@gulbirk. The point I was making is Russia is still a corrupt dictatorship. All Russia has done is dumped the commies for United Russia and instead of Gorby as leader they have Putin. Duh!
At the moment I'm reading Alexander Solzhenitsyn's 'The Gulag Archipelago and in that respect this makes it chilling to to watch. Regan was right was in one thing
that the Soviet Union was the evil empire. I defy anybody reading it to countra that conclusion.
@spanish111japan Millions of people died in them you tool that's why I read about it. Perhaps we should forget about it or the holocaust cos that happened in the past you postmodernist twat.
Its a free country or am I not aloud to read that, perhaps instead I should read Nuts magazine. I have also read about the US's crimes thank you very much and have studied them at university as part of my degree. Don't tell me what to read.
@Professor6871 here let me counter it for you. The gulag was not a soviet invention. It was an institution that survived that soviet revolution. It was created to settle Siberia as exploit Siberia's natural resources. This, of course, required millions of people. Since no one actually wants to go to Siberia, all of these people where forced to do it.
This has been going on for hundreds of years. It is not really anything new.
@GeneralChoomin Yes and concentration camps were set up firstly by the British during the Boer War in the 1900s. So concentration camps weren't exactly new when the Nasis set them up. I don't understand the point your making? I know the Gulags were created before the Communists came to power in 1917. The Tsarists used to send their dissidents to these Siberian camps.
@Frankiezollo58 No, in FIFA votes are bought (allegedly) whereas the results of Soviet elections were decided upon in advance without bribery (possibly)
@Professor6871 I was just joking around. ;) … Well, actually, that’s not that much of an exaggeration: the EU is already pretty much totalitarian and dictatorial.
Hopefully, the political evolution in western Europe (nationalistic shift) and the global debt crisis will put an end to this.
@SniperMaske People often say that the EU is totalitarian but often cannot say in what way. It is the nationalists we need to be frightened of - not the EU.
@SniperMaske The EU isn't totalitarian or dictatorial. And there are never elections in which one party wins 100% of the seats. In the last EU Parliament election the 'European People's Party' group (conservative) won 264 seats, and the 'Alliance of Socialists and Democrats' group won 185 seats. Other EU appointments are made by elected national governments. Its a union of democratic countries.
Its not an exaggeration at all, it's completely inaccurate.

Gorbachev was not a communist, he just was a sellout that switch sides every time wind starts blowing in different direction.

Change Communist to United Russia and Putin for Gorby and things are much the same in Mother Russia!

@densaner77 ""Change Communist to United Russia""
That would be rather innacurate. One of the biggest opposition partiet to United Russia is the communist party.
gulbirk 2 months ago
@gulbirk. Yeah and how much power does the Russian Communist Party have?
densaner77 2 months ago
@densaner77 None, but why is that even relevant?
