  • Anyone have a suggestion for a good smoker fuel? I can't seem to keep mine lit for more than 5 minutes.

  • Great video,

I see this was made in '08, makes me wonder what they're all dong today, if they've sold out to work in a stuffy office for da-man... can I buy this honey?

NEWS FLASH: A third or more of all the honey consumed in the U.S. is likely to have been smuggled in from China and may be tainted with illegal antibiotics and heavy metals.

This is why we need a strong healthy FDA and other regulatory agencies protecting consumers!

  • how often do you check the hive?

  • excellent vid, very informative.

  • i want to keep it in my house ,, but its difficult in there in pakistan

    .. i love beekeeping..

but unavailability of the products here like beehive, ready made wax frames,

so please some direct me to easiest way to make beehive ,and frames

  • Do you ever get ant problems with the sticky boxes or the honey?

  • you need a new camera person

  • bless you..we need more bees!! more little gifts from heaven..little sweeties!!

  • Very helpful to a beginner, Thank you.

  • Good video. If you want to learn more about how to keep bees, I recommend this site:

  • This video was surprisingly helpful

  • why stack them so high and not spread them? isnt it risky in case of an earthquake?

  • Have you tried using bee escapes instead of brushing them off of the comb?

  • i am going to beekeep

  • Was this filmed in Davis California?

  • Wow, you have a big stack of chambers, how many do you have in all?

  • maybe you should have used a second brood box and let the ammount of bees grow, I think there are a lot of honey boxes for only one brood box

  • I harvest midday when most are out in flight..

much easier when most are gone.

  • You may find it easier to insert a "clearer board" under the full supers then come back after 24 hours or so. All the bees will have vacated the supers and you can just lift off the boxes (best done in the evening when the bees have stopped flying for the day).

  • Wow!!! Awesome! I'm surprised they didn't just fly off the frame after you lifted it out. Couldn't they sense the sudden burst of sunlight , plus getting all wiggled around?

Also, do you get stung often? And if so, do you get used to it after a while?

  • It is actually best to open the hive on the hottest time of the day because they try to keep their hive at 94 degrees.

Yes, I do get stung once in a while, very infrequently. I once got 30 stings when I was trying to catch a swarm of bees from a tree (I was 20 feet up in the tree and could not get away from the stinging). Some say if you get 25 stings in a year, you will develop an immunity to it and not feel the stings. I still feel them!

  • Yeah stings also help with bone/joint pains, well they do with me anyway. I always get aches and pains in my knees mostly just from walking around, then I got stung by a bee not long ago and all the pains went away for a day!

  • What about becoming hyper sensitive,/ alergic.

  • Good video!
