  • I dont understand how people draw like this in photoshop. How is it less opaque and how do you get the painting effects. What brush? How?!? I don't understand yet i see a ton of videos that draw like this... :(

  • @Sycra have you ever tried corel painter 12. if you need "help trying" it let me know

  • what tools do you use ? do you use all the brush tools such as smudge, blur, dodge and burn or do you just use brush/pencil and eraser?

  • Why not try kreating a character for League of legend :D

  • my only critique is that you push the colours in your flesh tones a bit more....other than that real good

  • This is crazy awesome!! That was amazing. I couldn't take my eyes away from the screen! haha.

    That's really impressive =)

  • Wow the soundtrack is Opera #1 by Vitas. Made the video that much cooler! Loved it

  • What do you think is the closest medium to.....computer? Whatever you would call this. Cause i love stuff like this, but the strokes are soo different with like..pencils. And paint isnt my favorite. I guess pastel/ What do you think?

  • Traditionally I think it has most in common with oil paint. Well, I paint pretty much the same way digitally as I would with oil paint, only faster with digital. I think pastel might work, but I wouldn't personally know how to do it.

  • okay. thanks. i totally forgot about regular oil paint.

I think you might like pastels..judging on what i see. Haha, i might only like it because you can jam as much chalk onto the paper as you want. But i think it would be cool to at least try.

  • @GaryTheMoomau

personally id say mix it up, each tool in photoshop represents a different real life tool. acrylics and watercolors, different inks, oil paints, charcoals and pastels can all be combined to create different effects.

painting digitally, however, is probably closest to acrylic washing in terms of using color layers and brush opacity.

  • Sycra is my hero. The main thing he does for me is that he gets me drawing again!

  • its awsome it looks like adobe fireworks..

  • wonderfull

  • thanks ;))

  • huh? Reupload?

  • So fantastic...how long did you practise to be soo...soo good at drawing?

  • AWESOME!

  • this is very cool, but the way hes holding that weapon it looks like the axe end should be tilting down becoz of how heavy it would be.

  • not if the weapon is balanced

  • doesn't look balanced tho, with a spear on one end a huge axe on the other. Also his hand is more towards the tip so it would be even harder to hold it straight.

  • I see what you mean, but when you swing an axe you hold it more towards the opposite end from the blade. And that's without having a metal spear on the other end, which may cause counter weight. Obviously the question isn't so much the weapon itself, but his unorthodox way of holding it. His arm is fully extended meaning the weapon is either very light or he's very strong. Which is already implying fantasy. So I don't think hand position matters if he can already hold the blade fully extended.

  • I thought about that, but from the picture its hard to tell if hes swinging it or if hes just holding it.

  • I see. I understand in many ways character design must be aware of some laws of nature, but they can be stretched is what I was getting at. Such as FF characters like Cloud or Devil May Cry's Dante who both look probably 180 lbs wield swords easily in one hand that even behemoths couldn't carry with both hands.

Sycra can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the pose of the weapon was meant to add more of a dynamic to the pic to show he's hunting the creature before attacking.

  • i agree with that, but when cloud swings his sword you can still feel the weight of it.

  • I agree with you, the way he drew it is unbalanced

  • really wonderful! 5*

  • genial tu es tres fort
