thank you for the video Shazoolo. very informative. if your assessment is accurate, then i would have to take issue with some of the ideas in the book. for instance: if something bad happens to us, it is because of our negative thoughts. so all the kids who have been sexually molested willed that on themselves? people now being sold into slavery (yes in the 21st century) want that for themselves? that is bullcrap.

I think this law of attraction is legit though we should keep in mind that it isn't some holistic, secular idea but an actual spiritual principle as the Bible indicates.

1) "Only God has ultimate control..." 01:49 - that's a subjective statement based on Christian belief

I agree w/all Shazoolo said. There are other New Agers that have a really strange teaching but ppl believe it. They say before we were born we wrote out our own life. That`s sheer stupidity to me. Honestely, I picked up this book because I was curious if it had any relation to quantum physics which would confirm Mark 11:24 in the essence of its nature. This reminds me of a book called 'Positively Happy (cosmic ways to change your life)' by Noel Edmonds, he talks about how our attitude towards life determines whether or not we are happy and successful. He also tells the reader that they deserve to have whatever they want and he doesn't believe in luck and says that anyone who calls themselves 'unlucky' is a victim of their own negative thoughts...

I agree that being positive is important but this is just going too far.

@FreyaGustava Hi Freya, yes agreed. A couple of pagans have contacted me privately about this book &said similar things. Seems like the book is a concern to many people in widely different communities.The book actually reminds me of a book I had in the late 1980's written by a guy who was promoting positive thinking.Quite similar in parts. Most people can subscribe to positive thinking as far as it goes but these kind of books always push the bounderies and wander into areas that go way too far.

@FreyaGustava I know someone in the Charismatic movement & they believe basically the same thing but w/a twist. For ex., if someone says you better be careful driving in the snow or you could wreck, they`ll say "I break that word curse" b/c they believe others words can determine our destiny but if someone says "God told me you are going to get rich", they`ll say w/sincerity "I receive those words". Again it`s b/c others words can create what happens to us. This stuff is in the church too.

Amazing how pretty error can be made to look. Mix a small amount of truth with a BIG lie. It is true we should think on the positive, but not true we are equal to the God of the universe. We are the creatures only one creator as Isaiah says.

I believe that as humans, we have free will, because God gave us free will, and thus have control over our thoughts, emotions and behaviour and attitudes. However, we DO NOT have control over external factors, our environment or other people. For example, you can't help it if somebody hates you, you cannot control how they feel towards you, and this may upset you. But you CAN control how you feel towards them hating you.

I have to say I don't agree with the book in all things. However I am not really buying your take on it either. Both you and the book are at different ends of the spectrum. I have to say I am somewhere in the middle. You don't give humans the credit they deserve. You see them as garbage not worthy of God spitting on them from the time they are born and not having the ability to become any better. To me, that is the biggest form of blasphemy.

@CMKify Hi, thanks for listening. Much appreciated. Good point. The difference is that Christians have the Holy Spirit in then through being adopted into God's family when they put faith in Christ. Different from Christ who is eternally God (John 1:1) who literally took on flesh in the incarnation, and became man (John 1:14). In this Deity and humanity were fused together. Christians don't pre-exist as God/gods however, and God rather abides or dwells in us (Eph. 5:17; 1 John 4:12, etc.).

I've never read the book, but based upon your assessment I can easily arrive at this conclusion (I am no one of authority just a forgiven child of the Lord):The word of God gives us all we need to know, but people seek a more palatable form because they seek the ways of the world.
