Before that is has been hundreds of years since they wore suits of armor, early fire arms could shoot throught it so they stopped wearing it. Shooting around armor is not a primal instinct, not an easy thing to do. Go to any Marksmen class and they will teach you to aim center mass which is what armor covers. Head shots arn't as easy as your XBOX makes them out to be.
