@areasevenpro Shadow Chronicles had better writing, artwork and animation than this. A Lot better. At least it was on par with your average TV anime. Astro Plan's animation is on par with "Dora the Explorer" and the script sounds like it was written for 5 year olds..
The promo art is misleading. Watch the actual episodes and tell me it is not trash.

@areasevenpro Also depends on which anime series and movie you are comparing it to. YEs it sux when you comapre it to Ghost in the Shell, or Sky Crawlers. But when compared to Naruto the movie, the various pokemon movies, even higher end stuff like Afro Samurai Resurrection, Shadow Chronicles is GOLD. On Average, Shadow Chronicles is not great, nor does it sux. Its AVERAGE.
Astro plan on the other hand straight out DOES sux compared to other TV anime. Pokemon had better animation!.
@Xamtaro Apples to oranges, dude.You don't compare Shadow Chronicles to Naruto or Pokemon movies because they are of completely different genres. At the same time, you don't compare Astro Plan to Pokemon or Dora the Explorer. The closest titles to compare Astro Plan with are Macross Frontier, Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny/00 and Code Geass, but those other titles are for teenagers. Otherwise, the next thing to compare would be Transformers Animated, as both titles are for kids.

@areasevenpro For starters, i've watched the episodes so far and the series is plagued with cheesy writing(yes i understand chinese), horrible animation that looks like cheap flash animation, stiff CGI that look worse than stop-motion, unlikable characters etc.
Internet backlash aside, the overall dismal quality of this show will alienate existing fans and put off new ones.
@Xamtaro its more original than Robotech.they didn't hijack an anime and call it their own.they borrowed elements and changed stuff up.This should be Robotech.I hate saying it but given enough time and money This could evolve.robotech is on life support.They need Astro Plan

THe first robotech movie has officially been rejected as being part of Robotech and Shadow Chronicles HAS to use the same mecha, if not it wont be considered a sequel.

@179107199999 Do you speak for the fans? As far as i know, the Alpha fighters was Robotech to the fans as much as the original VFs. And since the VFs were decommissioned by season 2, they can't be brought back. Why bring back an obsolete design?
This is called "being true to the original"(which means New Generation since shadow chronicles is a direct sequel to Robotech: new generation)

@179107199999 It would hurt the franchise and harmony gold thats what will happen. once HG takes AStro plan in, they will be open to all sorts of lawsuits from the original creators of Macross and Gundam which AStro plan ripped from. China has this sort of "immunity" from the japanese companies(they've been into piracy for years) but once a USa company steps in, the lawsuits will fly.
@Xamtaro the mecha don't exactly follow Gundam & Macross. One Aircraft has one Fin stabilizer while the one that has 2 is nothing but a F15.They also lack Gundam Heads and the beam weapons don't exactly fit the profile of a beam saber.They didn't pull a Harmony Gold.Its their own series.Legally they win because they didn't outright steal designs like korea did in Space Gundam Valkyrie

@179107199999 ya, its their own series which has all the makings of a horrible series. Instead of just looking at the pretty promotional artwork, go watch a couple of the episodes. The animation is nothing like the artwork and the writing is a total ham-n-cheese affair for kids(even among other chinese anime). I'd rather they pull ar Harmony gold and deliver a good show than make their own which is total crap.
@Xamtaro the quality is terrible because they don't have good funding like other countries.They do need a hand.This "anime" is above some of the other chinese "anime" shows.I still stand by my statement if they cann get good funding you'll get something better.They had no choice but to do flash animation and pandering to kids is easier to make money.just like Robotech

@179107199999 Writing and acting has to do with talent, not budget. AT most, Harmony Gold can consider using the mecha designs. BUT NOT TURN THE SHOW ITSELF INTO A ROBOTECH INSTALLMENT. And BTW, Robotech never stooped Flash animation and its recent shadow chronicles shows signs moving away from the kid audience and being more for teens and older folk.
THAT is the direction Robotech should go. It should grow up and not go back to kids.
@Xamtaro Budget is what allowed Harmony Gold to make Shadow Chornicles.They were able to get a Korean studio to do the animation for them and could get decent voice actors.Also they made profit from selling Valkyrie and Alpha fighter models.The producers of Astro Plan could only do what they could with what they had.and as I said Astro Plan needed a starting point.
@Xamtaro They have talent but the animation industry in China isn't very big.They have potential. look at it like this.Harmony Gold can do the scripts while the Mecha designs and base character designs can come from the Astro Plan company.They'd be good for one another.Remember in UC Gundam the series started kinda young then you see Amuro and Char as adults.Astro Plan still has enough time to go that route
@179107199999 Not very big? Just cos you haven't watched many chinese anime doesn't mean they dont have them. They have tons, just that they are limited to local and regional release in other chinese speaking countries only. And a few other chinese anime are extremely good compared to the trash that is Astro Plan. Search up "stormriders: Clash of evil" for a good example.
@Xamtaro also yes I see the difference in quality.However if the Stormriders producers were in the game longer than the AstroPlan producers it would show that exprience and a good budget do go a long way.
@179107199999 its by the same production company under "Shanghai media group". I dont diss china made animation in general cos they have put out some good work(few as they may be). Astro Plan just isn't one of their good works. It isnt budget that affects the artwork or the Flash animation. That would be technical know-how. If they could use tradition cel animation for Stormriders, i dont see why they had to stoop to Flash for this.

HG is gonna have to explain why their new fighter designs are based on Chinese fighters, and why the ArchAngel is in this show along with the cast of Gundam 00.
I can see those alien Iccus(?) could be shoehorned as an off shoot of the invid from the Regent side. Maybe the boss of those Iccus could either be Tesla, Garak or Pye who survived the final battle at Optera. And then they use a Genesis Pit to re-evolve in order to fight the Haydonites and the REF.
