she wrote in her biography "me" that she couldn´t do one scene, because the bike, which had to be from 1890, was too heavy......so they had a 24 year old girl do it and she was really pissed off that she couldn´t do it on her own since she was quite an athlete all her life....but i think the scene with her double was cut out from the movie, but i´m not quite sure about that - doesn´t matter anyway - she was simply the best, just love her :o)
I talked with Toyah yesterday who told me of how on the day of her call-back audition, she was in a taxi in London and saw Kate go speeding by on her bike, amusing her greatly that nobody was else was aware of who was weaving in and out of traffic.
According to her autobiography she is pedaling. there was a double who rode up hill, but that was cut from the final version. the older bikes were much heavier which is why she had trouble. every scene you see is her, though she had trouble with it.

Just talked to some other Kate fans on a forum and it appears that she did have a double for the film...now that I remember she mentioned it in her book ME. It's hard to tell though so I see where you would think that...and Mann lies a LOT so I don't blame you. Just thought I would point that out to you because it is a fact!
ok you're right, but in the two scenes up the hill, not in the others. And pedaling for a seventy-two woman is not very usual, you know. And even so, Mann 1 - VidalGores 7
Haha I know, believe me I would normally think it was a lie as well because Mann is a joke but I happen to know that for a fact. I know it isn't unusual for a seventy-two woman to ride a bike, Kate rode a bike several times.
