to BBC / Uploader, can you make your channel and videos available to our country? i can only view this one, but i cant view your other videos because its not available to our country.... I'm from the Philippines and I work in an EMS... I watch video's about EMS to Learn and Study more... Hope in future time I might be able to view your channel and videos regarding EMS like (e.g. Air Medics) Thanks and have a nice day....
Really gets my goat how people will just run up the the aircraft.
My best one was, we had to land on a golf course, to off load gear for a search and the golfers just kept playing, one of them hit the ball over the top of us!, when I walked up the green and told them they need to stop now!, they were most upset that we had interupted their play! what can you say?
We do have this in the US, just here in my area in Asheville, North Carolina we use both the EC-135 and a BK-117. They're hell of an aircraft. Here it's called MAMA Mountain Area Medical Airlift.
What I don't get is, why did the medic's let the man's wife (or a random bystander) continue to hold C-Spine after the medics got there AND applied oxygen? The accident could have injured his spine (and lower extremities) being that it was on a dirtbike. . . I'd hate to see how they backboarded him. . .
All road ambulances carry more equipment than a helicopter of this size. Traction splints, spinal boards, vacuum mattress, long and short box splints and a KED (or whatever your local immobilisation kit is) are surely carried on your road vehicles? Flight Nurse? Where in the UK is this happening? Now that is a waste of fuel! What is a nurse doing in the pre-hospital environment that a Paramedic cant? Only one of them is an expert in this field, I'll leave it to you to guess which one.
If it was so hard to get a medical team there how come there are a load of kids sitting around the site too, and a paramedic already dealing with the guy?
What a waste of an expensive helicopter resource and charity money, not to mention the obvious safety issues.
Did you see a road that an ambulance could have driven up to the patient and then driven away?...no. That is why they called in a helicopter they can fly in their supplies and then come back when they're ready for transport. Also, the ambulance there may not have been equipped to handle the extent of his trauma. So, they pass it on to somebody who can. I'm glad that your appreciative of what Flight Nurses and Paramedics like those in the video and my self do..thank you.
The Paramedic already dealing with the guy was the first one off the helicopter, turn your sound on and you will hear the words "Paramedics Kevin and Jane"
Another way to tell, the aircrew wear orange flight suits to quickly identify them. Ambulance paramedics wear dark green. And Basics doctors wear light green. All to enable rapid identification at a scene.
