Fad band or not - I need new music to listen to because I cycle through songs and groups weekly. Unless it's something that's truly unique (to me) and, thus, has longevity, then bring on as much music and bands as possible - I want to hear them all! What's wrong w/ a new band that's got a similar sound to an album produced 20 years ago? Naturally they've been influenced by Graceland, for instance, but Graceland wouldn't have been Gracelad if Simon hadn't borrowed from his influences.

Also, I think their album is more consistent than Graceland. Yeah I said it. I love Paul Simon, but I don't feel like playing any of his albums in their entirety the way I do Vampire Weekend's.

This band is terrible - there's nothing there, folks. They can barely play their instruments, the songs are monotonous, and the albums have no character. The vocals are whiny and the lyrics are devoid of substance.

They have nothing to sing or write or play about, they went to college and now they're famous. They are a product of the industry.

If you like their music search a little more and find the really creative stuff - it's there waiting for those who seek it!
