  • Sometimes it's easier to do it faster than slower :P It's like falling down, the only way to go is fast :)

  • It's all about practice. It does come eventually.I've recently started incorporating double bass drum technique into my live playing and once you lock it in,it's a great feeling of achievment. When you've been trying to get to a certain level for so long and you finally get there. It's having the confidence to try it live.

  • Im a fan of all metal, and i have to say that the playing at the end was pretty shitty

  • I like how he says it's easy, when most guys can't even move there arms and like that fast when they masturbate :P let alone count....

  • First thing I noticed: That china on the far right is SO DESTROYED.

  • I have been playing for about 1 and half years now, and still can’t get myself together on the double bass. It’s so hard, cz I can barely play the same everyday..it sucks...

  • Was wondering if you new how to basically make a pdp double pass pedal better. . . sounds crazy . . I am dead broke . and only have that pedal I think its terrible to play with. . very uneven. When I play with pedals at the store I kill it. . It is frustrating . . just curious if anyone has any thoughts..

  • I luv it how he says easy n I'm like :o

  • that fill is a slipknot fill

  • @Milpup How is that a slipknot fill lol it's a drum fill that slipknot used

  • @Milpup not necessarily cause the "slipknot fill" had to come from some were right?

  • I love you

  • great teacher

  • tss...! wish i can do that dobby!

  • You see alot of metal drummers with 2 bassdrums and 2 pedals(like jordisson),is this an advantage? upon bassdrum with 2 pedals?

  • @ImDusky Well, i've been drumming for like 9 years, and the advance of the double pedals is that you can play both: single basses and double basses. But he doesn't have 2 basses, he just has a double pedal and 1 bass. You also have bass pedals which automatically play 2 bass drums, without having the option to play just a single bass drum. Good luck ;)

  • Nice instruction. Lots of good nugs for beginners.

    Thanks. Rev. Kev.

  • disarmed, this as twitching

  • Just to say, your bass drum sounds a paper tube...

  • 2:25 VERY SIMPLE BWAHAHAHAHA -.-

  • @nicolateolis Haha I think he means the technique which I believe is. The speed on the other hand...

  • @encoreee90 its sample

  • @encoreee90 its actually pretty simple lol :P

  • 2:14 Speed it up... sounds awesome... VERY SIMPLE

    yeah sure dude xD

  • How the hell do you sit on a chair while you doubble bass? i always lose balance, what am i doing wrong?

  • @ZePerfectionist From my experience, and I too am still working through this the faster I get, you just have to work on balance. Derek Roddy has a useful excercise. He says before you start playing, sit on your seat and raise your fet about an inch off the ground trying not to curl your feet under your seat. Keep your legs up for as long as you can and try to keep your back straight. I get where ur commin from though. A lot of people get used to relying on the human "kickstand" to keep balance.

  • Great tutorial, thanks. I need double basses and could have them by now but I decided to wait to buy double BASSES instead of double KICKS because I have trouble staying "even" with double kicks.

  • When you play sixteenths on the kick and the simple hand pattern up top, your hands wil alwaysl play with your right foot. the rides on all the quater notes and the snare on only 2 & 4 meaning it will go wit your right foot which plays 1&2&3&4&. its a different story for the triplet pattern tho.

  • Hi great Lessons One question. When your doing the 16ths on the bass drum is your left hand(snare) hitting with right foot or your left foot.I am having a hard time getting my right foot hitting perfect with my left hand when i do 16ths with my double pedal.Thanks.

  • acomada el sonido la proxima

  • the second one sounds like system of a down

  • Hey buddy. What do you use to keep the reverb out of your bass drum? suck a sheets or dampners?

  • the 4 hand 2 feet thing sounds like the begining of hatredy by dethklok

  • there is a difference between simple and easy you guys....this IS simple, that doesnt mean it doesnt take alot of practice to work up speed.

  • how long do i have to practice for a technique like you have? (a)

  • very simple... HAHA!

  • mmmmmmm yeshhhh very simpleeeeee lol... awesome lesson dude!

  • @IrieDrumS Because it IS simple.

  • @Fa113nWarri0r It's all practice. Just practice doing that every day and you'll have it down at a good speed in no time.

  • @Fa113nWarri0r its easy

    sjajhahah. shits cred

  • the first beat you can do with heal toe.

  • Haha! 2:25 ya, veery simple..

    =)

  • When I watch this, he is moving all of his leg. I got taught to create the kick from your ankle whilst keeping the rest of your leg still.

What is the correct/best technique ?

  • @N0bb13 usually when you are playing at lower BPM, its easier to keep rhythm using more leg movement, as the BPM's get higher you begin using mainly your ankles and calf's. whatever works for YOU. as long as you're having fun who cares

  • lol Those are very simple. Anything even over doubles is pretty much easy. Groups over quads is weird though. Also, for people wondering about heel toe; do not use shoes while doing it. Also, dont try learning it on flat ground and then taking it to a pedal. Heel toe takes awhile to learn, and you wont get clean doubles at first, so start slow. Hah, im hoping this guy isnt going to be the drummer for Dream Theater, he's good, but styles dont match. He'll lead DT to blast beats lol.

  • very simple my ass!

  • @IrieDrumS Why it is actually VERY simple once you learn the technique.

  • Behold... The Arctopus!!! \,,/

  • veeeeeryyyy simple?huh!!! hahahahaha!!!

  • just what i was looking for, thanks :)

  • do you have any tips on like how tight the springs should be i keep trying to position the pedals right so i dont ware myself out to fast

  • Just play with it, you'll find your settings.

  • EPIC

  • i havent been drumming long, about a month ever since i had my drum kit, but this vid has helped alot x)

  • first, you should play other things.

  • i just started drumming and this video really helped me out. thanks dude!

ill be checking out your other vids!

  • i have those exact pedals :P

  • thanks dude this vid is great thumbs up!!

  • Yeah,nice tutotorial!!!

  • This video is like really super duper helpful i recomend people who are first get there double bass pedal to look at this video first thing.

  • Can someone help me ahah, I've been watching this vid multiple times doing single strokes and alternating my feet RLRLRL, yet i do it very slow and still loose a smooth consistant pattern. I go like 4 mph ahah and i loose it plus.... I dont understand heel down i put my heels down and my feet wont move uo and down cause my foot simply cant move up or down without snapping my bone tbh..

  • basicly it just takes practice to keep a solid beat, there's no trick to get good and fast in a short time. if it doesn't feel good to keep your heels down then don't. everybody plays them a little different, it's all about what feels comfortable and works for you. keep practicing you'll get it.

  • The fill with 4 on the hands and 2 on the feet is one of my favorites to play =D

  • that alternating double fill is sick

  • ssteee..ueeeee!!!

  • thanks for fills man! very helpfull :D

  • that was so Awesome! the Fills were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you make it look soo easy, but its the hardest shit in the world!!!!

    except for jazz and funk.

i swear some of the stuff my step dad does is impossible, or not ment 4 humans....

  • i wud suggest u play 8th notes or slow patterns HEEL DOWn and Faster one HEEL UP and to maintain STAmina and CleaNESS use SWEVEL motion,,,,,but ONE MAIN THING :::: PRACTICE PERFECTLY and HAVE FUN with iT!!!!!!

  • This guy plays smooth!!!

  • i just got a pedal, and im surprised how easy it is to do this stuff, the only thing for me is that it takes conditioning to do it fast / precise but otherwise the syncopation isn't hard, and sounds bad ass!
