@garfeeld : well , I'm fan since 2008 . And i'm living in Germany. There arn't really 'big' here.. i just know 3 peoples , which knows vw [;. But there are so amazing !!
yeah, I guess so. this is just so typically "connecticut" that it's funny....but you're right cause yelling on the subway after school...that's a whole nother sadly accurate stereotype
my mum really likes these guys, almost as much as i do lol it's awesome, one of very few bands we can agree on. but why did you start with blake's got a new face and end with half a second of a-punk?
Oh oh guys, relax a little. It's simply impossible for everyone to like the same music. Be glad there's difference of tastes and people or else the world would be a very, very boring place.
As for me, I recently got into this band and I love it.
You know? I agree with Kimbro. This is a fad band. Kind of cute. But if I want this simplicity I'll break out the Jonathan Richman. I suppose kids these days don't explore music though...
It's alright. Not offensively bad. Just not really... good? Yes, not good.
Fad band or not - I need new music to listen to because I cycle through songs and groups weekly. Unless it's something that's truly unique (to me) and, thus, has longevity, then bring on as much music and bands as possible - I want to hear them all! What's wrong w/ a new band that's got a similar sound to an album produced 20 years ago? Naturally they've been influenced by Graceland, for instance, but Graceland wouldn't have been Gracelad if Simon hadn't borrowed from his influences.
I just think it's boring and am also going to guess that, unlike Richamn or Graceland, noone will be listenning to this a month or two from now.
I don't hate anyone for listenning to this, as I said it's NOT offensively bad, I'm just guessing most of you will move on and get bored sooner rather than later.
No... You're one of those who live only in bias and construct and prepackage your thoughts based on your perception of my action.
You don't know me, don't talk like you know ANY of my stances. I watched it because I thought it might be interesting, it isn't. It's boring. I gave my feedback, that's what comments are for.
You're one of those assholes who make up the majority of the world. One of those douchebags sitting on the bleachers, too pretentious to dance and enjoy yourself when one of the most enjoyable bands in the past decade is playing in your face.
Also, I think their album is more consistent than Graceland. Yeah I said it. I love Paul Simon, but I don't feel like playing any of his albums in their entirety the way I do Vampire Weekend's.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This band is terrible - there's nothing there, folks. They can barely play their instruments, the songs are monotonous, and the albums have no character. The vocals are whiny and the lyrics are devoid of substance.
They have nothing to sing or write or play about, they went to college and now they're famous. They are a product of the industry.
If you like their music search a little more and find the really creative stuff - it's there waiting for those who seek it!
I'm confused how an independent band who sparked fame from self-promotion on the internet is a product of the industry but...Its not complex but its fun and sounds good. Just because you hate new music doesn't prove its shit. Countless bands (clash, ramones, rolling stones) have proven how good simplicity can be.
You can only listen to Graceland or Special Beat Service so many times in one day. I'm glad there's new blood. If you think Paul Simon has always had something to sing about, I challenge you to explain Punky's Dilemma. This is fun music, and it's not posing as anything else.
Wow, the band that's been around for like, a week, doesn't write as good as Paul Simon, who's been recording music for over 50 years and is arguably the greatest songwriter of all time. Brilliant. When 'Hey Schoolgirl' dropped, I'm sure there were a-holes like you saying 'Go listen to The Everly Brothers! These guys suck & that little dude will never amount to anything!"
There is an inverse correlation between how many people have seen and loved it before me and how much I love it. And it makes sense—the only way you can prove yourself in this world is by having carefully calibrated and well-researched taste, and it's infuriating when your picks lose their indie cred and become (shudder) mass-market and therefore worthless. -Georgetown Voice
Vampire Weekend, the three-fourths-Brooklyn group that is the breakout indie success of the year, updates the clean lines of new wave with touches of African guitar.— a new generation is making music that is indefinably eclectic and complex, and finding acclaim around the world. -New York Times 08mar08
Kids should have good pop music to dance to. It's refreshing. I am so sick of all this preconceived American Idol crap. This band makes wonderful and smart pop music. It's almost too smart for this country.
theres like no one there, too bad youll never be able to see the band like that unless their next album sucks, every venue they play in the US in '08 sells out
lovely. just nice pleasant music. I'm so glad my grandson turned me on to this because it's so inoffensive. punk rock is so much better without that "punk" part.
Cool music reminds me of an 80s white boy Bob Marley. Way to go change your name to Raiders of the Lost Ark or something different Vampire Weekend doesnt cut it. Good Music!
The amphitheater is probably most famous for being used in the movie Wild Style, but it fell into disrepair over much of the 1980s and '90s. It wasn't until recently that the amphitheater was renovated when the ABC television network gave Erin Brockovich four million dollars and six days to fix the to amphitheater as part of a television special.
I saw them do this song live in Seattle. They say it's sort of meant to be a cover of Metallica's "One," although aside from the tremelo at the beginning, they don't really have anything in common.
