@KyleCook94 yeah! he doesn't use a bov at all, it's just the compressor surge from the single turbo that makes that sound. The clip is from the swedish track "Mantorp"
@BoardUnderMyFeet just dont throw around the term 'broke ass shit talkers' and no,you could have a car,but i dont really think you do.but if you did it would most likely be a corolla or somthing of that sort..
Wow. Look at all them e-mechanics in here and their know-it-all comments. That's not even close to a bov. That's a dose pipe. He's not running a bov at all. Also, that's not compressor surge. If you want to hear a real compressor surge type "true compressor surge" on the search box here in youtube. The same thing can be heard on Orido's Ridox Supra.
Must I say again, LOL at all of you mechanics. You guys don't even understand how a turbocharger works let alone surge. Physically impossible for impeded airflow to spin the compressor wheel backwards to "surge". It's spinning at thousands of rpms, a bit of air won't spin the goddamn wheel in the opposite direction. I don't drive yet and I know this, why don't most of you? It's not your car anyways, they can afford to replace their broken shit no problem. Unlikes most broke ass shit talkers here
i dont think thats a blow off valve sound, thats the sound you get when you do not have a blowoff valve and the unused air returns to the turbo making that sound instead of being released by the blowoff valve which this car definitely does not have
Does anyone giving their comments actually own a supra. That is a blow off valve my hks ssqv sounds just like that. It is not compressor surge or the wastegate. External wastegates are loud when you accelerating and not when your taking your foot off.
This isn't a bov doing this, in fact, he does not have a BOV at all. Because he has no BOV, it pushes some air back through the turbo causing it to flutter like this, combine the flutter with a dose pipe you get that sound.
Youtube a video of "car dosing" and you will see what I mean.
id say they almost all due because they have a heavy spring in the bov to hold shut under high boost so at low boost its not enuff pressure to open all the way hence the flutter
@xkoz91x you are a f*cking RTARD :) 1. the turbo does not blow up if you don't have a BOV but it will shorten it's life, go to google and get some info and get a turbo car IRL before you get your fat ass here on youtube, 2 just to prove you wrong and that you are in fact a complete rtard im going to the garage and removing my BOV from my Volvo b230 turbo and you will se :)
@xkoz91x This is chopped air trying to escape through turbine out of the intake. Bov's woosh and chirp. My turbo made same noise before replacing an old bov with bad seals. Stock sr20's, rb's, ca's, etc.....are all turbo and come out of the factory with no bov. They have wastegates on the turbo instead. Get facts straight before looking dumb.
"Stock sr20's, rb's, ca's, etc.....are all turbo and come out of the factory with no bov. They have wastegates on the turbo instead. Get facts straight before looking dumb."
@Koett you are an idiot. 1. if it was turbo surge, the turbo would have blown to shit by now. 2. TURBO CARS ALWAYS HAVE BLOW OFF VALVES NO MATTER WHAT. you try driving a turbo car without a blow off valve and see how far you get.
@littlemimus if you have a wastegate blowing out and ur running highboost and get to max boost the wastegate opens letting out the pressure with a VERY loud noise....
+9788678594 thumbs up for actually doing something with this car and taking it out on a track. Too many videos online of people starting them up, revving them, and gingerly pulling away from a stoplight.

haha type r my arse thats a 2jza80 supra turbo and its a blow off valve hence the name bov. not a compresser you only get compressers on big power drag cars because they have to vent large ammounts of air from huge turbos think of a blow off valve as a mini compressor.they sound different because they are made to sound cool so stop moaning. its a blow off valve ok!
@darleydirtbiker dude do u have any idea about turbo cars??? cause that whole comment is jibber jabber and means fuck all.....
a turbo has a compressor wheel on it, hence all turbos are compressors, in saying that this is compressor surge/stall what ever it wants to be called these days, a type r bov is a big bov, and i have had one on a car b4 and it was brilliant they do not sound like this at all when they are setup correctly, this car is surging, not opening a bov

your wrong, until you drive a turbo car and know something of what your talking about, just be quiet. large turbos surge at low RPMs, beleive me i know.
Lol, no it's not. TRUE Compressor surge only happens under boost. Not off boost, i.e lifiting off the throttle. Don't comment on somthing you know nothing about.
compressor surge happens when the throttle is lifted...
pressurized air is entering the engine, the throttle plate closes, causing that pressurized air to go somewhere- out the blow off valve, if it is properly adjusted/working- but if it cannot exit there, it will back up to the turbo compressor wheel and cause it to rapidly flutter up and back, causing the noise you hear.
You should take your own advice and not comment on something you clearly know nothing about.
HAHAHA i've seen this exact same comment like 18 times trying to explain what they think is compressor surge. Have you ever seen what real compressor surge is? It's very violent and very bad. Theres a video called True compressor surge. You should take a look at that. Once again, don't comment on somthing you don't know about.
he actually explained compressor surge right. You are the one who has this messed up. While under boost, the turbo is forcing air into the Throttle body->intake manifold->motor. When the throttle is lifted, the throttle plate closes. When the throttle plate closes the pressurized air in the pipes have to go somewhere, thats why a BOV or bypass valve is needed on FI applications. If the BOV is not working right the air forces its way back through the turbine and causes the flutter your hear.
No, no and no. That google search is indeed wrong too. That's what most people think is surge, the flutter that you hear. My buddy had a kkk27 make that "flutter" noise that most people claim is surge for about 4 years. No problems at all, as i told the other idiot, there is a video on here with a correct demonstration of turbo surge, type in True Compressor Surge. So go head and try to tell the guy's at Synapse engineering what you think is surge bud?
Ive seen the video, there is more then 1 kind of compressor surge bro, it can happen different ways. The kind you are denying is in fact a form of compressor surge. If when you search it gives the definition which people have been stating in the comments of this video, then dont you think that theres something wrong with your thinking? Obviously everyone else must be wrong, besides you,of course. And in that video if Im not mistaken it mentions that the surge they found is "a form" of Comp surge
Wether it is a form of surge. or just a fluttering sound, it's nowhere near as harmful as what synapse encountered. Your only gonna get TRUE SURGE on high HP applications under boost. I'm just gonna stick with calling the form of surge you claim as "flutter" and they form that synapse encountered as "surge" cause that can truly be catastrophic unlike the little noise that most hear and say it's surge.
Sadly you are mistaken, in that video they DID NOT say that the surge they had was a form of compressor surge. As i said there is only 1 REAL type of surge, and it's in that video. So you can just keep yappin at the mouth son. The proof is in the pudding, well, in the video for this matter.
And your buddy has a kkk27, wheres your personal experience with forced induction? It sounds like you are pretty nieve on the subject. I would suggest greater research on the subject before playing Internet-Gangsta and calling people idiots. And ill take your words on this one, Just because you have a friend with a turbo doesnt mean you know anything about the subject. And in this video, it is the form of comp surge that other people and myself have been saying.
And you seem to be the one who needed educating on a Forced induction application. Do a google search and read what it says about compressor surge. I built and drive my Turbo'd car daily. So i think I would qualify for having more then a "cat named turbo".
@silvadacosta it doesnt matter what type of turbo it is, is the actual BOV and is not the G reddy type r, is the Greddy type RS my buddy has it on his rx7
ok ..its a compressor surge.. the bov probably aint workin so the air is getting let out through the turbines of the turbo... which is bad for your turbo because the surge slows the turbines down and can occasionally stop them==not good.
compressor surge is when then pressure dont have any wher to go so it hits the turbo and out of the filter thats why you hear that lagging sound when he drops the throttle. tell me if iam wrong

@crossbar53, is that a bad thing a car does it?

lukem222 2 years ago

5fingerKnockout 2 years ago
@silvadacosta it doesnt matter what type of turbo it is, is the actual BOV and is not the G reddy type r, is the Greddy type RS my buddy has it on his rx7

Great Car - bad drifting :D
Brownson1985 2 years ago
to me thats sounds like the type R. it flutters when it blows off! thats why it sounds like that! compressor surge never sounds that pretty!
geraldo787b 2 years ago
Serach greddy type r bov It dont sound the same on other cars
LJStorm 2 years ago
Even If It was the greddy type r then why does the same BOV sound completely different on other cars with It?
LJStorm 2 years ago
cause they put it wrong on the title, is the greddy type RS, not the greddy type R
CPEVOX 2 years ago
He might have a dose pipe too lads
LJStorm 2 years ago
ok ..its a compressor surge.. the bov probably aint workin so the air is getting let out through the turbines of the turbo... which is bad for your turbo because the surge slows the turbines down and can occasionally stop them==not good.

can we get something straight here...
Is this the BOV? or surge compressor?
pimptastic666 2 years ago
its the BOV is the type RS that makes that sound, not the R
CPEVOX 2 years ago
Thanks alot fellor much appreciated
Hopefully getetin a supra this summer :D
pimptastic666 2 years ago
Well it sounds exactly the same as mine and I don't even have a bov on it, only a external wastegate, explain that?!
SlurpySupra 2 years ago
That's a BOV Greddy Type R
a Surge Compressor sounds like this:
watch?v=nCj6Spwl1CU&feature=fvw
GL Cya!
LuN4T1Ko 2 years ago
That noise is mostly surge via a external wastegate you can hardly hear the bov!
SlurpySupra 2 years ago
Is that a Greddy Type R BOV or a Compressor Surge???????

LuN4T1Ko 2 years ago
compressor surge is when then pressure dont have any wher to go so it hits the turbo and out of the filter thats why you hear that lagging sound when he drops the throttle. tell me if iam wrong
