PS3 on the other hand, is Sony's bread and butter. It generates a HUGE amount of revenue for them. They saw Geohot hacking the PS3 and custom firmware with full ISO loader support was not that far off in the future.

Sony proceeded to piss in their pants and too aggressive legal action as fast as they could as soon as they saw their revenue generating precious machine being on the brink of having freely downloadable games available on it.

That's the truth of it.

@sulhaq The PS3 didn't become that profitable until a while back, I believe the PS2 is still the dominant console for Sony, plus Sony's a big company with their feet in just about every industry. They lost a great amount of revenue, let's not exaggerate the numbers here. At the end of the day, they are a company, trying to make money, they found a threat to their business, and felt like they should take action on uncharted territory.

Sony suing Geohot has absolutely jack shit to do with online game hacking. Sony does not give two fricking shits about online games or gamers. Sony cares about one thing and one thing alone. Revenue. That's it.

Contrary to your statement, Sony DID approach Dark_Alex, the PSP hacker, and indiscriminately coerced him into stop hacking the PSP. Why did they not pursue it more diligently? Simple, PSP generates SHIT revenue.

@LTbravo...True, i will admit that, but I've had an extremely hard time with hackers, I know I don't play much cod but my friend constantly tells me problems about MW2, it was fun at first but for awhile it got a lil to crazy...me and my friends would loose all our data scoreboard wise...I personally suck at MW2 so I didn't care, but my friend was the top on MW2 no joke he was and one day he went back online and found out he was hacked and moved to the bottem to this day he will never play MW2..
