  • Wow the description in the video is way off, and there is a lot of mis-information below. Here is how it goes:

Sticking: K-L-R-K-L-K-R-L (Repeat) (Same as a few other posts)

    His First Beat: S=Snare, K=Kick, T1- Tom1, T2 = Tom2, H= Hi Hat.

    KHHKSK(T1)H KH(T2)KSK(T2)(T2)

This two triple and a double thing is a cool concept. Thanks for the post!

  • You are all wrong. Its KKKKKKKK.

Its known as the lightning foot technique

  • :c gimme ur drum kit ^^ awesome video!

  • I don't understand wtf

  • its K LRL K RL

  • OK ppl, Here's a little advice from one drummer to another. STOP trying to figure out exactly what he's doing and just take the CONCEPT of what he's doing. He's taking a short pattern and repeating it. While, what he's doing is not what he's saying it very well could sound the same when you do it. The sticking doesn't matter just how it sounds. The accents and how it sounds are what matters. When you are playing this you're not going to be thinking of KLRKLKRL. 2 triplets and a double, reapeated

  • soumds awesome

  • Your toms sound amazing

  • the right way is the way you feel it other wise no matter what sticking you use it won;t flow.

  • I can't believe it their both wrong=====shadow90x below is the only one right

  • Great lick , may i know what didnt u hit on the 2nd & 3rd lick?? Thx.

  • More please!

  • Good :o))) Check my Channel and my groove :o)

  • You're just a Mike Johnston clone...

  • @LenAdanosi its quite different Johnston's is KRKRLRLR

    his KLRKLKLR

  • Love this one!

    Gonna try and practice this!

Then fail at it and cry sitting in a corner with mah sockpuppet...

  • love itt could you post more vids????

  • I second towhom311. You guys are great players and great musicians for taking time to share ideas with the drumming community. I know I'm learning a lot!! Keep these bits coming!!

*correct sticking for this pattern KLRKLKRL*

  • @lugnutz7 he said a different pattern..........KLRLKRL

  • Don't listen to Some of these idiots. You're great. Drums sound fine, your patterns are awesome. Keep it comin dude.

  • It´s a nice, simple lick. But, not being able to explain your own "nice, simple lick" properly grasps above, below, and withing the realm of the lamentable.

  • yes the explanation is wrong

  • man dont be dissin his set it sounds great for what he's tuned for so yea lol

  • pretty cool, but your drums suck

  • great technique, but you look like a robot when you play!

  • ah yeah

  • lovin them lads keep them coming>>>how do ye work them out?

  • his explanation is wrong.. its KLR KLK RL

  • thnx man, this one make more sense to me....

  • i had put up a lesson on a similar sounding linear fill....lol! posted it as a video comment :)

  • i think he's right about the explanation,i think its KLRLKRL = 7

DOUBLE THAT, 14 which leaves 2 and thats another RL on the floor tom.

  • @aseriousoffender finally u r the only one that got it right

  • cool fill though

  • if you're playing straight sixteenth notes for that fill, you're missing one note in your explanation...if it just goes KLRLKRL you're missing the last a, so you;'d have to play it something like KLRLKRLR

  • KLRKRKLR is what you played. . Why do you explain it wrong? Did I miss something? Nice lick any who!

  • Comment removed

  • it looks like 3 diffrent fill's!!!

  • its the same sticking, done 3 different ways

  • man, this lick is useful............VERY useful. thanks for posting!

  • these licks are ill.

  • more please

  • more plz

  • ... left

  • Thanks so much for breaking this down Drew. This lick is so much fun to play and not terribly difficult..

  • The lick he is playing around :30 is actually KLRKLKRL. This lick is very versatile, like he says

  • That's right.

  • I'm con fuzzled :P

  • Man ty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yep, this is sticking pattern. Total of 8 notes. Repeat to make 16 and end with a crash. done

  • @Jraewood thanks for expalaining it properly.. i wish he would use context and a count in..

his explanation sux.. but thanks for posting respect..! :) gonna go practice..

    tanks J

  • sweet lick. but if anyone knows, wats the exact drums he hits? i know the sticking but wats the actual drums for those stickings?

  • the first was KHHKSKT1H KHT2KSKT2T2 (KLRKLKRL)

  • PLEASE KEEP POTING MORE!!

  • i really Love this lick!! im new to gospel drumming and ive been wondering how to do something like this for ages!! although can u repost this vid with a break down in stead of the sticking like, play this real slow

  • Nice Lick. Been using this one alot over the past few days

  • Great Job, man.I'll start practicing that.I just posted a few lessons too.Check out Mike Chilton drum lesson.

  • very nice...how about a little slower explanation...so those of us awake at 6:30 can get it? hahaha...real nice...

  • Play as 16th notes straight or swung. The left hand plays the snare on 2 and 4.

    The sticking is:

    F-L-R-F-L(snare)-F-R-L

    Rinse and repeat as necessary.

  • @palito32 these guys at drum dept play some very tasty licks but are terrible at explaining them. theyll slow stuff down but , and i hate when guys go real slow in explanations but they cud explain beter . like this fill is so many beats in this tempo, and put up a chart, no biggee

  • hey, nice! getting up another one. good job.
