When we moved here back in the70's there was an old swing bridge that never failed to get stuck open. There used to also be a huge archway made of shells welcoming you to Ft Myers Beach. I miss the archway but LOVE the view coming over that bridge. It never ceases to be a beautiful sight!

I live in Ireland and have spent part of my last 2 summer holidays (vacations) on Ft. Myers beach, its really nice to see it all again, I know every inch of what I saw in the video, the Yucatan restaurant really rocks, so do the ice creams over in Times square near the pier!!!!

I went to Ft. Myers Beach 3 years ago. It was the time of my life. Everything was perfect...but then I to go home. I live in Manhattan, Illinois, (it's about 45-50 minutes from downtown Chicago) and it's snowing right now. :( I'll be glad to trade places with you!! I'm sick of this 23 degree whether and snow; it's too depressing!

Haha, yeah, how do you think I feel? Here in Chicago right now, you can literally spit on the sidewalk and it'll be solid ice before it hits the ground! But then again, the nearly 2 feet of snow would cushion the fall. Whatever, if it gets me out of school, then I'm happy, haha.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. It's cold, wet, messy, and uncomfortable. lol. And be VERY glad you never have to DRIVE in it. It's HORRIBLE!! Especially during rush hour! I kinda like it here in Illinois though. We get all kinds of weather, and our seasons are extreme. We get snow in the winter, tornadoes and thunderstorms in the spring, sunny hot 100+ degree days in the summer, and all the colors and foliage in the fall. Either way, I'd still rather be in Florida tanning right now, hehe.

This would have been taken in Nov. Dec. of 2007 as he says they just tore down the Sandman..HoJos demoed around that time. They did the work after Thanksgiving 2007. Days Inn (gray building he passes after making the comment) is also gone now.

Ft. Myers is the BEST! I love this video it really brings back memories. I was born and raised there. My friends and I spent MANY A NIGHT at the beach, sleeping in our cars, sneaking into hotel pools. I miss Ft Myers sooo much.

Ft. Myers stinks. But that's just my opinion. first, the beaches are filled with alge and stink like crap. Then, there is nothing to do that's "fun". I lived there for 6 months and i hated it. so i went back to Fort Lauderdale Fl by miami. oh yeah. its crazy fun. the atlantic ocean and stuff. there are more things to do. so, leave fort myers and live an exciting life here.
