During the Space Race people at Nasa were having trouble coming up with something that could write in 0 gravity. A pen would not work with no gravity. So they spent 3 years and millions of dollars developing this pen that could write in space, under water, in cold or hot weather.

Van Allen's 1958 study was incomplete as even he says in this article. Besides, who's talking about spending 2 days in the thick of the VAB with no shielding whatsoever? Apollo didn't do that. Apollo spent less than 2 hours in the northern fringe.
No, all other manned spacecraft DO NOT stay out of the VAB. The shuttle and the ISS go through the Southern Atlantic Anomaly several times a day for 15 minutes each time. No one fries and "shooting stars" in the retina are not lethal.

The difference between low-earth orbit & going ANYWHERE is simply "escape velocity." If you can get to 25,000 mph (much easier in the vacuum of space), you escape earth orbit. That's why the Saturn V was so important. It had the capacity to lift the weight of the LM/CSM to escape velocity with it's third stage. No one else had this. The USSR N1 failed 4 times. THAT IS THE STORY!
Note that at 7:54, you can see part of the earth without looking through the VAB. THAT'S HOW APOLLO WENT TO THE MOON!

The fact is we went to the moon. We placed a laser reflecting panel to measure the distance of the moon and this can be confirmed by many people worldwide. And also, about the 400 mile idea, I suppose we'll find out more when we're suppose to do more missions to the moon and mars by 2020 as Bush suggested. If they don't send humans in the aircraft... then this film would have some merit.

This film is pretty interesting... the idea that man cannot travel more than 400 miles out I mean.
Instead of name calling, why doesn't anyone find the figures of how much fuel was on the rocket, and how much it supposedly took to get to the moon and back. If the figures are verifiable, then you would have an answer, as this film suggests that the rockets were no were near big enough to get there and back.

Here is your information: I hope you understand orbital mechanics and that you are able to do some math with respect to the translunar trajectory, calculating position versus time, in correct proportion and orientation. Apollo's trajectory through the region of the VABs is mapped to show how the trajectory was designed to bypass the most intense areas of the this potentially dangerous obstacle.
