  • Well, the sound he chose is indeed no good idea. It´s hard to control a plucky sound with blowing. Needs a clearly defined start. Blowing is´t clearly defined. There are tons of synth or simulated sounds that would suite much better.

I guess the main problem is brass/wind and even guitarplayers ist that they may have good experience in controlling their intstrument and it´s single way to produce sounds. But never learned to deal or even imagine fundamental different sounds. See the comments.

  • Other "Sax"-controllers even dont need blowing, just tapping the "keys". They are dynamic-responsible, here you can play plucky sounds or even drums without any problems. Those controllers have MORE than one way to play. Needs some imagination.

  • It's not an electric sax, it's a midi wind controller. It has nothing to do with a sax. I can't understand why people use these to try to emulate a saxophone/flute/clarinet/whatever when they can just play the real thing. I wish people would explore the synth sounds on these more. That's when they sound awesome.

  • a me sembra una chitarra e non un sax

  • guessing its a strings patch..

  • If you own one of these, you're a fucking retard. Buy a keyboard if you want to produce notes like this gimmicky piece of shit.

  • @xmtsystems Like that guy up there said.. why does a synth HAVE to be controlled with something based on a piano keyboard? Don't be so close minded. The only thing wrong with this is the sound he's using.. if he'd played the exact same thing with the same sound on a keyboard it'd still sound stupid.

  • @stonerh yes it does. embouchure has nothing to do with this, hes farting out noises not even related to saxophone's pitches. Besides, he might as well do what hes doing without blowing into it. It's a synthesiser after all.

  • @Kyuutoryuu Well no, it's just a synth controller? I don't get how people can't understand this.. it's a piece of plastic with buttons on it that controls a synth, it just happens to be laid out kinda like a sax, which suits this guy because he clearly plays sax. No, you don't use embouchure, in the same way when you play an electric keyboard there isn't a little hammer hitting a string. This isn't a replacement for a sax, it's just something sax players can use to play synth with..

  • @stonerh Oh, and the blowing into it controls the velocity of the note (i.e. - how soft/hard the note is) Like, how hard you hit a keyboard key determines the velocity, how hard you blow into this thing determines it.

  • do you even have to tongue or is it just your fingers?

  • it would be better with a different sound. what's the point of emulating a guitar on a synth? it has tons of potential for electronic music though. you could get some bitchin solos over a house track on one of these with the right sounds. me wants.

  • lol this is nice

  • Thats my uncle....

  • Music has peaked. We are living in the golden age!

  • @snoopbuggybug they say that every 20 years dude...

  • sounds like a damn electric piano from Casio.

  • Very cool!

  • what soundbank are you using?

  • holy cow.....it sounds like an electric guitar

  • The instrument is OK, but unfortunetely this animated digital background isn't cool at all. It does not match this musical presentation, it is distracting, dangerous for your eyes and can make you puke.

  • This thing is awsome it can sound like a sax and much more so don't complain ppl xD my band director toke out some rockers with an ewi it had fx and everything haha

  • Maybe he's playing this because... his main instrument... is... A SAXOPHONE!! Are keyboard players the ONLY musicians allowed to use synthesizers? Are guitar players the only ones allowed to use effects? The future of music will not lie with purely acoustic instruments. Please look up "The Art of Noises" by Luigi Russolo.

  • @AlexisMichellePratt Yeah but what's the point to make it look like if it was some sax playing?

  • @AlexisMichellePratt Yeah but what's the point to make it look like if it was some sax playing? Maybe saves some Keyboard space or cost, I can't see more to it.

  • @AlexisMichellePratt I like your comment, but rather than "art of noise" I might say "art of sound". There is a clear difference between noise and electrical sound.

  • @AlexisMichellePratt but the sound of this has nearly nothing to do with a saxophone

  • Why don't you go get a keyboard this ain't Saxophone no more

  • wheres the ssax sound.if i wanted a guitar sound i would play the guitar.

  • it makes more sound than a keyboard

  • our school has one of these. you can make it sound like anything. we use it in our marching band shows. we call it an eewie for electric winds. theyre hella expensive

  • Not as expesive as a real sax

  • @Aidanplaysax dude this shits still exspensice it costs as much as a hd tv lol

  • @dylbyl1234 yeah true

  • i though t was E.W.I. Electronic Wind Instrument ?

  • what the heck?

  • it sounds good but where is the sound of the sax ?? o.O

  • it has sax fingering

  • If the electric sax sounded like a sax...what would be the point? the sax can do that!

  • its an electric sax, so its like a synthesizer.

  • @nohi93 The purpose of electronic music is to create innovative sounds. Why emulate saxophone electronically when you can buy the real thing?

  • nice dude

  • its a wx5 and u do better playing on just a keybord

  • but if you hook in recording and synth devices you can do some really cool stuff

  • The only point to this is if you are too lazy to learn to play a keyboard, which would be much more effective because then you could add backgrounds with your other hand.

  • I don't see the point in it. In the end it's just a boring keyboard. If I wanted to play this it could be done much better on a keyboard. :/

  • it sort of takes away the novelty of a sax, doesnt it? You can get a similar effect on a keyboard or synth. Its some solid playing though

  • yeah that is exactly why you should play this on the side and not as a sax... take a look at some other video's this is a bad example anyway

  • cool!! like a gitarre :)
