls as late as 1859, and kept hunting lists of slave girls in his account books, and paid six times the normal fee to capture and torture one young girl.

@brickct123 Wrong -- another huge myth. The South had all the industry and manufacturing they wanted. In fact, the tarriff (some in the South voted FOR it ) helped manufacturing in the South. Richmond had massive iron and agricultural factories. Made possible, by the way, by the tariffs the South supposedly hated.
Anyway, the South could have had even MORE manufacturing, but it was too easy to get power, prestige, and pussy from owning slaves. So they did that.

They had only two ports that had the capacity for military ship-building, they mostly wanted the tobacco and the cotton, and they DID use slaves to get it. They did not, however, have many widespread factories.

You wouldn't own slaves because you're not lazy? What the fuck does that mean?
Of course I wouldn't like to own slaves. Unlike you, I think slavery is wrong.

When Ive come across something that Federaly down talks the Confederacy Ive noticed when they first said "The Confederacy obviosly lasted through 1860
