  • I would love to bet you that you could not get 124mpg, as verified by an independent and qualified source. I could use the free money.

Not saying you aren't getting excellent fuel mileage, but it is not necessary to exaggerate if you have helpful information to offer. My guess is that an independent party would verify your actual mileage, over the course of a tankful, to be closer to half of what you claim.

  • Great video. you do touch on many good points. i am new to this hypermiling trend and i will be purchasing a scanguage in a months time.

  • @youspic // Pick you up ULTRA SCAN GAUGE EM // There 1/3 the cost and twice as many fissures // I got mine 6 months ago and i love it // Just there web site there around 65.00 dollars // They only sale direct // How ever there are some people on EBAY sale'n them // But cost you few dollars more // Hope this helps

Check out you tube vidio's on ULTRA SCAN GAUGE

  • @TIGHTWADHERMAN ok thank you!

  • I've been trying to increase my economy lately by applying these techniques. I have a manual tranny so I can use engine braking and ultimately turn off the injectors so the wheels are running the engine. I always look as far as possible and try to use other cars to break the wind for me. I can't seem to get as a high as I know I can, but I'll keep experimenting with short shifting and engine braking.

  • this guy seems like a party...

  • what is your MPG difference using your a/c?

  • Enjoyed that Jack. I am more into going fast and performance but i do enjoy and appreciate hypermilers. I like to do it from time to tome myself. I do the same thing sometimes with my 2012 5.0 Mustang which actually has a race tune(31.5 mpg best). I also hypermiled from time to time in my 2010 Tundra CrewMax 4x4 with the 5.7 liter (23 mpg best).

  • so tell me, how many people swear and horn at your driving?

    Your going too slow mate.

  • yeah, park in the shade and come back to a car that's full of bird poo! i made that mistake back when i had my second car, a burgundy maxima. it was gorgeous after i washed and waxed it. the window tint job looked flawless too. and i saw a shady parking space that was home to like 30 pigeons with loose bowels. ever since, i park in the sun.

  • My Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V has a mileage reader out from the factory. The engine is a beast but it is making me learn how to drive well with a manual and I'm learning verrry fast.

The funny thing is that I hypermiled without anyone tell me about it. I went from Orleans to Ottawa Airport during rush hour in 24 minutes. 1997 Nissan Quest, I was shifting and hardly ever stopping, even had a crew of manual drivers tailing me. Mr. Blue STi If you read this, *high-five, that was good team work.

  • @pcfxer hey, im from ottawa also!

question: does the COLD weather affect your mpg?

  • @youspic Two factors generally affect cold weather: Fuel additives (that prevent freezing and emissions, but make our engines more thirsty) and behaviour (Idling to warm up is BAD). Driving the engine at low-load until it warms up is much better on your engine than idling.

There are quite a few simple things that you can do to improve your MPG in the COLD (like today). Ask away; I might create a video series on it.

  • @pcfxer well i have been reluctant to put my winter tires on yet because we still dont have any snow on the ground, (i know that snow tires on bare ground lower milage and cause unneeded ware) but besides that, i dont know what else i could be missing? i cleaned out my car of everything i dont need and i have made sure to drive sensibly ever since my last fill up. i want to see just how many kilometers i can squeeze out of my jetta

  • @youspic I will say one thing; winter tires actually aren't just for snow. All-season tire compounds will become stiff and not provide the same amount of traction at temperatures around 0C. The winter tires will not wear excessively at temperatures below 5C.

You probably aren't missing out on too much; are you using fuelly.com to track your mileage? My username is doverosx on there. I highly recommend it.

  • thank you i jest learned how to hypermilige drive i hope you have more tips on hypermilige driveing

  • verry nice keep us informed

  • This is a VERY clear video about hypermiling. So much nonsense out there like "hypermiling is keeping your rpm's below 2k at all times" or "I only coast in neutral" (engine running)

  • haha if this guy got a medal for participating in a 40 yd dash, he'd show that off too!

  • Very informative, thank you

  • nice video

  • I learned to hypermile my datsun 280ZX and my moms 91 suburban the datsun getting 27mpg and my moms suburban with 14mpg. As for my brothers 96 hyandai accent I average 18 mpg which its beacuse its underpowered but on return trips I avg 32 mpg.

  • These are some great tips and while I am able to appreciate the art of saving on fuel and increasing you mpg I could not help but notice that you stated that hyper millers usually don't hold up traffic or drive too slow, however you seemed to be driving fairly slowly, especially once you exited the Highway as seen at 6:00. Its not worth slowing other road users down just for that section of road. If I was driving behind you, like many drivers I would be frustrated and annoyed. But cool tips.

  • i could care less about how slow you go on the road just dont do it in the fast lane which a lot of prius's like to do

  • thats how i drive. i get 23-24 mpg's in my crown vic

  • I used to coast alot in my 1st car and I damaged the engine. The tensioner went on the alternator. I dont coast any more, instad I just avoid unnessessary accelleration and I get pretty good on my deisel van. About 35-40mpg for an 2005 plate, usually loaded up with 200kgs of gear sometimes more.

  • Left lane cruisers are the cause of slow traffic, not hypermillers.

  • is there any vids on manual tranny savings?..

  • I gotta learn to not use my break as much. good tips

  • @youlosez brake* haha

  • Wow... I drive like that in my Lincoln Town Car... Its estimated mileage is 17city, 24 highway, but I usually get about 19.5 miles per gallon in it... And I have an old air filter! Haha!! I could usually average about 20.6 miles per gallon with a new air filter...

Hmm.. Perhaps I should do that..

  • Great tips man, I also drive a stick shift.

  • Thanks for the video! Very smart how he drives.
