What is with people going "she sounds black" when she sings? She is singing vibrato which is common in soul and R&B music. Anybody from any background can have a soulful singing voice, not just black people. We have to get rid of those who acting black, acting white, sounding black, sounding white, asian- what have you kind of nonsense man. Back to the vid though, I love Kim Ji Eun. She brings a different talent different from other Korean singers. YG needs to promote her more.
@Jacobe African Americans basically STARTED jazz and r & b, but once you put something out in the world, you can't really own it. If someone has talent they can take it from there and make it their own. Otherwise every time a dancer lifted their leg, people would go, "oh, that's so French" (cause they invented ballet, but no one owns dancing).

why is everyone trippin out on her hand movements? Mariah Carey does it? The reason they do that is cuz it helps them sing. I bet if you ask them to keep their hands still they would still sing good but not as good.
her english is good but i don't like how she keeps waving her hand around liike she's trying to swat a fly. but yeah besides that she's good. you can tell she's trying. thats why there are those wacky hand movements

BoA's pretty special. Her voice may not be able to go higher (I've heard her voice almost go this high, just different tone) but I'm sure BoA's is more versatile.
But I have to admit, KJE's english and octave is VERY similar to the originals of her covers.
I don't think her voice is that special... I'm not referring to range at all, if I was referring to range, almost all korean female singers could outdo boa, but boa sounds like she's straining a hella lot when she sings... Jieun's is much more powerful... on top of that, Jieun knows her strength as an r&b vocalist and sticks to it
Well I can't argue on something that has to do with ear and opinion because I for one don't think she strains her voice. Yes, there are other Korean female artists that can out due her, but I think BoA holds up really well alongside the other famous and talented females.
There are some artists that should stick to their genre, probably beacuse that's the only place where they can succeed or where they will sound best. But I think BoA being versatile is a plus actually because she's succeeded in all of them. But again, that's a matter of opinion on what you like/expect in (your favorite) artists.
I can pick out every single world...so hm, that's weird. but anyways...she has an amazing talent. & i'm so glad she finally has her own album out now...LOVE IT!
