I can´t believe that you guys think it´s haram for a woman to read the quran kareem...reciting the quran is for everybody...Allah didn´t forbid it from anybody who wants to recite, women or men...besides there are top competitions for women held to bring out the best reciter...and these competitions are organized by sheikhs and islamic scholars....and you can see it on TV...the shejks claim it not haram its just that people are not used to it.

What she did in this video is covering her aurah, meaning that she respects the religion, n the Quran. Yes, she doesnt cover her aurah properly outside, but that doesnt meanshe is not religious. she performs umrah almost every year. i'd say let us pray she will cover her aurah properly one day and leave the rest to Allah. :)

The idea that a man can get turned on by a woman reciting Allah's words is absolutely disgusting and a false premise. Telling men and women that they should fear hearing women's voices and women reciting The Qur'an because it may lead to sexual desire inadvertently leads to that happening.
@donAntony87 There's a difference between looking at a woman's body or hearing a woman use a seductive voice. Neither of them occur in situations where a sister is reciting. Masha'Allah to the sister in the video, she recited beautifully. May Allah (SWT) bless her with a husband who can recite equally as well if not better so that he may teach her or she may teach him.
@donAntony87 -Aiysha the prophet wife (may Allah be please with her) when she would gives lectures to the sahaba , she would have curtian between them so they would not see her and she would put her finger in her mouth to make her voice sound different. So, it is not permissible to recite for men (other than your father, brother, and husband) to hear nor is it permissible to be on here. You can find this autheric hadeeth either in Sahih Muslim or Bukahari.

I don't know of any hadiths or anything in the Quran that speaks of what you say. Also, don't say it's modesty because many force niqabs on women and do it in the name of modesty.

okay guys! i've read that woman who sing in front of male people, that'll HARAM! but, i do not found any words that said woman reciting Quran are HARAM! so you got me confused, which quran do you read? I'm not so good in this religion stuff, but I'm pass all basic thing like reading Quran, understanding this holy book, I also pray too.. i know how to handle a funeral etc. But wht's up with the 'slaughtered', 'raped' thing?

I can´t believe that you guys think it´s haram for a woman to read the quran kareem...reciting the quran is for everybody...Allah didn´t forbid it from anybody who wants to recite, women or men...besides there are top competitions for women held to bring out the best reciter...and these competitions are organized by sheikhs and islamic scholars....and you can see it on TV...the shejks claim it not haram its just that people are not used to it.

Yes I know exactly the sheiks you speak of. you first need seperate the issues firstly reading and following the Quran is one issue - understanding the Quran is a different issue all together. Anyway its pathetic to be bickering over this issue, we have people arguing over these issues when they dont even read there Salah.Our brothers are being slaughtered and sisters are being raped, our babies are being murdered and your wanting to discuss Islam on youtube. it has become a sickness. Siti has a beautiful recitation style mashAllah and I just looked at another video of hers because I was curious about the video subject ('Siti goes into a high note' or something like that) and she was singing in it! I'm so shocked subhanAllah! She's not covered and she's singing! I'm confused. Was she not as religious before?

@shlaskar :she is a really nice person, sweet and kind..and one of malaysia's most talented and famous singer. What she did in this video is covering her aurah, meaning that she respects the religion, n the Quran. Yes, she doesnt cover her aurah properly outside, but that doesnt meanshe is not religious. she performs umrah almost every year. i'd say let us pray she will cover her aurah properly one day and leave the rest to Allah. :)

Some sisters may not cover up properly, but they can be even more decent than some sisters who are all covered up, but do indecent things aodhubillah. Insha'Allah she will cover her awrah properly one day. SubhanAllah, she performs Umrah almost every year? That's amazing! MashAllah! Take care my sister :).

Surah 33:59. Enjoin your wives, your daughters, and the wives of true believers that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (Quran 33:58–59). Muslim women are supposed to cover up, ones that don't are agnoring Allah. Salam alikium.

I agree that it is not permisible for a lady to read in public specially when men (not husband or son) in same room outload as her voice can cause bad intentions in the male. I am A WOMAN and dont think it is right and think woman can recite in publicif only Ladies are listening to her voice!

@liketoserch You being a woman doesn't make your statement any less prejudiced. Historically women have been taught by male Qurra', and in some instances, female recitors have taught male students. The idea that a man can get turned on by a woman reciting Allah's words is absolutely disgusting and a false premise. Telling men and women that they should fear hearing women's voices and women reciting The Qur'an because it may lead to sexual desire inadvertently leads to that happening.

@donAntony87 There's a difference between looking at a woman's body or hearing a woman use a seductive voice. Neither of them occur in situations where a sister is reciting. Masha'Allah to the sister in the video, she recited beautifully. May Allah (SWT) bless her with a husband who can recite equally as well if not better so that he may teach her or she may teach him.

@donAntony87 -Aiysha the prophet wife (may Allah be please with her) when she would gives lectures to the sahaba , she would have curtian between them so they would not see her and she would put her finger in her mouth to make her voice sound different. So, it is not permissible to recite for men (other than your father, brother, and husband) to hear nor is it permissible to be on here. You can find this autheric hadeeth either in Sahih Muslim or Bukahari.

@liketoserch well many don't think it's permissible for women's faces to be seen in public but most of us ladies still show it. I don't know of any hadiths or anything in the Quran that speaks of what you say. Also, don't say it's modesty because many force niqabs on women and do it in the name of modesty.

mashaaAllah you have a beautiful voice,but what you are doing is HARAM to post it in public! Its called awra.What Allah has beautified for the women should be covered or hidden. Its fine in your home or where its women only, but not where men can hear you. Allah has made this forbidden for women for a reason. There is a wisdom behind it for your protection. May Allah guide you and seek the truth from an Imam or a teacher of Islam (sunni) or hadith books. its your duty to find this out.

MASHA'ALLAH the sisters recitation is nice. But I would have loved to see her vailed... As in to cover her face. Second...To my knowledge, a females voice is also considered to be apart fo her beauty. So based on that it's not wise for a muslimah to be heard in such a manner. Alhamdulillah she is reading quran and that's great. But, there is a time and a place for everything.

she is wearing the headscarf because she is a MUSLIM, whats wrong with you guys. You dont wear a scarf because you are married, The headscarfs isn´t just something that you put on your hair, it means alot of things. I started to wear the headscarf when I was 6 1/2 years old. And im proud of that!

For a person whose 1st language is not Arabic, its a great achievement, not only to be able to read the Quran, but also to recite it in correct Tajweed and also putting a good tone behind it. Some people would dream of being able to read just a few lines of the Quran. So, ALL CREDIT TO THE SISTER!
