lol my M17x runs warhead on enhusiast settings with 4x aa and constant 45-50 fps no problem. he's lagging because he only has 1 graphics card, im running dual 5870 ati's. :) so all u alienware haters can suck it.
Not everyone is a prissy decedent of wealth, who is mindlessly bestowed Alienware. It's one thing to be a nub (we all are at one point or another), but a sh*t talking nub deserves no mercy. Cobra Kai.
@henryguitarhero@omfgitzalex You do knoe that alienware you to come from this company before Dell bought it right. They both still have their similar design if you look at it.
I have a question, I'm looking to buy this laptop but I notice that Anti Alising was off does this laptop have the function? Because I like my games to have that so it can look sharper, does this laptop support AA? Thanks.
I bought a Sager NP8690 and its power button doesn't have a very defined click like my friends. it has the same travel and it's responsive, will it fail?
Hey Ken, have you tried this laptop with the full Crysis Game and Warhead with the CUDAATS mod and CCC for Warhead? I'd love to see a vid with those mods installed as very few people do due to no one knowing how the very mods optimize the games speed while keeping the visuals pretty high (CUDAATS Level 5 = Very High Mode graphics while having Medium mode speeds). Give it a try and you may like it ;)! With every laptop I purchase, I never game with Crysis without CUDAATS or CCC for Warhead.
Crysis on the GTX 285M which is better than the GTX 280M is only outperformed by the ATI 5870 by about 10%. Nvidia optimisation for games when compared to ATI can make a difference even if the card is faster. In other games the ATI 5870 outperforms the GTX 285M by 30% so it varies.
@Nenyana Oh really? 10% only on crysis? glad im not playing that game, but if other games 30% higher then im glad to hear, coz im planning to buy this laptop, the size and specs is just unbeatable.
Yea, the smaller increase in performance in Crysis was probably due to it being optimised for Nvidia based GPU's.. I have the same laptop with the GTX 285M and the titles that the ATI 5870 performs close to are the Nvidia optimised ones. They have done many benchmarks on the notebookreview forums, some comparing the 2 GPU's.
I can't complain though, I get 56 fps in the GTA IV benchmark at 1600 x 900 res, all High settings and sliders at 40 apart from shadows. My lower res still looks ace!
@carsongbaker Haha dude thanks for the reply, but err, i already have this lappy wit the 5870. And i know exactly how bfbc2 runs on it =). I posted that 3 months ago.
1280 is too low for testing a performance level graphic card, besides, i didnt see any Gamer settings, what is the point of this test? A middle class graphic card like 4670 can run fluently under this setting

your frame rate is acceptable because of the "high" settings and the 15,6" screen !!!!
play crysis with that laptop on a 24" screen and you' ll see that your fps' ll reduce really fast !!
MrXlero 1 year ago
@MrXlero
You sir, are clueless. The size of the screen doesn't affect the video card's performance, only the resolution of said screen.
chrsschb 1 year ago
@chrsschb
you re definitely right :P
try out the new Geforce GTX 480M, you ll find it in the MySN QXG7
then crysis will run even faster !!!!!

now come with the Ati 5870m the fastest single video card for laptops. this should boost the frame rates to 40+ on all high, 1080p no AA

Nope not rly. 1920x1080 and High settings with Crysis and Ati 5870M still doesnt constantly run on 40+ frames. not even 30+ fps.
The GTX 285M Sli can however.

Hmm, it seems that towards the end that it starts artifacting. Is this just this notebook or is it something that will happen with a lot of them?

how do think this would run with the same specs except with the 720QM cpu?

It should be fine with most apps. The 720 is still an awesome processor and packs a punch.

Was this the standard config or did you customize it?
b257 2 years ago
It's with 920XM CPU.
guyver1660 2 years ago
Really?, that looks fantastic, if it can handle crysis with that minor change than I guess it can last longer than most gaming notebooks then?
b257 2 years ago
The artifacts on the last test were a bit troubling. Since the GPU is well cooled I'm wondering if the i7 was doing wonky things.
ShadowForge762 2 years ago
Video card was overclocked at 639/982/1651 that's why.
GenTechPC 2 years ago
ah, I see. What was the test GPU's best stable clock at 1080p?
(And is this Ken doing the testing?)
ShadowForge762 2 years ago
630/950/1620 should be safe, even at 639/982/1651 it plays fine too except 1920x1080.
Yes this is Ken and I made this video. :)

(This is Greg)
How are the temperatures after that run, especially after I've seen 80+ on the i7.
ShadowForge762 2 years ago
Hello Greg, good to see you here too. :)
When playing Crysis in window mode the i7 Extreme 920XM runs at 62*C and GPU at 69*C.
I have a screenshot I can email it to later. :)
