ny sucks now full of rich bores, crooked vultures and crap theater and immigrants that are 'give us your greedy, suck-up brown nosers" who cater to the crooked vultures artists are gone except for the disney versions of an artist
soul is the loss of individuality and i'd say chains moving in means yes it is losing it's soul. it's also losing it's citizens and replacing them with yuppies
yes it has... I was born in Gowanus area of Brooklyn 1951, my mother was born on State St in 1912 and her mother was born on Sands St 1888...grand ma's family lived on Cumberland St since 1880. yes things do change but for me and others who lived then see a big change.... its soul has been watered down.... the real mom and pop stores, Irish, Italian, or those before 1960s have been replace by crap... bleached by developers and fast food store that have taken away the original flavor and scents
The real irony is that just one month after this was taped at Donnell Library Center, a beloved 50+ year old institution and nexus of community activity, it was announced that Donnell was sold to Orient Express, to become a high-end Midtown hotel. Because of the dearth of those?. In a deft act of cosmic justice against the execs at the NYPL, they pulled out of the deal in 3/09, due to the economic collapse. But not before a perfectly good part of "olde NY" was gutted, taking a piece of NY soul.
I'm a NYC-alumni (left in 1970). There is less and less of a reason to go there. Really...the little young narcissists who live there originally from Roslyn, Shaker Heights, and Wellseley are hardly starving artists.
Say goodbye to New York, because no ones going to do a god damn thing about it you can blog, post videos, and complain all you wan't

Tama is awesome, don't hate. She's a New York author (Slaves of New York, Area Code 212) and was one of Andy Warhol's closest friends.

@aaroncoleman3 You are terribly wrong. People Like Tam are the ones the Should be there. NOT the clear, planned, and well spoken.
