i based the design on one of those air hogs engines. basicly, every time the piston reaches the top of the cylinder, it pushes open a valve which alows the dead space in the top of the cylinder to fill to the same pressure as the air supply. the expanding air pushes the piston downwards until it moves past a small hole in the side of the cylinder. the air pressure then escapes and the momentom of the flywheel pushes the piston upwards again.
