  • This is amazing! I have to play the violin part on my clarinet though, which means a whole lot of triplets... Super hard, but wicked fun!

  • omg! the high school orchestra is playing this and im in it, and i have only been playing for about 3 years and just to give you a sence on how fast this goes, (if you have a metronome at least) its at 120 tempo, but its at cut timem so that means it is at 240 tempo and it is mostly 8th notes :(

  • @TheBiggestDorkEver

It is not the end of the world if you have decided to play a little faster or slower than what's marked on the page. It is better to be able to play it while enjoy it. Sometimes many markings including the tempo came from some editors of the publisher not the composer. If everyone can do 160 and plays perfectly after only a few years of study, I don't think there will be any professional orchestras left.

  • @TheBiggestDorkEver same, our school did it as well

  • This is so fun...why aren't these kids smiling???

  • @stampbdp cuz it's so freakin' fast XD Our orchestra played this, too - a bit slower. And we've enjoyed it a lot.

  • Playing this in the White Mountain Symphony Orchestra in our concert on the 12th. Definitely a fun song to play! :) And the tempo, is quite challenging. Definitely took some good ole practice on the viola to get my part down ;)

  • great!!

  • That's very good!!! ^^ But I always thought this was a fiddle piece.. Because I was thinking of playing it for and old time fiddle competition.. Yet it isn't really "old time"... But great job!!!

  • this sounds like something off of tom and jerry

  • Quite possible. A lot of cartoon shows used Orchestral recording plus some sound effects.

  • Excellent job. A+

  • Very good/ I play it too))))))))

  • I went to the doctor last week and he said I have Carolinian Virtuosi and I replied "Oh Fiddle Faddle". A great performance by one of my favorite American composers.

  • we play it in our orchestra too and its soo cool !

we love it because it's a very happy music :D

  • we also played it in our orchestra in Scotland this year and also so fast ...

    we all hated it ^^

  • I think a lot of orchestras went over board to play fast and missed a lot of fun things along the way.

  • Were you part of the Hochsauerlandkreis-West Lothian orchestra?? :)

    If you were, hello :D

  • is the piece supposed to be this fast? because the melody sounds a bit blurred. The brass and woodwind is excellent though.

  • The tempo of this piece is about right, could be even faster. The melody is very clear. Its style of Banjo, the melody is with in all the 16th notes.

  • @sirdagamba The tempo marking is Allegro Vivace or about 138 bpm... they would be allegro or about 112 bpm. So yeah the song a tempo is a bit faster. I would expect the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra to play at tempo but slow it down for the kids, not taking anything away from them. I'll give it to em... they do sound pretty good. The acoustice of the room take away from the recording though.

  • @egrette The tempo of this song is quite literally, "As fast as you can play it."

  • As a teacher, I cannot just give out everything to you. OK, Time signature; watch the conductor from the start and you should be able to find out what the time signature is. Listen to the last note of this video and check it with your piano, or tuner ,... dynamics used? by listening to it, should not be hard to find out. And yes, its a Major key.

  • Yay!

  • I've always wanted to play this but haven't been able. I bet the clarinet part is fun, especially the runs (since I like runs).

  • the flute part for this is amazing!!! listen for it. We're playing it this year and it's basically a run of scales

  • Good music!

  • This violin section is a blast, but oh wow! I think I was 9 or 10 the first time i preformed it... those kids are incredible!

  • im learning this song for my school orchestra.

im lucky the flute part is relativley easy compared to violin sections

  • The viola part for this is child's play compared to the piece as a whole. Awesome job!

  • Woah. MAJOR props to you guys. That was great!

  • I'd LOVE to play this, but my orchestra teacher insists on not allowing us to play similar music twice (We already played a Leroy Anderson medley for our Holiday 2007 concert).

  • umm... yeah. She said "Ask me in May. I already have this year's music planned out." Hopefully there's a chance of playing this in the 2009-2010 school year!

  • I'm sorry. Our Honors band played 2 Leroy Anderson pieces in one year.

  • This piece is pretty cool but fast. Our Honors Band played this piece well (and faster).

  • omg! u guys are sooo good

i wish i could play like that :[

  • I played first violin on this piece in February. It was pretty hard to play with the fast tempo.

  • I'm playing this right now. I pity the violins, though the cello part isn't much easier.

  • I have to disagree with that... I played this for a concert today and the cello part is pretty easy. xDD

  • the viola part is easy -_- it's much cooler than the sleigh ride viola part though. I'd much rather play violin whenever I play full orchestra music by leroy anderson.

  • No sorry the violin part is deffinitely way harder than the cello part. I have played viola for this piece so much that I usually play along with the cello part by ear because I am sick of the viola part lol. I took almost a year off playing while I was at school and the day after I got back home from school I played this song in a concert.

  • Compared to the violins, we cellists have it pretty good when it comes to playing this...

  • nice! i remember i played this in my 4-hand class last year! brings up all the memories...

  • Learning to play violin ll on this piece. Find it very helpful to see/hear someone play to learn quicker. Do you know were I can view/hear someone playing the violin ll part for Fiddle-Faddle?

  • im plaing this for NYSMA

  • i played this 8th grade with my orch. holy crap it was so hard but fun at the same time!

  • When my band plays it, it sounds a little.. oompa-loompa-y.

  • lol :)

  • I love this song.

  • Amazing talent, Leroy Anderson, nasty difficult.

  • Seriously good. Thnaks for the hard work, I think it's a marvellous performance.

  • Thank you!

  • I am playing this in Orchestra..IT IS SO HARD!!!

  • oh i played this in orch, its the reason i dropped, i was just going insane! great piece though

  • im jealous...lol...but wow...

    that's incredible!

  • They make me want to practice again! I have played that song one time sitting in the orchestra. I had my one finger on top of the other. Its not as easy as they may sound.

  • awesome!

  • Doesn't get much better than this...Kids totally enjoying their EXTRAORDINARY talents, after many hours of practice! More, Please!!!

  • Way to go to the kids. My daughter is taking violin, and she loves it. What good are high math scores when you cannot appreciate the world around you.

  • Bravo! on that. Its wonderful to be able have high math scores. But without the enjoyment and appreciation of symphonic and classical music is like the soul with a huge empty space. To learn how to practice the musical instruments is to learn how to solve problems and bridge connections with self discipline. The more they know how to practice, the even higher math scores they will achieve.

  • nice job i remember when i played this song its not exactly easy xD

  • Thank you. You are right about that. For the strings, it's just as hard as some of those passages from many major symphonies.

  • What amazing kids! BRAVO!!!

With that kind of focus and dedication, they could learn just about anything! They really need to keep music in the schools!

  • BRAVO! Look at who is being conducted - the symphony not the kids - they are in front of conductor.

You are so right muzebl - we need music in school and the arts are the first thing to hit the budget cuts!

  • Thank you for the comment! when students who practice musical instruments at home, also do well in school because they are learning the scale of problem solving and self discipling even when they are not in the classrooms. I wish there are more school board can connect those dots
