  • I love how everyone got here from the book :)

  • I even made her a mix tape and left it at the grave. I hope you do not think that makes me weird.

    Love always,

    Charlie

  • who's charlie?

  • @XOLINDZXO14 He's a character from a book/upcoming movie titled "The Perks of Being a Wallflower", written by Stephen Chbotsky. In the book, he makes a mix tape for a friend as part of a Secret Santa gift (please correct me if I am wrong). This was one of the songs included, among many others. Such an amazing book. You should check it out!

  • Does anyone know if the movie will have all of the songs from the playlist in it?? =] That would be waaaay cool.

  • hmmm what album is this on?

  • Dear charlie,

You have helped me so much to feel infinite. Thank you

    love always

    a friend

  • @SeamusPlease lol i'm litterally making that mixtape right now, that's why i'm on this song :D

  • Thanks, Charlie. For everything.

  • thanks to charlie i have the one winter mix tape

  • Seriously.. who the hell is Charlie?

  • @cameronobscura22 The protagonist in the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower. :) read it it it so amazing.

  • I feel infinite so thank you Charlie.

  • going through and downloading all the songs charlie suggested, truly one of the best books i have ever read.

  • Since we're all talking about Perks of Being a Wallflower, I'll join in...

Charlie is the sweetest, most sensitive, most insightful male protagonist I've read in all my years of reading Young Adult fiction.

And I'd have to say I agree. I do wish and hope that he is real somewhere...

  • i think it's amazing that some of us were brought together because of charlie .. (: yes, i looked all of the songs up.

  • I'd really like to think that Charlie is real.

  • Thumbs up if you search this song because of nick drake and not a book.

  • @makidtrej isn't it nice that we're being brought to good music because of a book though?

  • @JustTheChorus It's a first. We're not mindlessly watching a television screen and hearing these songs off of some soundtrack or commercial. It's quite fascinating and wonderful. :}

  • Say thanks to Nick Drake, not Charlie

  • Thank You Charlie! :)

  • i love this song because francois arnaud likes it :)

  • we ARE intimate. we love you charlie!

  • @4eva98luvu hahahaha, intimate.

  • @4eva98luvu infinite?

  • terrible visuals these

  • Thank You, Charlie :)

  • Does this music make anyone else feel like they just had a good cry? It is so relieving :)

  • Di una bellezza struggente.

  • We're all Charlie's friends.

  • Thank you, Charlie.

  • search nicolas and the iceni summer's end. they write beautiful english folk music which has echoes of drake and sandy denny.

  • Charlie, I love you and your taste in music :)

  • Just use this playlist, it has all the songs in the playlist from Charlies mixtape in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Love that boook!!!! :D

  • I have contacted Nick on the other side bia my spirit guide. He is fine and very happy making music. But he says we must repent of our sins and turn to God or face eternal damnation for he has seen the truth. Nick is in paradise now but will YOU be?

  • Making my way through Charlie's mixed tape. :] I can't wait to add a lot of these songs to my music player, he has great taste in music.

  • You god damn hipsters and your perks of being a wallflower.

  • Charlie, Charlie, Charlie...

he makes it feel okay. any situation, good or bad. he just makes it all okay.♥

  • When you see all these comments about the perks of being a wallflower, dont you kind of think like Charlie? somehwhere in the world, someone is looking up this same song, thinking about the good days like you, doing the exact same thing? i think about it and it gives me the chills.

  • I love the fact that all the songs from the "One Winter" playlist are older songs that most people who read the book haven't heard of before... And now because of Perks these songs are all getting recognition. It really makes Charlie seem that much more genuine. :)

  • so good

  • @elliepell1994 me too :)

he and debussy are the only ones who can calm me down.

  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower <3

  • Lol i guess i'm one of a thousand who searched all the music from Perks of Being a Wallflower. Thumbs up for those who knew about it before they read the book!

  • Thank you so much Charlie. =)

I have now discovered that I really really like Nick Drake...

  • @EqualityThroughMusic You're welcome.

  • There is a later version of this ....a last grasp by his recording friends which appears with other pieces on a CD. with it was mixed strings and some orchestration. Nick had to seperately record his guitar...then his voice...by that time he couldnt put both together at once. I've not heard this early fresh version. They say he used to play in clubs and hated it because of the superficial conversations going on around him and thought..... No one was really listening.

  • good song

  • did this man write anything I don't fall in love with.

  • very beautiful

  • We get it, you read this song in Perks, just shush and listen to the song please

  • @JenniferEchegoyen If you just wanted to listen to the song, why are you reading comments and then commenting yourself? :/

  • I recommend people look up the version with the orchestra. It's the version on the "Made to Love Magic" compilation. Yes, it was added posthumously, but the arranger Robert Kirby, who was a close friend of Nick's, had it written down and it was approved by Nick. It only wasn't recorded because the song was shelved and wasn't going to appear on the first album.

The reason I typed all that because I have the strings stuck in my head when I hear this song. Really great addition.

  • Such a beautiful, poetic song.

  • Lol, I know... they talk as if this Stephen Chbosky fellow gave Nick Drake the idea of this beautiful song... =/

  • Could all the Stephen Chbosky people just go to a Stephen Chbosky page. i wanna read comments about Nick.

    just a thought

  • @frankysandwich And an EXCELLENT thought, indeed!! I guess to read about the brilliance of Nick Drake we should redirect to the Stephen Chbosky page. ;0)

  • I want to meet Stephen Chbosky and just talk :)

  • @MrsKellymcdveraog Write the guy a letter then and have done with it, instead of dropping such inane 'thoughts' on a Nick Drake posting. That's what the fellow was up against his whole earthly life. It's somewhat crass, don't you think? No offence intended, but there's a bit much of such stuff proliferating Drake's postings on here.

  • when i first bought that book i stayed up all night to finish it.. i just couldn't set it down. HEARING charlies mix puts a lot of meaning behind it. remember all, we are infinite

  • perks of being a wallflower sent me here. :D

  • @SharicahBabehMaker lol same. That book is breathtaking..

  • @purpletycoon i know. i love it <3

  • Tnx, Charllie. What a song.

  • Wow. i didn't expect everyone else to search this song because of Chbosky.

  • Thank you, Charlie.

  • What a fucking waste. R I P mate.

  • Loved this and Nick Drake before I read Perks, but it's still a pretty great read. :)

  • Dear friend, thank you..... ever with love Nick!!!!!!!

  • Finished it last night. So amazing. Thanks Chbosky.

  • Those who actually searched the music in The Perks of being a Walflower, We are all a wallflower. :)

  • I enjoyed The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I learned about this song from reading it even though I was already a fan of Nick Drake

  • @Rightnowselene No..we just like amazing music. :)

  • @Rightnowselene That's the nicest thing anyones ever called me.

  • @Rightnowselene My favorite book :) of course I did.

  • @Rightnowselene ii'm looking at every song right now :)

  • If it weren't for Chbosky, my music library would be rather dull.

  • Wallflowers UNITE!!! :D

  • @taymx41 wallflowers eventually grow to cover the whole wall, peeking out every little crevice. some of the most beautiful people i know started as a little flower.. :)

  • on my birthday, my wish was that they make a Perks of Being a Wallflower movie. i know 99% of the time, the book is much better then the movie, but i desperately want to meet the characters of the book, and this might, at least a little bit, satisfy this desire. i do hope my wish comes true.

  • @goodnessgraciouslove According to Wiki, they are making it a movie and filming will start in Dec. 2010, and apparently, Emma Watson and Logan Lerman are in talks to star.

    I'm really excited! :D

Twas an AMAZING book!!! One of the few novels that Ive ever actually enjoyed.

  • wonderful taste in music, mr. chbosky

  • Charlie. :)

  • here's to the kids sent by charlie. i love you.

  • I like that I found Nick Drake before Charlie, but it's great all the same. Here's to anyone who related as much as I did with the line about not sleeping with the girl you could have at the party. Take from it what you will. Be a filter, not a sponge. :]

  • they're filming Perks of Being a Wallflower in December, Stephen Chbosky you have to do a soundtrack with the One Winter tape

  • @SuperAustenfan That is so cool! I'm terribly excited now.

  • Charlie sent me as well :]. Stephen Chbosky sure has a good taste in music. Such a wonderful book. i can totally relate to his personality.

  • I agree with the skeptical feeling felt when i saw the MTV sticker, i thought it was gonna suck. But it is now one of my favorite books. Too bad my friend stole it from the library, i wanted to do that.

  • Charlie sent me.

  • Doesn't quite make me feel infinite, but i'm glad Charlie sent me. I do understand the feeling of Unity in this song, and how this book is bringing us all together in a way probably not even thought of or imagined, I take my hat of to you Mr Charlie

  • "I feel infinite..."

  • Charlie sent me too

  • Wallflowers... :]

  • Dec 7, 1991

  • lol who else would they be refering to???

  • the perks of being a wallflower. <3

  • @watzzuppp yeah, that turned me on to nick drake, too. but it is so frustrating that they accredited this song to the beatles! i knew they were wrong, so i went on a little search and ended up finding one of the greatest songwriters of all time

  • thank you sophie..this song gives me the feeling of going..into the wild..in freedom

  • Excellent, Sophie.

  • Thank you Charlie!

  • as i listen to this song, i'm reading the poem charlie read to patrick on page 70. and it was perfect.

thank you, perks and steven chbosky.

  • Perks of Being a Wallflower. :).

  • 'Think I'm going to quote these words at my Step-Dad's funeral tomorrow. Just got the chilly fall air this week in Canada, after 4 spectacularly sunny weeks. He died Sept 17th. Married to my Mom for 46 years and an Englishman too. "Summer was gone and the heat died down. And Autumn reached for her golden crown. I looked behind as I heard a sigh, but this was the time of no reply"

  • r.i.p to your lost one; i think your eulogy is beautiful.

  • And, should mention.....he was a trad jazz musician, so we had a traditional New Orleans funeral band procession - 10 musicians, leading us through the cemetery. 'Lifted everyone's spirits.

Thanks, Jazzhopin for your kind comments. It has been quite wonderful to discover Nick Drake in my 5th decade.

  • It makes me happy that there are others here for the same purpose as I am. To all the Fans of Stephen Chbosky, I salute thee.

    (I feel a sense of unity =])

  • A friend recommended Perks of Being a Wallflower for me. I was incredibly skeptical when I saw the MTV publishing sticker on it, although I must admit, it was a good read.

  • yeah i totally agree. I loved it and I was surprised with the whole MTV thing.

  • @lavdm123 But it was Early 90s MTV, back when it was music television, not audacious programming.

  • @meloverenton Amen!

  • lovely video - compliments a beautiful song!

  • hahah me too, checkin out his list of songs on the track he made:) great book indeed.haha

  • there's also an orchestrated version of this masterpiece on 'Made to Love Magic' album.... I'll never understand why he wasn't a mega star in his lifetime?

  • Any idea where I could listen to that? I have this version (off of Way to Blue) but I haven't heard the orchestrated version. I was actually just thinking this song would work really well with an orchestra...

  • Aww it' s sublime... I can send you a copy if you want... or down load it from iTunes.... :-)

  • great vid to an amazing song

  • yea i love all the songs and i've already read a few of the books.

  • You should definitely read The Fountainhead. You won't be sorry.

  • Rather shove my head through a garbage disposal than read another Ayn Rand.

  • yeah it really is an awesome book. i looked them all up, too. :]]

  • haha definitely agreed. :)

  • lol i heard it from "perks of being a wallflower" too. awesome book.

  • Funny you should say that, thats exactly why im looking up this song. That book is absolutely fantastic, ive just finished my second time reading it.
