@thebloads - That is a really good question- I'm not sure- he would have had a chance to read some of his works before his death. Schopenhauer certainly appreciated Beethoven's music. I do believe that Beethoven made reference to eastern philosophy having some effect on him- that being a similarity. I dunno- always trying to link up my favorite thinkers and artists. I can see how a work like the this quartet would spawn such a question.

I've always found their interpretations wonderful—especially their Ives quartets. Gorgeous. And this is a correct tempo.
