  • Where did you get the Chocolate and Cream model from? What code is it and how much does it cost?

    Great video too

  • @tpxpress I bought it on eBay secondhand for £45. The code number is R2644 and I believe it is now discontinued

  • @metadyneman Oh, OK. Thanks for that

  • What are the dimensions of your layout? I am building in the front of my house, we'll see if the track stays in place, kids might try to steal it, must use glue! My area is 19' x 9' 9". I am already planning a 40 foot extension to the back yard. tee hee hee

  • As I mentioned before, you inspired my garden layout. I tried to put a link to some pictures, but you tube doesn't allow links in comments. If you go to thetraingeekboy on that flickr place you can see pictures of my bench work so far. Thanks so much for mental nudge in the right direction.

  • @traingeekboy I'm glad it has inspired you to get into the "great outdoors". I think if I had an indoor layout again I'd have to take over a room in the house to do it. Anything smaller than my garden, I would never be able to cope with the lack of space!

  • The blue and grey 4-cep teamed up with the 2-epb reminds me of the ramsgate-charing cross #62 via chatham & dartford 17. 18 service in the 70's that i used to catch from whitstable to dartford on a friday . it some times also had a battery unit on it in the summer. as ever a great vid'

  • @heezabirddog I'm glad it brings back memories. It's similar but not the same as the time when I first moved from London to the South Coast. On the West Coastway line out of Brighton at peak times they would stick a 2-HAP on the front of a 4-CIG or 4-VEP which was similar to what you have described. The Central Division of SR as it was in those days had an allocation of BEPs and CEPs and I always used to head for the corridor 2nd for a nice comfy compartment.

  • lovely... one day I would really like to have a garden railway - especially in the summer!

  • @citytransportinfo It's not that bad in winter either. If you get a string of clear frosty days and a nice warm shed to sit in, It's just as much fun as it is in the summer! Incidentally another EMU has arrived on the line since this was filmed. New film colming soon.

  • Jules-the music's nice & relaxing TBH.

Nice touch with the reversed pannier-which one was it?

  • @Phippstickman The Bachmann 57xx DCC fitted

  • Great layout. You have inspired me to make my own garden layout. Some questions about your experience with yours. Do you just leave the wood raw? how does this affect the layout's ability to withstand over time. Do you have a lift out or drawbridge. Are there pictures of the underside of the layout. Do you have bus wires for your DCC? Love the addition.

Oh yeah, is the train sound dubbed in or merely wheel noise recorded and played back louder?

  • @traingeekboy The wood was treated with creosote when the layout was first built but it has been left to weather naturally since. The main line is now 8 years old and has stood up well to the salt sea air where i live. There isn't a drawbridge but there is a removeable section where the line crosses the entrance to the garden. The train sounds are not recorded or overdubbed they are in real time and that is the noise they make! There are no underside pics or bus wires on the line

  • why the shopping market music why.. . . !

  • @ms29b Why bother asking? if you don't like it you can always mute the sound! If I didn't like it I wouldn't add the sound... it's a personal choice thing. It's My video.. I can choose what I put on it!

  • I gotta get me one of these, me thinks :-D

  • as always superb mate

  • Great video, great railway

  • looking great jules great picture quality too im gonna invest in a new hd camera at the weekend i think any recommendations? iv got my eye on the tx10 sony so far keep up the relaxing cool vids cheers

  • @steveallen808909 The camera used in this vid is a Flip Ultra HD. The picture quality is very good as you say and it records stereo sound but the camera itself is quite limited in what it can do. I have also got a Vivitar 925HD which again records in HD but the sound is only recorded in mono. I'm no camera expert at all so I'm afaraid i can't offer any advice on what's good and what isn't. The two i have got do the job I want them to do that's as far as my expertise goes on cameres lol

  • @metadyneman Hey Jules- been a fan of your your vids for a while. Planning my own layout - what ply are you using, and how have you protected it - cheers

  • Posting some recent southrn vids of emus in reply - wondering whether any of the newer units will be made in oo anytime... 377, 442 etc! PS Lovely layout and filming!

  • Its good to see the big manufactures are staring to bring out different sort of engines.

  • @penninefilms Certainly is... the Hornby 4-VEP will be next to arrive on my line

  • @metadyneman But the only thing that pouts me off buying them is the price.

  • @metadyneman when is the hornby 4-VEP coming out.

  • @graystrainspotter The BR blue version should be available by the end of July
