Everything in the locally owned shops are not even genuine and they are ridculously overspriced. The price on the items on BAF dont even come close to how much they are sold outside, so buyers beware do not buy from them nor take their word for the price or the genuity especially of the jewellery.

@Troublesome2008 around 4000g a month for junior enlisted with dependants. Im one of them. However what really tans my ass is the guy who serves me breakfast or washes my laundry makes 150k a year if not more. Yeah our govt is doing great things wasting money on things the service members can do for a fraction of the cost. Or instead of paying billions of dollars for contractors give it to the guys on ground kicking in doors who have the real risk pay them a 100k to put life truly on line.

Makes me sick that a PFC or a SPC out there kicking in doors makes half that. its sickening to see our Govt pay billions of dollars to these contractors that pay theyre help huge amounts of money and then want to cut out our yearly raise saying that they cant afford 1.9% raise

WOW! I was a U.S. Soldier (MP, 82 Airborne) deployed to Bagram from early 2002 thru 2003; we operated out of Bagram but did missions all over the country, even running down to Kandahar. I can't believe what I'm seeing in this video; its a GOOD thing but WOW. When we got there we had to put up our tents (GP MEDIUM's), had NO bathing/running water of any kind, no dfac, didn't have jacksheet! What we did have lots of landmines, UXO, rocket/mortar attacks, & firefights (usually about 0300 hrs). Wow!

But I guess living in a mudhut, getting re-supply from helos slingloads at 3am isn't nearly as hard as running out of pizza cheese. It was a treat for me to trade rations with Americans when we could, much less wing night at TGI Fridays. All Bagram or KAF worry about are Taliboners with 20 year old 107mm chinese rockets, who are lucky hit within 2 KILOMETERS of their intended target.

i served in afghani land and i never once had the opportunity to get creature comforts like that. it as aimed towards the troops that dont leave the wire. it makes a ton of money - but its not open to afghans - only soldiers. Its not really there to exploit afghans it pays the forces a substantial amount to have the area leased - and serves as a morale boost or morale vacuum to those that are there.

Morale is really important to all troops, even in roman times, the soldiers would fight without pay for months on end, but if there wasn't any bread they would desert (risking capture and execution). No hes probably making about 60 - 70k.
Alot of the IT guys are making 100, 200k+.
The same job a 25B in the army does, a civilian over there makes a SHITLOAD more.

But I guess living in a mudhut, getting re-supply from helos slingloads at 3am isn't nearly as hard as running out of pizza cheese. It was a treat for me to trade rations with Americans when we could, much less wing night at TGI Fridays. All Bagram or KAF worry about are Taliboners with 20 year old 107mm chinese rockets, who are lucky hit within 2 KILOMETERS of their intended target.

i served in afghani land and i never once had the opportunity to get creature comforts like that. it as aimed towards the troops that dont leave the wire. it makes a ton of money - but its not open to afghans - only soldiers. Its not really there to exploit afghans it pays the forces a substantial amount to have the area leased - and serves as a morale boost or morale vacuum to those that are there.

Morale is really important to all troops, even in roman times, the soldiers would fight without pay for months on end, but if there wasn't any bread they would desert (risking capture and execution). General McChrystal is a fucking moron if his training and experiences haven't taught him this by now. His forces will be a sad, homesick, derisive bunch of malcontents, unwilling to focus. I say keep the mall and don't bother deploying yet more unneeded troops.

Of course, if they stayed home and out of other people's countries none of this would be necessary in the first place. If they want comfort, they should go back to their homes. I hope they all get a taste of the reality of a real war and forget about being comfortable. Only Westerners would entertain this. They are in the middle of a war zone where it's do or die. What are they getting massages and fast food for? They do not understand anything. What a complete waste of life and resources.
