  • how did i not know this was happening??? i was in the financial district during this :(

  • THEY ALWAYS HONK IN NY LOL J/K OBAMA YES

  • Oh, sometimes I hate being too busy for YouTube. I've only just seen this. This video nearly made me cry. It was amazing. Obama ftw!

  • this video makes me wish I was American, or that Canada would have that kind of national pride.

but our election sucked balls compared to yours.

    at least Obama won :]

  • That was awesome!!!

  • Totally wish I could have been there! Absolutely amazing and epic! Fun fact... being in Europe before the election was a little scary. I was a Californian. On November 5, it was like a lightswitch was flipped and people were excited and proud to talk to an American. It was amazing. The world views us differently already, and it's because of the night you experienced in New York!

  • Yeah, kinda jealous.

You should keep making videos since I probably won't see you in person until July :P

  • Alex the video was awesome, I thought being on line with my friends was experiencing the moment, but you guys really lived it!! Thanks for sharing!

  • Wow why haven't I seen this yet.

    DAMN WHAT A DAY!!!

  • STEVE HOLT! Obama won!

  • HAH! Maybe we'll put our election stuff up as this wednesday's wildcard. :)

  • Go OBAMA!!! Whoo!

  • Oh man, it must have been so amazing to be there. I wandered the streets of Edinburgh looking for ANYplace that was open past 1AM to watch the coverage, but it's a dead city during the week so I proceeded to wake up probably the entire building and everyone with a window open down the street by blasting the coverage online in my flat and cheering and calling my family:) Didn't sleep til 7:45 AM when I gave up waiting for the official CA proposition results.

  • I cried tears of joy when they announced Obama had won. I'm so happy for our country!

  • I'm all for Obama, but it made me sad that he was against Same Sex marriages.

Then again, I'm Canadian, so it doesn't matter much.

  • obama isn't against same sex marriage..

  • question, are you going to make a song for Obama? I know Harry and the Potters did because I saw it on their myspace. It's called Pheonix Song for Barack. It would be so cool if all of you awesome Wizard Rock Bands that support Obama made a cd dedicating a bunch of songs to him. But I know that you guys are probably really busy to do so, but it's an idea.

  • First of all, I'm so jealous that you got to go to Times Square for election day! Second, Whoa-Bama!

    <3

  • So rad. Everything involved in this video. I especially liked the kazoo noises!

Poor Fox News. :D Speaking of which, what did that one sign say? "Thank you Sean Hannity + Bill O'Reilly for" something "the Republican Party" something? I'm going to assume that it wasn't particularly kind to them..

  • "Empty. Empty and sad." LOL.

I had to work overnight on election night, so it was weird going into work with no way of knowing who'd won until morning. Thanks for posting this so I at least got a taste of the excitement!

  • Wow, I wish I had been somewhere that awesome on election day! I was still super happy about Obama winning but that looks like soooo much fun!!

  • This was far more exciting than my Election Day. Though I did make sure I was far away from my Republican suitemate. The scream, I hear, was glass shattering.

This video made me happy. Like your laugh at the end. XP

  • I wish I was there, in America just for that day!!!! Ahhhh!!!

Oh and you're a ledgend for putting The Beatles in at the end, what a fitting song!

  • This is so awesome! ;D I wish I could have been there! Obama!! <3 Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to come over for Obama '12! xD :D

  • I love that you yelled frak. I don't even really watch BSG, but I appreciate the awesome, haha.

Haha, Fox News. Made of fail.

That is all so insane. Wish I could have been there!

  • When they showed Times Square on the news I scoured the audience carefully for any of your faces - I was looking for giveaways like whiteblonde hair and a fedora. No such luck, but awesome footage, watching anything recording from the day just thrills me, I'm so happy.

  • you're so great to get this historical night on tape.

  • God I love this city

  • Crazy... people were celebrating like we overthrew a freaking dictator or something. I love it!

  • Gah! I swear when the time machine is invented, I'm going to go back in time and go to Grant Park when they called it..and then NY...and then LA, etc, etc....

My little shindig was awesome, but not epic (though we did have a toddler decide she wasn't getting enough attention and so they ran around naked for a few minutes. That was hilarious).

  • so happy I could be there with you Alex! awesome video! :)

  • That looked epicly crazy =)

my college (super incredibly liberal and lovely) celebrated pretty well, too. It was amazing.

    And yeah, yayyyyy Obama!!! =D

  • NICE. The footage all over New York on such an epic night was amazing, awesome. Rock on, Mr. Carpenter. :)

  • Epic.

  • I wish I could have been there. I was celebrating all by my lonesome in my room. Next presidential election though I'll be old enough to go into the city without my parents!

  • Completely epic. No other words describe it. Congrats from Canada.

  • Holy crap, that was freaking EPIC. I would have loved to have been in NYC for that!

  • i wish i could have been somewhere like this INSTEAD of in my room in bumfuck north carolina. I'M SO HAPPY NC WENT BLUE. but it's still so divided here and no one in MY neck of the woods is celebrating :/ i NEED a place to celebrate.

  • freaking AWESOME win for our man Obama. Yeah!!! Man I totally wish I could've been there!

  • EVERYBODY wins when Obama wins!

    Well...that's my opinion anyway...

It wasn't quite THIS bad where I was, but I was on a college campus in an urban area in a Solid Blue state, so it was pretty intense.

  • oh thank god he won.

    i wish i was there!!

  • YESSS! I'm so incredibly happy that Obama won - this really is going to change the world. Congratulations, America! Celebrating election night in the middle of NYC looks like an amazing experience.

Also, Melissa being on the front page of USA Today alongside Obama and McCain is pretty freaking awesome.

  • You have no idea how jealous I am of you. I would have killed to be in NYC for election night, straight up killllleeeddd. See you Tuesday.

  • that looked amazing.

  • Can't wait to see Melissa's video and congrats to her on the USA Today cover!

You are so lucky to be in NY election day, I'm so jealous.

  • That'd be so cool to be out with all those people as it was happening! I was just sitting at home but we all cheered and clapped anyway.

  • YAY OBAMA!!! You wrock, Alex. PS That chocolate cupcake looked freakin' delicious!

  • You are so lucky to have been there! I wish I could've done that, but SC is RED, so I probably would've been boo'ed :(

    Go OBAMA!

  • this is a beautiful video
