  • I just gotta say there is one thing I dont agree with in this video. The ecoboost does get better gas mileage, BUT if you do tow a lot you will get better mileage with the 5.0 V8. This is simply because the fact that under heavy loads that turbo is spooling up constantly causing you to suck more gas that the V8 would. For daily driving use, the ecoboost will do better, but the V8 will be more fuel efficient for towing. Not to mention ecoboost will need more expensive premium gas.

  • sounds pretty gay for a guy who drives a pick up

  • Going to rust like the past trucks that where up here in the salted winter roads?

  • @pplstan not if you take care of it

  • I bought the 3.7. 3.73 gears, 4x4, tow package, supercab. I work in construction and I've hauled some heavy loads maxing out pay load and I've also towed 5500 lbs (vw jetta on a flat deck trailer). I bought the 3.7 cause I didn't think I'd be towing or hauling but it has the power so I do. It tows/hauls effortless, seems like the tow rating is underrated. It's quite fast too unloaded, very surprising when the RPM's jump to 7000 rpm. Really glad I went with this over the ecoboost.

  • 3.5 TT v6 FTW.

  • 3.7 V6 is fine for me...

  • haha ford cant make strong good motors anymore so they r turning to turbos for power lik other companies? lol

  • @biggniggalol Shit those motors are bad ass did you see the eco boost torture test......nuff said

  • They have been making the same pushrod engines for nearly 40 years. It was just time for something different.

  • I own a 5.0 F-150.... It does 0-60 in 5.8 seconds stock. Your impression is ignorant. I also am getting 18-19 mpg city and 22-23 highway. My 5.0 cost me $750 as an option on my STX... well worth it

  • @tacoma54 yea screw that 3.7. my CrewCab 4x4 EB gets 28.8mpg hwy, 21.9 during a tank where I did mostly city... but semi trucks pass me like I'm standing still hahaha. When I had my 5.4 I went 10 over the speed limit, now I got 20 under. Strangest thing is, it doesn't take me much longer at all to get where I'm going, and I no longer get road rage. Ecoboost was the best thing I've ever done.

  • @malkowskitube Are you resetting the display while driving? If so that isn't accurate. You have to reset the display before you start driving. I have the 3.7 3.73 4x4 and when I reset the display while on the freeway I can get over 30 mpg. If I reset before I leave my driveway I usually get 24 mpg. This is with the cruise set at 50 mph. City if I reset while driving I will get 22 mpg, but if I reset before leaving my house I get 18 mpg.

  • @ThePantyDroper I reset the "B" trip odometer after filling up at the gas station. The "A" Trip odometer I've never reset and shows 19.8mpg but that includes breaking it in and seeing what the engine had during a few 0-60 runs. To get max mpg I have to set the cruise at 50. The only time I see around 18 on a tank is if I haven't made it on the freeway yet. I consistently get high 20's on the commute from US-23 down M-59 (about 50 minutes each way) but I would never say I get 28.8 averaged.

  • @malkowskitube 28.8 average would be awesome. According to car & driver the new super duty diesels can get 35 mpg average on the freeway. I find that hard to beleive under normal driving conditions but if that's true, I kind of wish I bought an F250 now.

  • @ThePantyDroper Yea maybe down a hill 35 mpg lol

  • what is better 6.2 or eco boost

  • lol i love how this dude talks about how the 3.7 is his fav, and constatly goes on about its sound, true its a factor, no doubt. But more importantly he should be talking about its figures that make the real difference, not how it sounds and that its a bargain...

  • I think its a no brainer. Ecoboost...duh winning! LOL

  • $700 Premium pay for that engine,i would pay that amount no problem, considering that i would be getting a fuel efficient engine, plus the torque and horse power, that little power plant is putting out.$700 is what i spend on gas in 2 months or less, figure $4.30 a gallon x 26 =111.80,topping it off every week, for 8 weeks comes up to $894.40.I am just making a guesstimate on the $700 considering that i dont pump 26g every time, but i do pump every week and comes up to $90 to $100 ever time.Sucks!

  • dam awesome all they did was take the best truck and made it better

  • I want to see how the 3.5l works without those turbos(:

  • i've never been a truck guy. I like 4 door midsize cars, w big 6s or small 8s..comfy quiet but with enough power to dust the "average" vehicle you'll encounter (I have a v6 accord and its a good example...v8 lexus IS is nice)

but recently my accord spun out in the last blizzard & for a rental i chose a 2011 5.0L supercrew. I've driven plenty of trucks but i was vry impressed by this vehicle, PLENTY of power (too much if ur an idiot) refined yet in 4low it'l get in or out of anythin, HUGE cab to

  • @racer42O Thanks for the feedback! Valuable to car shoppers. //Adam

  • @EvanHellerstedt your absolutely right, and with the 3.5L you save the $ on gas ;)

  • is it real big on the inside like a fullsize car

  • @manman4092

the supercrew is massive on the inside....cavernously massive....bigger thn a full size car...the others not so much

  • @racer42O the supercab is actually pretty roomy too. Equivalent to most mid size cars. Supercrew is just...massive. You could literally camp back there.

My cowoerker just bought a dodge 3500 megacab. You think the ford is roomy, you have no idea. Mega cab is insane.

  • @ThePantyDroper

ya i've never been a truck guy really, but i was def impressed by the the vehicle overall. i just had it for a rental last winter and only for abt 35 days while my car was being fixed from a spin out. The 5.0 was pretty impressive for a low displacement v8, & the cab rly stuck out. Its almost too big in that there rly isnt a need for legroom measured in feet..lol (thts how it seemed) it reminded me of a small room.

everyone has an opinion...mine on the dodge ram is.....

  • @ThePantyDroper

i am not sure if the new rams have enuff time under thr belt to judge them fairly. I want to give them a fair shake, I mean things change (shit 5 yrs ago id never think abt a hyundai, but thr new line up is an impressive step up)

past rams & dodge vans WERE the cheap alternative. thr build quality was TERRIBLE..the heavy duty ones were def better, the cummins motor is sweet. its overbuilt for its hp rating so its set up for long life & can be modded for VERY high torque & hp.

  • @racer42O If I were to get a deisel it would be a dodge. I use to drive an 07 2500 with the bluetec diesel for work and it was very smooth. Towing and hauling was effortless. Reliability was decent, no problems. Just regular maintenance. MPG was impressive for such a big truck. I'd average 17 mpg mixed.

I agree though, past dodge trucks were shit. No power, unreliable. I had a 2002 and it was a nightmare. I'm now looking to get an F150 3.7 as I don't tow or haul anymore

  • ur so stupid the new 5.0 l v8 has 360 hp and 380lb.-ft of torque

  • i just love how ford continues to compare apples to oranges, i understand that the ecoboost engine is a great engine, but its 365hp and 420tq, its going to beat a standard silverado, with a 5.3, even its newest ratings are 315hp and 335 tq, its a no brainer, compare the numbers, stupid ppl are like OMG my v6 just beat your v8, but really come on, let me put a turbo on the 5.3 and then lets compare, boosted vs boosted, how do you like them apples?

  • @leroyjenkins09 agreed. i want to see the 3.5L with no turbos race a 5.3L Silverado stock. the V8 will SMOKE it. that's why if i were to buy an F150, i would go for a 5.0.

  • @leroyjenkins09 howbout its a 3.5 vs a 5.3 and ford is proving that bigger is not necessarily better

  • @leroyjenkins09 Your an idiot! Compare the 5.0 to ur shitty 5.3. I mean u have more displacement right? Both v8's like u want, and hell both are N/A. The 5.3 will get shit on all over by the 5.0.

  • @EmotionalTree I am consecutive ford owner and love ford but also love chevy. Sounds like you have no clue as to the detail of these engines. 5.0 vs 5.3 are two TOTALLY different engines. The 5.3 has been the best truck engine for 12yrs now in mpg and reliability and its soon to be replaced with the LS5.5L. 5.0 is ohc32valve massive head engine, bigger both in weight and dimension than the pushrod 16v 5.3 with 100k warranty. I want one of these new ford engines but don't diss the 5.3 dude.

  • @BEBNC1 He was comparing comparing displacement between the motors. So did I there. And yes the 5.3 can be dissed because in comparison to the 5.0 it is the worse engine. I know the 5.3 is a push rod motor and was a great motor 6 years ago but times have changed, and I know the 5.0 is a dohc engine. I know my engines, the other guy that i replied to was wanting the 3.5L v6 from ford to be n/a and to have a race with the 5.3 from chev. I know what I am talking about.

  • @BEBNC1 the 5.3 hasnt been the best engine in any category..it gets worse MPG than the 5.4 and the 5.4 has been on the 10 best engines of all times list since it came out..a list the 5.3 doesnt even make it on...

  • Good video man. Very well explained! ;-)

  • @BklynJayL Thanks so much for the kind encouragement! Keep watching. //Adam

  • I can't wait to try out the EcoBoost on a new F150!!

  • Less talky more drivey

  • @BRUCERW Thanks for watching. The 'drivey' video comes later! :) //Adam

  • Friggin amazing. These V-6s are making a lot more power than the big V-8s of just a few years ago.

  • @spunkyjivl that ecoboost thing makes the power of the current v8s only having a huge torque band like a diesel

  • well the eco boost has been known to blow up here in canada

  • @akers222 no it hasn't lol

  • @akers222 Stop lying!

  • This is a great truck. The motor(twin turbo eco boost) is brilliant. Ford is the best. ME WANTEE!

  • I am looking forward to the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost with 365HP and 420 Lb.- ft of Torque.

  • Ford recommends unleaded regular on all the 4 new F-150 engines.

  • I'm a big fan of Ford trucks, but the Ecoboost seems like an un-tested experiment that has more expensive parts that could break early on.

I'd rather see a small turbo-diesel or gas-electric hybrid powerplant in lieu of turbo power.

One question: Does the Ecoboost require the use of premium grade fuel?

  • @nightfrog65 Regular unleaded. Good question.

  • @highmileage

That's good news. Requiring mid-grade or premium fuel might discourage buyers from buying the EcoBoost, especially when gas prices rise like they did in 2007-2008.

  • @nightfrog65 Well the one thing that I don't like about hybrid is that the engine keeps turning on and off witch would save gas but there would be more strain on the engines so in the long run it might cost more to maintain!! and yes ford is doing heavy testing on the Ecoboost. Cheek out fords website.

  • @nightfrog65 the ecoboost have been in the tauras, flex, mkx for the past year and has no problems what so ever.

  • i prefer 370z engine 3.7 L = 325hp

  • Cool vid but I wish u wouldve talked more about the Harley davidson
